What's that, PvPers? That totally awesome special attack the Demon Hunter has completely dominates in PvP?

I seem to recall Diablo being a single-player game. Can I play Diablo III single-player? WoW is enough MMO for me.

All iterations of Diablo so far could be played as multi-player over battle.net, but the characters from offline games could not join. With requiring battle.net connections you should still be able to make private games, but from those private games you can visit multi-player if you like and also access the Auction House. Basically it will be solo for a. People like yourself who want some time to themselves b. People doing talent experiments. And c. People stacking themselves full of Magic Find and farming.
Any way wall of text say yes

Diablo 3 will have multiplayer options. And will also undoubtedly have an awesome single player mission.
However Blizz has set a very dangerous precedent by introducing a real money auction house in the game. That is followed by 3 points where blizz will deduct your real money for your auctions: a) posting charge b)sell charge c)transfer to paypal charge. In a game completely designed around working to get your next gear upgrade, they have made it into a farmer's goldmine. Secondly, they have disabled all modding. This I feel is the final blow to a vibrant community. Diablo 2's mods is what made the game stay alive for so long. Totalbiscuit made a video about this on Aug1, you can find this on youtube. And I happen to agree with him.
The game will sell, no doubt about that, and I will probably buy it too, but these 2 factors may severely impair how long I end up playing it.

WTB edit button.
Diablo3 will have auction houses for both real and in-game money. And I believe you can buy in-game money with real money, but don't quote me on that.

You can absolutely play Diablo 3 by yourself. The game has apparently been built from the ground-up as a cooperative multiplayer experience...but if you don't feel like dealing with other players, one of the NPC companions you pick up over the course of the story will happily fill in the role of helpful ally for you.

Is the a Diablo version of WoW Insider?
talkaboom Aug 2nd 2011 9:04AM
There is no site under the joystiq banner completely dedicated to diablo, though they have all the news. There is a diablo wiki though. Google it to get the link.

Diablofans.com is a good source of Diablo-related news and information. They even have a skill calculator for Diablo 2.

Honestly, I can't believe I'm saying this, considering Diablo 2 was one of my favorite games of all time and I've been waiting for a sequel for at least 8 years now, but I might actually not buy it.
For the first time in my gaming life, I feel like boycotting something. 6 months in a year I have no reliable internet connection, so no offline single-player is a huge deal breaker for me. I know I'm not alone either. Plenty of people, especially those living in 2nd world countries, dont have constant access to reliable internet. Blizzard is just giving them all the middle finger.
No, you can't play offline because one day you might want to play online and you'll be upset if we won't let you, so we're going to force you to play online all the time.
Eat a bag of dicks, Blizzard.

I really am hoping that we get a release date at Blizzcon and that I will be playing D3 by Christmas. I agree that Diablo 2 is the best game I have ever played, and I only started playing WoW because of its similarities. Like the above poster however, I am disspointed that you have to play online, as I was really looking forward to getting away from online gaming and getting back into a game that I could play anytime, anywhere. I will still be getting it, how could I not!, but it's still disappointing.

I suggest pvp pve servers like wow has, because i remember playing diablo and getting wrecked.. consistently.. then again that was before they swung the ban hammer on people for trainers.. and before all the other advances we've had for those kind of things... we'll see.. highly anticipated though.
