Breakfast Topic: Have you found any "secret" locations?
If there is one thing to say about the World of Warcraft, it is that it is enormous and seamless. Blizzard loves Easter eggs and has hidden secrets and secret areas all across the entire world. It goes without saying that you have found at least one or two of these secret areas. Some people even make it a hobby of finding and claiming secret areas.
Note that there is a difference between secret areas and areas only reachable by exploit. The first is intended by Blizzard, but the second is a bannable offense. Do not try and exploit your way to Old Ironforge (especially since you can just walk in now as of 4.1!), and do not try to enter Mount Hyjal, or else the Guardians of Bliz-- okay, so maybe my knowledge of secret areas is a bit dated, but I still enjoy the hunt for them!
Some guilds, especially on RP realms, even use and claim secret areas and locations as their headquarters and sometimes even hold guild meetings in these lcoations. This is a great alternative to player housing, and Blizzard actually encourages people and guilds to find and enjoy such fantastic locations. With Deathwing's emergence and flying mounts now available in Kalimdor and the Eastern Kingdoms, previously unreachable areas are now just a short flight away, so there are more tucked-away locations than ever!
What secret locations have you found, and which is your favorite? Do you often go there? Does your guild have any special spot to claim as its own?

The fairy ring in Tirisfal Glades is a personal favorite!

I came across that the day before it was featured here.

There's a campsite right behind Dun Morough it's fairly difficult to find as you have to actually fly there then look for it on a ground mount, but it's one of my favourite places as you can see the stubbed out campfire and the stuff left behind by whoever else used it, there are more that I've found, but the simplicity of that is what I like :)

I loved the secret tauren village, they seemed to have deleted it though. :( The cave south of Silithus is still there though.

There is no cow level.

I remember finding that and being completely in awe. I still to this day have no idea what it was doing there.

finding the pirates cave & ship between arathi highlands & Wetlands while doing the explorer achievement
ZeroDesu Jul 24th 2011 10:26AM
You mean the Blackwater Raiders ship? That's not a secret area, if that's it. It was part of a quest chain in vanilla. Plus, there's a server named after them...
alzeer Jul 24th 2011 10:51AM
i thought it was in pretty hidden area because i only found it by mistake
still in cataclysm its easier to find
and regarding the server name , i have no idea where at least 20% of servers names came from
Noyou Jul 24th 2011 3:54PM
I would say it's hidden if 80-90% of the players don't know where it is. Shoot, most players need to spam chat to find where to get their racial mounts at, which is completely sad. To me a good part of the fun is exploring and finding out things on my own (or with a friend).
As adventurous as I tend to be I still never manage to find hidden spots on my own. I did have a friend show me how to get underneath SW and the Ironforge airport (before cata). Both which I never would have found on my own :p

The little farm on the Wetlands coast near the Twilight Highlands has been claimed by a member of my RP guild on Sentinels-US as his personal home.
It's private, secluded and not really near any flight paths.
Whenever anyone mentions "Az's Farm" we all know what they mean.

Now that you mention that, I will have to go there. hehe. My guild Shinanji is also based on Sentinels. I love that server.
After being on several servers this one and Zangramarsh has some pretty cool people on it.

Wow, no mention of "Pool of Peacebloom" yet?

I doubt it is really a 'secret' these days, but back in the old days "Cut-Throat Alley" (located through The Shady Lady off the canals in Dwarven District) was a place that lived up to its name. Not patrolled by Stormwind Guards, a horde lock could ride in and log out for a couple of hours/days ready for some future fun.
A guard get pulled in through the bar and...
[Local Defense] **Stormwind is under attack**
Alliance heroes rush to front gates and to the tram entrances... nobody there. Rinse and repeat and those poor folk can't even fathom where they are being attacked from.
After being joined by a couple of rogue/druid friends, a quick summoning stone conjured up and an entire army of horde could then be camped inside the city ready for an attack from the inside. Again, a soft pull and it cleared the focus away from Bolvar and the throne room for a swift attack.
But apparently it isn't only fun for the horde. On my alliance-sided RP realms, back in the vanilla days, was when I first discovered this place and stumbled, rather accidentally, into the alley and went into the house at the end of the street. There were a couple of dwarves and a young human female involved in - *gulp* - debauchery. Even now, years on, those images... haunt me. That laughter, the russian dancing, the braided hair on the men... very disturbing. This is, perhaps, why the pub is known as The Shady Lady...
I should have got her number.

I had no idea the Alley, or even The Shady Lady existed! Just went and found them now, I'm amazed I never noticed them before! Thanks for pointing them out! :D

What my guild does is get 20 or 30 people together in a raid, I (undead rogue) get into the basement, and use mass summons. Once everyone is here, they leave the raid, join another raid group, then they use their mass summons. so before you know it, we have 80 horde standing around this basement.

I just recently found this place myself. I have long-time guildies that had no clue where I was talking about. Now, it is my own personal hide-out
