Ragnaros awakened in Minecraft
These Minecraft builds do use game mods or third-party tools, and there are blocks incorporated into the designs that cannot be placed by players (such as the blocks of Coal in Deathwing) -- but cool is cool, regardless of how something is made. Many viewers of the Ragnaros video have commented that he looks a bit ... green. However, kattooMC assured everyone it was just a result of video encoding. As a Minecraft player myself, I'll back him up on that. I know what yellow wool blocks look like when I see 'em.
According to kattoo via Twitter, Stormwind is next on their Warcraft to-do list. I, for one, can't wait to see it.

I think all that can be said is: Whoa.

Ironforge would be great, completely with lava in the middle. Going inside huge hollow mountains in Minecraft already gives me a similar feeling of awe to that of first going into IF.

There are several modes of play in Minecraft, so the point is a little different depending on which mode you are playing. Most of the videos you see around are built in Creative Mode, which is basically an endless box of legos like others have said.
The Survival mode, on the other hand, is much more interesting. Its basically a crafting system merged with a survival horror game. In Survival mode, nothing is handed to you - if you want something a stone pick, for instance, you have to go out and tear down the tree get the wood to make lumber to split into poles, then you combine the poles with some cobblestone to craft the pick. While the gathering of materials and the crafting of items is interesting in itself, you do all this in a world with a day night cycle, and when darkness falls, thats when the monsters start hunting you down. Spiders, Skeletons, and Zombies all want to rip you to little pieces, while the more original Creepers sneak up on you and explode, destroying terrain all around. The game can get really, REALLY tense, especially if you are caught outside or in a dark cave unprepared.

if you can't see the point of Minecraft, a video game, I can't understand how you see the point of WoW or any other game.

@ fris - Well, that's not true. There are games that appeal to people on a lot of different levels. I don't play EVERYTHING out there and some games just flat out seem boring to me. This is one of 'em. I've watched "let's plays," and talked to my myriad of friends who love it but - nope, not for me, not fun.
It's just a matter of taste, that's all. I can appreciate the amazing things people put the time into making but there's a ton of other things I'd rather be doing. XD
It wasn't meant as a downer but this one really does confound me. I don't get it because it looks amazingly boring but it's SO popular.

That'ssss a very nice firelord you have there...
RogueJedi86 Aug 2nd 2011 11:37PM
On another note, look at how damn big that Ragnaros is. It reminds me of "Shadow of the Colossus", especially the final one who had (non-spoiling) a roughly similar look(minus all the fire). Imagine climbing to the very top of that Ragnaros beast and stabbing him in the head to kill him, and to SotC music no less. Epic doesn't begin to describe it.

No, what would be seriously awesome and nearly impossible would be building a working, living Ironforge in Dwarf Fortress.
I think I might start working on it today, in fact.
