This is part of what I wrote in response to that "meh" Arcane Brilliance last week. A miniguide for the bosses as a mage. Here the Alysrazor part:
This is the fight you kept the Fire spec around for. It is the highest DPS spec for this fight when you take to the air bar none. Do not change your gemming from mastery>crit>haste. You want to be as close to 100% crit when you get Alysra's Razor as possible, your own haste will get darfed by the stacking haste buff anyway and mastery greatly improves your DoT damage in this fight. Learning the flying bit can be a bit challenging, especially running on an older rig with choppy framerates, but done right, one Fire Mage on 10 man can easily scrape off 10% of her HP during the flight phase and a lot more during the burn out. While flying avoid the clouds and go for the rings. If you don't get a ring for a little while, you will fall down and need another feather to get back up. If you do this fast enough you can maintain your buff stack and still get the Razor buff for 75% extra crit unless you fail more then once. Be sure to follow Alysrazor at a moderate distance so you can easily grab the rings. Should you be late spotting a ring, don't bother to try and get it if it is too far away, it will likely disappear before you get there and also cause you to miss the next one. Be certain to grab the last ring when she is close to the ground, there is a fairly long time between that one and the next ring up high, missing it will likely make you fall. While flying maintain standard fire rotation for a bit. At some point your Fireball casts will go below the global cooldown. At this point it gets better to start hard-casting Pyroblast. When she yells "The Skies are Mine!" head to the ground asap after catching the last ring. Dodging tornadoes isn't too hard, but as Fire here you have a chance to pull off some insane numbers. If you feel up to it, try and keep dps'ing Alysrazor as good as you can while also taking a ring once in a while. Ideally this will keep building up your Ignite stack, when she crashes to the ground, pop any spellpower trinkets you may have and keep nuking with pyroblast. Keep a close eye on your haste buff and her energy. When she reaches about 30 you want to pop Combustion, and a bit before that, the Moonwell Chalice if you have it. If you did well with your ignite stacks, your Combustion can easily do 3.5-5 million damage alone. Just be sure to pop MIs when the tanks have to pick her up :). If you have trouble DPS'ing her while dodging tornadoes, don't be foolish and die. As long as you manage to keep your haste/crit stack up by passing a ring or two in this phase, your Combustion can still easily do 2 million damage even if you need to build Ignites again.
