The Queue: The one with a pun

Get excited, people.
Vector asked:
Is anybody else super bummed that the new Guild episode released today is only available on XBL? I mean, I can watch it when I get home from work, but what percentage of the MMO community is missing out because of this?
It's only a short delay. I believe the episode will be available for all audiences on Thursday (that's tomorrow.) Considering Microsoft sponsors the show and it's the company that allows it to happen, I think it's reasonable for Microsoft to get a little exclusivity out of the deal. In other words, without Microsoft and XBL, we'd all be unGuilded.
walkerspace asked:
Am I a bad person for killing Karkin?
Yes. Absolutely. You probably shouldn't do that!
styopa asked:
Has there been ANY whisper of response from Blizzard on the idea of reputation shared across toons on the same side on the same server? (Or at least make the reputation rewards/purchaseable gear BoA?) They've done a good job of removing 'silly grindy bits' for everything except reputation.
I don't think the developers have ever said anything about this. I'm all for reducing grinds, but there comes a point where you're just asking for characters after your first to be automated. Should everything transfer from one character to the next? Probably not. Where do you draw the line? Reputation? Levels? Gear?
I don't think Blizzard would transfer rep across characters, but it might. Who knows?
chriskinzey asked:
I got killed by Deathwing in Arathi Highlighands the other day. Does Deathwing torch the major cities (Stormwind, Orgrimmar, etc.) like he does the other areas?
No.
juxul asked:
At what time does auctioneer Hesse in the Dwarven District of Storwind change into his worgen form?
Auctioneer Hesse's transformation is timed to exactly match Azeroth's day/night cycle. He transforms into a worgen at 9:00 p.m. server time and reverts into human form at 5:30 a.m.

Took me a moment to realize Cutaia meant Fox News, not Fox Van Allen.
Tirrimas Jul 27th 2011 11:43AM
Oh Matt! Don't be hatin' on our Fox!
(It took the second reading for me to get the possible double meaning, then it made me smile. But I don't think cutaia meant OUR Fox. ...right?)

Thanks for the clarification!

Hunter Thompson used to do that type of thing all the time. When he was covering the '72 presidential campaign he spread the idea that Muskie was a drug-addled weirdo, just because it made for a funny story.
Some people, not realizing that Thompson sometimes just made crap up, believed it.
How much he counts as a "serious journalist" is obviously up for debate. :)

@MattKrotzer
That's quite sad....

YOU'RE sad.
OOOOOOHHHHHHH
cloudhopper013 Jul 27th 2011 3:18PM
... I'm sorry for that. Gave into temptation.

@(cutaia) As opposed to CBS News, New York Times, MSNBC, or Huffington Post, all of which have been caught either faking news outright or not retracting things when they are caught slanting the news to fit their agenda?
If you are going to be a kool-aid drinking libtard, at least come up with something better than slamming Fox News or at least download the latest talking points from Dear Leader...

I need to actually watch the Guild sometime. I noticed it was on my Netflix the other day so I know what I'll be doing tonight.
Sinnh Jul 27th 2011 1:11PM
so am i the only person that doesn't like the Guild? I only watched the first episode (season...) but it just felt like they didn't push the parody/satire far enough. i don't think i'm saying it felt too realistic, rather it didn't feel outrageous enough.

Who cares about the plot?
I just like looking at Felicia Day.

So here's a question I've been trying to figure out for quite some time now.
In the Warcraft games, the K'valdir are ghosts. In the shattering novel, they are described as being actual living vrykul that are basically using a bit of trickery to scare the bejeezus out of people and make them think they are ghosts.
My question is, are the K'valdir from the game REAL K'valdir and the ones from Shattering just vrykul trying to ride on the coattails of the K'valdir? Or are the K'valdir actually living beings and the in game representation is just a bit of fantastical exaggeration? What is the deal with the K'valdir? This kinda bugged me a bit as I was reading Shattering and I'm really hoping to finally get an answer to this idea. Even if it's simply speculation, something that can help alleviate my confusion a bit would be much appreciated.

Q: Why do Kvaldir disintegrate into seaweed when they die?
A: The Kvaldir typically reside deep in the ocean, where their corporeal forms would be crushed if their mistweaving magics didn't hold off the ravages of the depths. Although they remain flesh and blood in life, their deaths result in a backlash of mistweaving energies, dissolving the Kvaldir into mist over time. All that remains are patches of sea growth that had accumulated on their bodies and, of course, any loot they were carrying.
Rhüarc Jul 27th 2011 12:21PM
I've read both of those, but the issue is the fact that, in Shattering: Prelude to the Cataclysm, the "K'valdir" that are fought at Hellscreams Landing are physical, living, corporeal beings that leave behind actual corpses, not just a pile of seaweed and other miscellaneous junk. That's where my confusion comes from.
Artificial Jul 27th 2011 12:26PM
Whereas in the game, they are physical, living, corporeal beings that leave behind seaweed and mist. In neither are they ghosts, non-physical, non-corporeal, or non-living. Chalk it up to limitations of the video game format or the fact that in a video game, many people don't want it to be too graphic, even if it can be.
Skarn Jul 27th 2011 4:38PM
Understood, Artificial, but it's not a game limitation problem. The Shattering specifically says there is nothing special about the Kvaldir. In the book they do NOT explode in a shower of sea water as they do in-game. Yet the CDev answer says that they SHOULD. There's a disconnect. Someone didn't communicate somewhere. My guess is that they just missed it while Christie Golden was writing the book. Something that fell between the QA cracks, much like the Hakkar/Hakkar mix up in the War of the Ancients or the Draenei origin mix-up.
Just to be very clear: The Shattering novel SPECIFICALLY states that the Kvaldir are normal vrykul that die like normal vrykul. No mist, seaweed, or whatnot.
In-game and according to the official CDev blue post linked by here by Spectres, Kvaldir SHOULD explode into seawater and mist, even though they ARE flesh and blood.
There is a contradiction here between two official sources. I think it's just a screw-up.
Rhüarc Jul 27th 2011 5:18PM
Thanks for your input on the question Skarn. While I definitely appreciate the input from the others, it's the fact that in the books it IS specifically stated there's nothing special about the K'valdir that had me so thrown off.
Pumabackup Jul 27th 2011 11:03PM
the way i like to look at it is that during the war in Northrend, both forces encountered actual Kvaldir, and found them to be so terrifying due to their ghost-like presence (caused by the mist-weaving magic that made them evaporate on death), that the other Vrykul would dress up as them so as to confuse and terrify their enemies. In the Shattering, it was Garrosh who discovered their ploy, and revealed that all the attacking Vrykul at that specific time were nothing more than normal Vrykul masquerading as Kvaldir to scare their enemies, and make them easier to slaughter.

Q4Q: I normally read the Queue and the other articles on my phone andthe format recently changed from the mobile version to the version that you get when on a computer. My question is that is there any way to return it back to the mobile format?
