I use Archy for most of my Archaeology needs. I detached the survey button and from the UI and moved it close to my mount buttons so I can easily move back and forth between the two. Plus it comes with a pre-set color indicator on the button so you can match that up to the survey equipment itself. It's not perfect but it does help a lot. Plus, iirc, it also has the ability to show the boundaries of the digsite on your minimap and will overflow that if you allow it - which makes it much easier to figure out if you're still in the right area without having to look at the big map. (It also helps when you're flying into a digsite so you know when you've crossed the boundary.)
