That's a bit misleading. You really should be aiming for the hole in the middle of the web. If you fall down that one, you'll receive a slowfall type buff. If you go down a meteor hole, you don't receive the buff and could take a chunk of damage.

As a rogue, the damage you take from the fall is minimal. You also hit the ground first, which lets you get to work on the remaining adds sooner. Finally, you might not always be in a position to hit the middle.
You're correct for every other class, but rogues (especially with the Glyph of Safe Fall, which most have) don't need to hit the center circle.

no, rogues and kitties do not want to take the slow path down. the passive abilities that reduce their fall damage will reduce it to zero. there is no point going down the middle as a rogue or kitty, as the web snares you while falling and reduces your dps time.
