Blizzard registers Mists of Pandaria trademark

While it is not confirmed that Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, it very well could be. We don't exactly know what the next expansion has in store for WoW players, but we are certain to find out at BlizzCon. Mists of Pandaria could be an expansion that opens up many islands still as of yet explored and populated by players on Azeroth and could potentially provide some new land grabs for the Horde and the Alliance to quarrel over after Deathwing's demise. Whether or not the Pandaren race will be playable is definitely up in the air, but Blizzard has apparently had issues with bringing panda people into the game in the past. Personally, I would much rather prefer another space exploration expansion like The Burning Crusade, as we've been on Azeroth for two expansions already, and I think it's time to head to the stars again.

Brewmaster hero class. Calling it now!
MusedMoose Aug 2nd 2011 8:36PM
BRB, reserving amazingly appropriate dwarven name. ^_^

Or monks. Whatever it is, I think a hero class is definitely a better possibility than new playable races.

MusedMoose: Beerd
Easily the best Dwarf name ever.

With an appropriate hero class mount to go with it, a panda battle-bear!

Well so far, the pattern has been races > class > races. The logical guess would be the next expansion will yield a new class, even though they admitted before it was hell to balance. People would be pretty miffed to not get either a new race or a new class, and adding two new races each expansion would get silly pretty fast imho (see: EQ2's selection of races).

Name of patch 4.3 or a CCG expansion. Calling it now. :)
devilsei Aug 2nd 2011 10:44PM
Eh, 99.999999% sure its just a Card game thing. They've been pretty adamant about keeping the Panda race as nothing more than fleeting glimpses in Azeroth, like a Bigfoot...

why would it be part of the tcg when the tcg has been based on the game`s current expansion
Bill Aug 2nd 2011 11:18PM
@devilsei If you actually read MMO-champion's post they said the international codes Blizzard used on the patent are associated with their online video games, NOT their other products.

The official name for Titan, the casual MMO. Calling it now.
Vaeku Aug 3rd 2011 4:10AM
@Zaniac
No, Titan is based on an entirely new IP. It will have nothing to do with Blizzard's existing game series.
Zaniac Aug 3rd 2011 4:50AM
@Vaeku
You are right. I posted before thinking.
Also, the more I read the speculation, the more it actually seems likely to be the next expansion. Except for the content issue.
A single island nation doesn't sound like enough for an expansion. There's bound to be more than just that. Perhaps either a part of The Emerald Dream, or another realm under attack by The Legion...

I hope it's not the Brewmaster - We've already got the title, the alchemy profession, and I know a lot of RPers who already play Brewmasters.
My call would go to Monk, a Melee DPS/Healing (and -possibly- also Holy Spell DPS)

I imagine there will be a lot more than just Pandaria, but according to some rumors I've been reading since last night Blizz has said the new expansion would have a new Continent, which makes since, Azeroth is kinda small for a planet and it does feel as if there should be something below the two continents (or the one split into 3, Kalimindor, EK, NR).
My guess is that there is something to do with Azshara and the Naga capital of Nazjatar as well as Pandaria, the Undermine and possibly Kul Tiras.
Also, IF Blizz adds another class, I bet it's one that starts at level 1 and not 55 or w/e like DK's

I don't know why it is assumed that Pandaria would be an island, a continent or an archipelago. Given that we have already travelled to a ruined and mostly barren planet, why could we not travel to a lush and thriving planet.
Sargeras is interested in annihilating all life on all planets, afterall. We have had 2 consecutive expansions which left us rattling around Azeroth after out foray into the great unknown. Who knows exactly where Khadgar, Turalyon and Alleria ported to in order to avoid getting blown up with Draenor. Were portals to Pandaria opened from Draenor? Do any of these portals still exist? Who says the Emerald Dream is limited to only Azeroth?
This would be a perfect time to combine travel to another planet, advancing the story with Sargeras and exploring the Emerald Dream along with discovering new races/classes.

I'm not sure having a few jokes of panda's in the game would count towards "current ip", I think it's most likely the new mmo since blizzard has said they don't want to butcher in pandarians. Why not include them in the new ip, with a mythos that can make sense around them. Not to far of a stretch in my mind.
BrentJackson Aug 2nd 2011 8:33PM
Blizzard is trolling us.
Pandaria.
PANDARIA?!?
Dreyja Aug 2nd 2011 8:39PM
Exactly. They be totally messing with us. Kudos for throwing people off the trail of the real thing though. XD
Ronin Aug 2nd 2011 8:43PM
I don't see any reason to think they registered a trademark and bought a domain, just to "troll" us. You might remember that there were similar responses when word of Goblins and Worgen first started filtering out...
