BlizzCon 2011 virtual tickets potentially giving out last year's pet

One of the perks of purchasing the BlizzCon virtual ticket is that players are treated to a BlizzCon exclusive in-game companion pet. In 2010, that pet was Deathy, a Deathwing-inspired version of everyone's favorite murloc. As in every previous year, a new companion pet (or a mount, once) has been given to BlizzCon attendees. Players and purchasers were potentially confused, as the new pet for BlizzCon this year has not yet been announced. When Blizzard does announce this year's BlizzCon pet, we'll be the first to let you know.
Some players receiving Deathy with virtual ticket purchase
We have received a few posts as to whether or not players who purchased the 2011 BlizzCon Virtual Ticket should be receiving the 2010 BlizzCon pet, Deathy.
You all have posed an excellent question to which we are inquiring about now. We will update the thread when we have further information.

In this brief moment we could've all adopted Deathy twins...!!!
Think of the carnage and fun that could be as a result....

I got the new pet today. It's name is murablo or something like that.

Just as an update, Blzz fixed the issue and took our Deathy's away but left the achievements :(

My first thoughts: "Does there *have* to be a new pet? But Deathy is so cute!"
nonentity Aug 3rd 2011 2:15PM
Yes, there has to be a new pet otherweise everyone who got the ticket last year would be screwed. ;)
We already know we'll get this Diablo-Murloc this year, really wish it could have been a mount or costume or whatever though.

He also has a ridiculous amount of gas...

I'm betting on a Murloc Monk.
AudreyR Aug 3rd 2011 2:13PM
Sooo....Murkablo is not it?

They haven't officially announced murkablo, we just found it in the game files and made assumptions. :)
Donhorn Aug 3rd 2011 2:23PM
I think Mat said that because officially Blizz hasn't announced what the in game item will be, however, it is safe to say that most likely it will be Murkablo, he fit's the Murloc themed Blizzcon items pretty well and most likely this year is gonna be a big Diablo year with the release coming up, just like SC2 was a big deal a couple years ago and Cata last year.
AudreyR Aug 3rd 2011 2:27PM
Yeah. I kind of figured that.
But it's so fitting with Diablo 3 around the corner. It was harder to not make the jump.

Lets not forget purchasing the diablo three special edition will almost certainly give you a WoW pet like starcraft 2s did.
Tdog Aug 3rd 2011 4:43PM
Well if you go to wowhead.com it's reporting that the soulstone is the pet this year.

I got the Deathy pet after I purchased the 2011 ticket, as well - I posted a thread about it on the BlizzCon forums.
And, yes, I'm 1000% certain it was a 2011 ticket .. It said 2011, and that I would recieve my in-game pet on October 21st, 2011, in my in-game mail. When I logged in, however, lo and behold I had Deathy in my mailbox.

It could be that there's something going on with the purchase of this year's virtual ticket that's flagging last year's as well.
Phaelan Aug 3rd 2011 2:58PM
yep, same here, I went there after the post this morning on here and ordered, got home and logged in, and there was Deathy...I was like wtf? went to the forums and sure enough there was the blue post.
went and tweeted to Sacco and Adam...thought they would post sooner than this though. :P LOL

What I'm confused about is how people who just bought their 2011 tickets are getting their pets already. I've bought virtual tickets the past two years, and my pets didn't arrive until well after the event was over (mid-November in 2010, when Blizzcon was late October, and early October in 2009, when Blizzcon was in late August).

I purchased the virtual ticket on my wife's account so she could get the Murkablo, and yeah, she logged in last night to find Deathy waiting for her. I didn't see any posts about it on the WoW Bug Report forums and put one up right away, afraid that she wouldn't be flagged for the 2011 pet.
I imagine the reason people are getting Deathy immediately is because it was set for sending back in 2010 which, obviously, has since passed. :P

Sounds eerily familiar to last year's Brewfest, actually…

I'm going to nerd-rage a bit if this is true, I'm not going to lie. The in-game pets are a big part buying the live-stream. I for one would be cranky if it's just the same pet again. At the very least they could give us an older one from before the days of the livestream, if they are going to be lazy about it.
Here's to hoping this is just a place-holder situation. :D
