World First: Paragon defeats heroic 25-man Ragnaros

The heroic version of the Ragnaros fight adds a whole new phase to the encounter in which Ragnaros regains his full Firelord strength, steps out of his swirling molten pool, and becomes mobile around the platform with his new firelegs. Cenarius, Hamuul Runetotem and Malfurion Stormrage assist the players in tackling Ragnaros' many abilities in this new phase, finally putting out the Firelord's lights for good.
Heroic modes for the Ragnaros fight and others in the Firelands were also not available on the public test realm, making it that much more difficult for these hardcore raiding guilds to get time in on these encounters.
I am excited to hear about Paragon's time with these bosses in the Firelands. At only seven bosses, the Firelands is one of the more accessible raid zones, with a time commitment that feels far smaller than the monolithic endeavors of the past, like ICC or Ulduar. Has Firelands presented enough of a challenge to the top of the top guilds? Whatever the case, congratulations again! I hope that my guild will be at heroic Rag's door in the near future.

They mentioned their new partner, DREAM, so it's either a merge or they just raided together.

I was wondering the same thing. And poking around Paragon's site, I came across this:
http://www.paragon.fi/news/announcing-partnership-dream
...it looks like some sort of E-sports partnership. But I don't know too much about DREAM (梦想). And linkage about the particulars of DREAM and their E-sports is non-existant. Perhaps someone more in the know can shed better light on this.

You keep that closed-minded extremist shit out of my WoWinsider.

"You keep that closed-minded extremist shit out of my WoWinsider."
SR, Christwire is actually a tongue in cheek satirical website on just such extremists. It's just very convincing most of the time. :p
There's an article on there titled "World of Warcraft to Release Justin Bieber Expansion in August" if you don't believe me.
Stridez Jul 20th 2011 1:40AM
@ SR
It's not a serious site, it's satire. Just read the url on this link. Some are more obviously not serious than others.

Well, I'll be damned. I guess I should've actually looked around, but since I'm paranoid about links nowadays... bah.
Downvote away. I believe my comment was uncalled for.

Let's see the loot!

Hey, I think it's great that it's taken the best guilds of the world this long to knock this guy out on heroic mode. Kudos to them, as well as to Blizzard for making a tier of content that took longer than the first week to down. Smart design, and a helluva encounter.

3rd raid lockout is a long time?
wtf are you smoking...

"We've NEVER put as much effort into a kill as we now did on downing Heroic Ragnaros"
Sunaseni Jul 19th 2011 7:34PM
Damn, two entire weeks to beat one boss. Guess Ragnaros is pretty frackin' hard.
Skarn Jul 19th 2011 8:46PM
Some quotes from their website:
"We've NEVER put as much effort into a kill as we now did on downing Heroic Ragnaros."
"We wiped 500+ times on the boss, although I lost count at some point. Absolutely epic feeling after such an epic fight!"
Doesn't sound at all easy or fast to me!

"We've NEVER put as much effort into a kill as we now did on downing Heroic Ragnaros."
Primacy effect (the idea that things that are more recent, you remember better).
They spent weeks wiping on Lich King Heroic.
Still, they gave a great effort in downing ragnaros, and should be commended for that.

FIRELORD TITLE???
HOLY **** THAT IS AWESOME
Arrohon Jul 19th 2011 8:10PM
I bet that was on Aeton's To-Do list after becoming a fire mage. Step 1: Become fire mage. Step 2: Become Firelord Aeton. Step 3: Win.... too bad he was toasted by a warlock.
Ilmyrn Jul 19th 2011 8:10PM
Congratulations to them. Hopefully my raid will be at Ragnaros soon. Unfortunately we've been a bit sidetracked, as two of our main healers disappeared the week Firelands came out. Makes it a bit hard to learn fights when you've got different healers each week.

I'll have to wait till I'm 95 and can solo Rag with my hunter pet.
Strawder Jul 20th 2011 1:44AM
HAH! Or use your L95 Paladin's Laser Eye Beams to take him out while solo tankin' him, right? :D I LOL'd big time (though I know the feeling all too well, sob)
niko Jul 19th 2011 8:58PM
Have you read the number of attempts they had on Rag? It was 500+!
Tell me how many times your guild attempts bosses before downing them, then account for the fact that you are going on proven strategies that guilds like these FIGURE OUT by trial and error, then tell me you come even close to the amount of dedication these guys have put out for the past couple weeks. These arent normal talent; these peeps are pro! Normal guilds would take many, many months to clear what these guys do in two weeks; gotta give them credit.
Gotta give Blizz credit also... merely because it wasn't done in the first week! These groups are insatiable, so fending them off even two weeks means something.
