You learn new stuff every day. This is a very informative post and one which I hope those on twitter will re-tweet and others will pass on. NB: Pre-potting.

Definitely pre-potting. I know I've read about it before but it hasn't stuck in my mind for maxing out the DPS. Now that I've got a steady supply of STR pots, I shall remember to do this.

Lol prepotting, I still hear "5, 4, 3, 2, pre-pot, pull" in my dreams from my guild raids.

I havent pre-potted since the introduction of vengeance. Tanks dont have enough threat that early in the fight. I have to slow dps even without pre-potting, so that would just be a complete waste of a pot.

I echo gewalt's comment. For some classes, and some players, pre-potting will get you killed. If you overtake the tank before he has sufficient threat, you'll be wasting a battle rez on an avoidable death.

It's usually not so bad if you have a hunter/rogue to make sure they get a misdirect/tricks off the start. By the time that threat wears off vengeance will be stacked and threat should be laughable so I still do it.
Ret paladins are the only ones I see still have issues with it, but if they use Salv they're fine.
