Breakfast Topic: Forget the rabbit foot -- who's your lucky pet?

He really didn't seem all that special when I bought him from a young boy wandering in Stormwind. Sure, he was cute; sure, he was somewhat rare. But my White Kitten was just one pet among the hundred I needed for an achievement. I bought him and left him in the ghetto of my random pet macro.
Then came heroic Anub'Arak. On a whim, I summoned a pet for luck. That run, it finally clicked; everyone drove their spikes to proper ice patches, and the healers kept most of us alive, even if the main tank died a few seconds before the end. And when I looked down, there he was, purring proudly at me.
Since then, my White Kitten hasn't left my side. He's been there for Argent Tournament Tribute runs. He was with me when we killed Arthas. He was there when we completed our achievements for the Icecrown drake. He even was along when we went back and killed Yogg-Saron to get our raid leader his long-overdue mace. And although our progression has stalled a little in Cataclysm, you can bet he's dodging skeletons, swimming in lava, and cheering us on as we attempt to kill Nefarian.
Who's your lucky pet?

I don't feel comfortable calling him a "pet", but I love my little Argent Squire. My favorite thing is to call him up and then mount on my quel'dorei steed. His pony is a miniature version of the quel'dorei steed and I just squee at the adorableness as he follows me around.

+1 for Argent Squire in Arena matches

Definitely my pet mechanostrider. The first time I healed on my pally was right after call to arms was released. We went through and one shot all the bosses and I managed to keep everyone alive during the dungeon. Got the mechanopeep in my first CtA bag and it hasn't left me since.

I love my Scrambles: The Death Dealer. He's my giant sewer rat. Every character i have that i care about has him. Scrambles: The Death Dealer is capable of dodging boss attacks and wave of adds in the most nonchalant way possible.
And if i don't have Scrambles: The Death Dealer out? He's in the Dalaran sewers hitting up the ladies sewer rats.

My Giant Sewer Rat, Kenshin, is my good luck charm as well. In fact, everyone was calling him the Lucky Rat during the Tournament raid as well. I love me my rat!

Worg Pup - was my first pet I ever had in WoW, back when they were an item that took up space in your 18 slot bags.
I only pull him out in raids, but its b/c of him I have won the Ashes of Alar 2 times (runs where the ashes are reserved, but winner of the roll gets a large chunk of gold)

"No pet" is my lucky pet. Having pets out during raids tends to trip our people up.
I insist all pets be put away during progression runs in my guild.
Yes, I am a meanie spoilsport no-fun-having doodiehead.

I can kind of relate to that. I seem to click on my pet when trying to loot something 50% of the time. Funny how they end up standing right where you need to loot. Don't really have a "lucky pet". I will try and pay more attention to things when I do have pets out and see how that works. I do have a favorite and his name is Egbert. And he runs like the wind to and fro.

Pets away because they're kind of silly and fun and therefore a distraction? Yeah ok whatever, I guess we'll just agree on your self analysis :p I don't think they matter that much, but at least that I can see.
However, if you're trying to make the argument that they actually affect lag or anything, sorry but no. If pets are the breaking point on someone's connection or framerate issues, that person isn't in a place to raid until they fix it. Sorry, but unless your entire team has the new Celestial Dragon out or something (there are a very very very few pets with big spell effects who are a bit spammy) that argument has always been a bit silly, and I see it way too often in pugs.

We used to have that rule back in ealry BC, as a lot of folks had trouble with lag, but no one seems to have that problem anymore. One advantage to WoW graphics staying low key -- even cheap computers handle them with ease these days.

Yep, "no minipets" is the rule for raiding... unless you happen to be the one kiting oozes on Rotface (for a raid mark and extra visibility). But only in that one situation, and it goes away afterward.
May not be fun, but it's much more functional when not everyone has awesome machines and certain rooms (without extra polygons to render) can make people DC.

Nothing to do with spoiling the fun - 25man raids are hard on my fps already and additional vanity pets make it worse. I get rather impatient when people have something completely useless cluttering up the screen. Pets are fine elsewhere, have them out while solo questing or parade them in Orgrimmar, but in raids there's no place for them.
Just my 0.02$.

Malmortis was my lucky pet for the week or so that he continued to follow me around after the quest in Zul'Drak.
He attacked hostile NPCs but wouldn't pull aggro (or do any actual damage, due the fact that he just seemed to slap them weakly), so I'd let him decide who I was going to attack next. He'll be sorely missed.

A friend of mine bought me the Gryphon Hatchling plushie for christmas. With the exception of one, all of our guild's first boss kills have involved little Griff Richards.

Baby Blizzard Bear -- I accidentally deleted him before I knew what Bind on Account meant. A GM restored him and I haven't let him leave my sight.
On my raid team, we insist that EVERYONE bring out their best non-com pet.
If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem ;)

The Cockroach! I swear, every time I don't have the little bugger out, BAD THINGS HAPPEN. I keep him out to avoid disaster and bring good fortune to my friends and to myself. It's truly unfortunate that he can't fly--lots of bad things tend to happen in the sky for some reason as a result. All of my friends have a /salute or /bow macro to worship the cockroach. We all seem to feel that if we don't pay homage to it, he will stop giving us his great and bountiful blessing.
... what?

I like this topic. After nights of wiping on fights for stupid reasons, I'll usually suddenly say "Okay, lucky pets out everyone!" and then lo and behold, everything falls into place and we finally get the kill.
On my druid, my most common lucky pet is her Teldrassil Sproutling. Shocking for a resto druid to have that, I know. When the luck on that seems to run out, I'll pull out her worg or Cenarion hatchling.
My paladin's lucky pet is her Tranquil Mechanical Yeti.
It makes me giggle to see all of these horde characters rushing a boss with cute little pets following. Nothing like seeing an orc warrior being followed around by a cute little pig. The only pet I insist people don't have out during raids is that freaking sunflower. It was cute at first, but now the singing, especially during fight explanations, annoys me to no end.

The Yeti is my paladin's lucky pet, too :)
