Blizzard registers Mists of Pandaria trademark

While it is not confirmed that Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion, it very well could be. We don't exactly know what the next expansion has in store for WoW players, but we are certain to find out at BlizzCon. Mists of Pandaria could be an expansion that opens up many islands still as of yet explored and populated by players on Azeroth and could potentially provide some new land grabs for the Horde and the Alliance to quarrel over after Deathwing's demise. Whether or not the Pandaren race will be playable is definitely up in the air, but Blizzard has apparently had issues with bringing panda people into the game in the past. Personally, I would much rather prefer another space exploration expansion like The Burning Crusade, as we've been on Azeroth for two expansions already, and I think it's time to head to the stars again.

No, the international codes 009 and 041 only seems to appear on Blizzard's online games trademarks.

And what do we know is coming out in a year?
WoW: TCG Online.

I've just asked the Chen Stormstout figure on my desk, and he said yes, this is the title of the 4th WoW expansion.

Diablo 3 creating some waves among internet-savvy gamers? Better tease a WoW expansion. Also, Blizzard are now on a horse.

Why does it have to be an xpac? It could just as well be WoW 4. I know people are for some reason swearing by the leaked production slate, but people kept insisting that the WoW xpac chart that was circulating ever since vanilla was true till it got debunked with cata.

@Prelimar How so? Naga used to be Night Elves, why couldn't they be "redeemed" and brought back into the Alliance? I'd rather have Pandaren, but I'm just sayin'.
Ronin Aug 2nd 2011 8:58PM
Wow, the comment system just doesn't want to cooperate.

Probably for the same reason satyrs won't join the Alliance; the night elves would sooner kill them than work with them. Plus, y'know, the whole "overwhelmingly evil servants of the Old Gods" thing.

To be fair, until this most recent expansion, the exact same thing could have been said about the Highborne.
Blizz has proven time and time again that they are more than able to craft convincing story hooks to bring in races to the factions. Much as I'd hate to see Naga become playable, the storyline isn't going to be the hurdle to overcome if they do.
That said, I -seriously- doubt we will ever see a non-bipedal race become playable.

Trolls haven't bailed on the horde because elves joined. We just got a raid out of it.

I knew the wow leaked xpac list was true!
The list got everything right for WOTLK before it was announced on August 3rd, 2007
(but people often discuss if it was leaked after or before wotlk announcement)
But it definitely got right most of the cata stuff (there was absolutely NO WAY someone could have guessed that EXACTLY Skywall, Deepholm, The Abyssal Maw and TheFirelands were going to be in a xpac and it also had Gilneas, Grim Batol, kezan and maelstorm right, although it was referring to another xpac.
Blizz also mentioned on the blizzcon that cata was going to be their 4th expansion and they changed their plans at some point. Now for the next expansion, going back to the original plan, pandarian would have to be in. And it seems now that it's in!
Of course things changes a bit during development, assuming the list was true, it has been six years! Cataclysm got stuff from the 'plane set' and some of those islands of the 'maelstorm set'.
Now the next xpac will have the other islands left (broken islands, kul tiras, tel abin, zandalar, plunder island) and the emerald nightmare.
Which will all eventually end when we fight the burning legion on the twisting nether, finishing the list!

THAT'S IT.
Blizzard knows about the list, clearly - they specifically chose THIS name because they know people would whip out that list and say "it's true!!!1!11!" while they can carry on with the ACTUAL next expansion.
Oh Blizzard, excellent red herring, brilliant play.

"The list got everything right for WOTLK before it was announced on August 3rd, 2007"
That's because it was written in September of 2007, as the author admitted in the very same message where he admitted it was all a hoax.

pandren == shark jumping
god I hope this is a joke. I guess we will all grow out of this game sooner or later but I was not ready yet. what a total fail glad i did not get blizzcon tix.
Utakata Aug 2nd 2011 9:12PM
Real ID fiasco and the Sparkle Pony where the shark jumping. Mists of Pandaria is when Happy Days where brought into the 80's after the fact to boost sinking ratings.
Ronin Aug 2nd 2011 9:14PM
Maybe you could explain why that would be jumping the shark? Just dismissively calling it a joke isn't going to cut it.

I have bad news for you son.
I am 53, have a 21 year old son, and a 17 year old daughter.
I started playing WOW Day One, and I am still playing.
You never "outgrow" this game.
