Phat Loot Phriday: Firemind Pendant

"It's the Firemind Pendant," the druid said. "Healing amulet. Very good for someone who hasn't quite managed to get into the Firelands yet. It's doing its job admirably."
"So, he'll be okay?" the blood elf asked. His voice sounded rough and relieved.
"Definitely," the druid responded, sitting on the raw earth. "We need to get him to a city soon, for food and water. But he's fine."
Lolegolas nearly collapsed into a sitting position, spreading his legs haphazardly before him. "Well, that's over. We can get back to bad jokes and random adventures."
"Aren't you forgetting something?" the druid asked. "You have a challenge of your own to overcome here soon."
"One thing at a time, worgen. One thing at a time."

dirac Jul 22nd 2011 8:27PM
Aah, an epic ending, an impending return to epic humor, and a promise of epic stories to come.
Well done sir.

"Aren't you forgetting something?" the druid asked. "You have a challenge of your own to overcome here soon."
Ok, maybe it's just me, but how awesome would it be to see Lolegolas, Throgg, and Notspot as contenders in Two Bosses Enter? I mean, if the Cardboard Assassin can enter, why not these three?
The epicness.....

Well done. There was epic a'plenty in every post!

Please don't make us wait too long before another epic adventure happens! I don't mind the bad jokes and whatnot, but these past few weeks have made PLP a must-read column, due primarily to the story you wrote for our heroes...
Well done, good sir. Well done, indeed.

WHAT HAPPENED TO THE SHOW THIS WEEK GUYS! D:

Spirit leather: Usable by all caster classes that use leather.
Spirit mail: Usable by all caster classes that use mail.
Spirit cloth: Usable by 1 caster class that use cloth.
With only 7 loot tables in Firelands, blizzard has to make items more usable by everyone. Having gear that's only useful for a grand total of ONE class doesn't help much. Having gear without spirit makes it usable by all cloth classes, including healers, since reforging allows you to stay in comfortable spirit grounds.

Only one class uses caster leather (druids, both resto and balance); only one class uses caster mail (shamans, both resto and elemental); only one class uses spirit cloth (priests of all three specs). So the spirit-using population is fairly evenly balanced between druids, shaman and priests (although priests have a third spirit-using spec, compared to the other classes' two). And then there are holy pallies, who also like spirit on their gear.
Compare with, say, agi mail (hunters and enh shamans; four specs total), agi leather (feral druids and rogues; five specs total if bears are counted separately from cats), caster cloth (mages, warlocks, and to some extent shadow priests; seven specs total), or strength DPS plate (arms and fury warriors, unholy and frost DKs, ret pallies; five specs total), and it's obvious that spirit cloth/leather/mail/plate isn't as wanted, statistically speaking.
Non-armour gear, however - such as this neck - can be used by a far wider variety of specs; an agi ring can be used by two specs of druid, three specs of rogue, three specs of hunter, and one spec of shaman. A spirit neck is usable by all kinds of priest, two specs of shaman, two specs of druid, and holy pallies (eight specs total).
In short, I'm not sure what you're complaining about. Statistics are statistics.

@ Eregos ftw!
Remind me, if your analysis is soooo accurate, why does spirit plate exist again noob? Last time I check, exactly ONE spec of ONE class could use it, whereas Spirit Cloth is useful for at least 2 specs of one class, and I'll take a well optimized, geared healer over another generic DPS cloth-wearer any day.
Personally, I think the question should be, why aren't they considering making Spirit either useful for DPS specs in adding hit or something, like what Ele and Moonkin are forced to talent into for the benefit, otherwise your statement of spirit on Leather and Mail armor being useful for those caster classes is incorrect.

... can in-game worgen even have red manes like that?
Spider Jul 23rd 2011 2:53AM
Nah, I think those were the Beta hairstyles that were replaced with the more feral manes.
Spider Jul 23rd 2011 2:53AM
Waiting for Blizz to put in-game tributes to these characters somewhere. :D

Spirit Plate exists because the only other plate in the game is Strength Plate. Holy Pallies can't heal with spiritless Strength Plate.
Priests CAN heal with spiritless caster cloth. If they gave Spirit to Hit talents to Mages and Warlocks, you'd STILL be fighting with them over gear.
Not to mention my limited It's-four-in-the-morning Wowhead-fu confirms that there is a spirit piece for every one of your slots except belt (maybe one or two more. I don't care enough), except that they're crafted or purchased from vendors. I'd rather have that than not having it drop at all, or god forbid, having it drop and losing the roll.

Awesome.
I can see it now ... Notspot is struggling with Ozruk's paralyze and has not moved to escape the impending Shatter. While at a dead run, Throgg mutters a curse under his breath and tosses a stick while yelling "FETCH!". Roused from his revery, Notspot uses Darkflight to move out of Shatter range. Once at a safe distance and with eyes narrowed, he calmly states "We will discuss this "fetching" business later."

Comment fail ... was supposed to be a response to Alcoma on the Two Bosses Enter suggestion.
Nagaina Jul 23rd 2011 12:25PM
I'd pay good money to read that. :)
