I just finished reading the book and have to disagree about the placement of the story. Without a doubt it takes place before 4.2 It is mentioned multiple times that Nefarian is alive and it is obvious that he dies before 4.2 Also at the end Thrall calls Aggra his FUTURE lifemate which as we know is the end of the Elemental Bonds chain. The only confusing thing is that the new blue Aspect is supposed to be decided on during the Tarecgosa's Rest chain which takes place during 4.2 This happens during the book is a fairly spectacular way. I'm going to have to say that this book is pre-4.2 and the Tarecgosa's Rest chain is either going to deal with a seperate part of the new Aspect (no one has completed it yet so we don't truly know) or is going to be for gameplay purposes only. Either way if you can get a hold on this book and you don't, shame on you. It's a marvelous story that could capture anyone whether they are familiar with Warcraft or not.

Also a certain killed character's death has been nulled and void it seems too, by that quest line.
