The Queue: Waking flames

My plea for rain on Monday actually worked. Who knew I held that kind of power? Except it's still hot as heck, and I demand more. Give me your rain, people. All of it.
Marco asked:
The Flamewalkers in the Firelands resemble the naga quite a bit. Is there any natural link between the 2 races? Are they related in some way? Or did blizzard take the easy way and model them after the naga's skeleton and design to save time?
I don't believe there is any lore connection between the flamewakers and the naga. It's like you said: They just happen to share a skeletal structure in the game. The naga were elves transformed by the Old Gods' influence. The flamewakers are fire elementals, but they are unique in that they are flesh and blood elementals. Flamewakers are native to the elemental planes.
It's possible the Old Gods transformed the naga in the flamewakers' image, but since both creatures have roots in real-life mythology, they were probably added to the Warcraft universe independently. The naga are based on Earth's nāga, and the flamewakers are based on salamanders.
Murdertime asked:
Why did Arthas never bother making any more of the original style deathknights? They seem to be more powerful than the kind he was been making and I assume there's some more Orcish necromancers about, with some of them even working for him. And it's not as if it's hard to make more dead human knights. I mean, he did make himself so I'd assume he knows how. So why bother with all these guys who couldn't even clear Stratholme?
Ner'zhul doesn't necessarily know how to create that brand of death knight -- or if he did at one time, he may not anymore since becoming the Lich King. It's also possible the old orcish brand of death knight isn't actually any better than what the Scourge can make from an in-world perspective. Teron Gorefiend was pretty bad ass, but we killed him just the same as Deathbringer Saurfang. Ultimately, it didn't matter a whole lot.
mikebulko asked:
Is there some new mechanic for the random dungeons that pairs specific DPS together? I've noticed that it never seemed to put two of the same class/role in the same group, but this week for every random I did on my hunter there was always a warlock and rogue for the other dps slots. Even if one dropped/was kicked, they'd be replaced by that same class.
The dungeon finder tries to avoid putting classes that share armor types together. It won't always succeed, but ideally, you won't end up with multiple cloth DPSers or multiple plate DPSers and so on. It tries to ensure as little loot competition as possible, to maximize everybody's potential rewards.
Scott asked:
Is WoW Insider sending a contingent of intrepid reporters to San Diego Comic Con?
We wish. Blizzard's one panel at SDCC isn't enough for us to justify sending a whole team out there, but hopefully we'll have at least one person on the ground.
If you're there and you see something particularly cool, please let us know via our tip line!

Slight queue related in that it's a question: Where's my About the Bloggers article? I thought they came out on Tuesday. I know you guys aren't done yet. None of the Mat(t)s have had one yet.
Alex Ziebart Jul 20th 2011 11:08AM

I've been netless since I moved 3 weeks ago (the day before 3.2 came out in america :( ), is there a summary of all the major WoW stories that I've missed?

Oh and if you hear anything about Sacco and a dry erase board- it was a joke. A very cruel joke.
Arrohon Jul 20th 2011 1:15PM
3.2? Anything but 3.2! I refuse to go to that hellish ToC! If I have to.... you meant 4.2? Sorry about that.
Henri Poincaré Jul 21st 2011 3:49AM
@ Grovin et al.: if married = buried, and Thrall is now married but not dead, does that mean he's (metaphorically, ofc) buried alive? The question generalizes, of course.

Q for the Queue:
How long do you think it will take China to make a WoW Insider-based theme park, complete with people walking around in giant Mike Sacco mascot costumes, an actual queue to wait in, and a ride where you swing on Rossi's beard.
Oh and lets not forget--
*distracted by theme park's puupy petting zoo*

"complete with people walking around in giant Mike Sacco mascot costumes" - that might be worth the trip. I'd like to punch him in the - hey, how you doin'? (not really Mikey- I would NEVER harm you :p)

I want to ride the Fox Van Allen Go 'Round.
Wraithanne Jul 20th 2011 1:48PM
I thought Fox Van Allen would have had a coaster called The Face Melter. It's of course a kiddie coaster but hey, it's accurate.
This flame was not paid for by Dawn Moore...but donations are accepted ;)

It's worth considering that in WC 2, Death Knights were fairly fragile. They were primarily casters.
Also, Teron Gorefiend. There's a guy that needs to return. He'd make a killer Ebon Blade leader.
MattKrotzer Jul 20th 2011 4:15PM
Literally, I would guess.
Grovinofdarkhour Jul 20th 2011 11:12AM
It's so freaking hot, I actually found myself getting an iced coffee this morning instead of a regular coffee.
Signs of the armageddon, people. Keep your eyes open... they're everywhere.
Bynde Jul 20th 2011 11:17AM
Yeah, he midwest and east are the RL Firelag Zone the next few weeks.
Tim Jul 20th 2011 11:19AM
I know! It's so hot, my sweat is sweating.
