The Classifieds: Celebrating world PVP

Ahn'Qiraj: The Fallen Kingdom is a player-run event on Emerald Dream (US) to promote the idea of world PVP. It takes place on Aug 13 at 7 p.m. server time. If you're not familiar with the term, essentially world PVP harkens back to the days when we didn't have battlegrounds, arenas, or other fishbowl player-versus-player contests -- just simple, random open warfare in the middle of the PVE zones. You can find out more about this event in the official forums; this group is definitely hoping for a big turn-out.
In a whole different kind of news, Xander and Airielle of Pendragon (Proudmoore US-A) put together this cover of Part of Your World called Part of Your Raid. Xander wrote the lyrics while Airielle performed it.
Random Acts of Uberness

Hexacore, Mooiellia, and Aoide of Drenden (US-H), and Ophiilia of Blackwater Raiders (US-H) I was clearing Heroic Deadmines the other day with Hexacore (Drenden), Mooiellia (Drenden), Aoide (Drenden) and Ophiilia (Blackwater Raiders), and while we were killing the trash before Ripsnarl a message popped up; "Server Restart: 15:00". We were silent for a moment, and then someone commented "Well, guess we have to finish this in 15 minutes." Ripsnarl went down at t-minus 9 minutes, Cookie died at around 7. We tore through the nightmare and engaged VanCleef with about 4 minutes left (grabbing the achievement in the process) and got to her final phase with only 1 minute left on the clock. That last phase was intense, with the countdown filling chat, but we finally managed to kill Vanessa and complete the run with less than 15 seconds to spare. I really wanted to give a big shout-out to my party members for pulling off such an impressive feat. -- Arkondrksoul of Argent Champion (US-H)

Oh god no, my rathole elitist server has gotten front page of WoW Insider. Emerald Dream (US), if anyone wants to come here, don't. Scenarios in which this server fails miserably.
(At least on Horde, my experiences on my Alliance 85 in 4.1 were horrible)
1. You are hanging out in Durotar, awaiting a duel, or looking for someone to duel. Chances are, you'll run into at least one of our cheap R2 Ruthless absurd tank/health regen trinket using Rogues. Basically, if you're melee, they will stay out of range of your attacks, slowly whittle you down, and pop recup over and over and over again. They end at full, you end at 0%. Also, from a common nerfed class (Warrior's) perspective Klinda deleted his character and erased all his gear, he got the new hand of Ragnaros in the first week, go figure.
2. You lose a BG due to our battlegroup being absolute total garbage farming Mid in every BG in existence like HKs/KBs mean anything. When you get out, already kinda ticked, one of the elitist Top-Guild Horde's friend, an Alliance in an elitist Top-Guild is being allowed to run rampant in Durotar and kill everyone, whoever dies to the R2 Ret Paladin with the R2 Resto Druid healer is "a fail scrub, lulz, l2p, get 2200+ neeb". So you can't even do that in peace.
3. Our PvP guilds are terrible, and full of idiots. Top PvP guilds on Horde, are Exodus (Founders of this raid, and also a bunch of jerks who find it funny to harass people via Facebook due to their ex-guildmate/arena partner, who they did nothing to, giving their whole guild some guy's Facebook, to be spammed by whispers. their motto is get 1600+ before entering the guild. Meaning, if you don't have competent RL friends, you don't get to join. One Eight Seven, well, lets just say they are a bunch of knowitall elitists, who enjoy bashing people for their gem/enchant choices. Etc. Etc. Etc. On Alliance there is Clan Battlehammer, that is about it.
4. We DO have events sometimes, yet, if you roll here, and you don't have a REALLY good footing with these idiotic guilds on this server, well, lets just say you're screwed.
I've been on this server for over a year now, it has gotten progressively worse, just like the game has. GG guys.

While its true that ED has declined in the recent months that is by no means a reason to give up. It's declined because we let it get there, instead of standing up as community to say "We won't except this" we've let it slide.
I'm not in a well known guild on ED but the people I run with are awesome, helpful and just fun to be around. We don't put up with elitism or trollin and because of that our experience is enjoyable.
I am excited for this event and the possibilities it brings to our server. We need to fight for our server if we want it back to what it used to be. I refuse to give up!

I don't know what your problem is, but this is an event to help promote what once made this server great, and to promote community. Eliestism is everywhere not just on ED. Attitudes like this, people who hate instead of trying to improve community, are why the WoW community aspect outside of guilds has diminished.

Excuse me? I've been all around the realms, and made Emerald Dream my home. It's no worse than any other high population server. In fact, we have thriving rp, pvp, and rppvp. The "decline" is more or less the same bunch of stupid people that haunt just about every tradechat in every realm. I'm proud to be on Emerald Dream, as it's the only realm this wandering player has truly been able to call home. There are the usual trolls and jerks, but the good people there make it worth it.

As someone whom is in a rather Major Guild on ED Horde-Side, I agree with Lillend, the server's lapse in PvP is because we let it get like that. But really, Elitism isn't all that bad, TBH I thought the end of WoTLK was the worst I've ever seen Elitism on ED. Remember the 5.8k GS requirements to get into an ICC PuG? But RP is better than ever on our server now, the Molten Front is excellent PvP, sure the server isn't as tight-knit as it was during Ulduar, but its not nearly as bad as Berith makes it out to be. However, if you can count on one thing in ED, its that the Horde and Alliance are at each other's throats xD

Also, something I forgot to add in. More RPers are always welcome! :D We have a relatively small RPing community ATM, but we've made a lot of progress, and welcome fresh blood!

The roleplay actually isn't that small, as we have several large rp guilds out there Hordeside. The Sunsworn are always causing trouble for the Alliance, I've seen plenty of people from Nyx hanging around The Broken Tusk in Org, and the best guild ever (my guild) the Gor'Watha Warband has been getting itself ready to kick some serious butt. I know the leader of The Crew tried to rp a bit during our last big meeting of various guilds to try and combat Kingship of the East, but from what we saw, they don't rp much. I don't know how much goes on Alliance side, though more rpers are always welcomed either way!

Woot, good job, uber group! Especially since Hexacore, Mooiellia, and Aoide are my guildies. Aoide is an alt of the GM of our guild, Warlocks of the Sunspire, Drenden's longest-running casual-play guild. Keep giving us casual players a good name, guys!

Definitely one of those times where the dungeon finder pairs you up with great players.
What started out as a quiet afternoon run, ended up a ridiculously fun race to the finish! Thanks for the fun memory, Arkondrksoul and Ophiilia! Hopefully we'll run into you again! (Aoide here, Siñ's alt)

A few things.
You're going to say I am "hating" instead of helping, aren't you being detrimental to the server yourself? I brought up valid points, it wasn't even trade-chat that was the decline, that is a problem on every server, yet a minor one. Our largest guilds, and community on ED are very elitist, unfortunately you can't walk anywhere in the game map of this server and not run into one of those idiots. Durotar's dueling area is a cesspit for OP-Abusers, trash talkers and 2200+tards who believe rating actually equals skill. No, rating just means you got carried by a healer into good gear and were able to bear many tedious arena matches. I was one of the people who spoke out against these people frequently, nobody backed me up, so yes, it IS hopeless, and there is no point, the game doesn't cater to solo players, or even small groups of RL friends. It caters to the majority, aka guilds controlled by their guild leaders who bitch them out about everything, and they WILL find something to bitch about regarding how you play. If you're not "pro" then you "fail", "pro"? LOL, the ONLY "Pro" that plays WoW that I know of is Swifty, the Warrior, who actually rerolled a Resto Druid, go figure. You can have fun with your rogues and your tank trinkets and trash talking people if you beat them at 100%, its no surprise. Blizzard = a large capitalist company, they don't care about the gameplay, they care about "Hmm, well Guilds are the standard for LARGE groups of consumers, so, lets pander to them! We'll make the worst farming experience ever give more conquest points than Arenas, bwahahaha!" You know what? Emerald Dream WAS a good server for a while, when WoW WAS a good game, there is nothing that will bring back World PvP, unless you take out flying mounts in Azeroth and nerf the city/town guards, and nerf their spawn rates. There is no such thing as world PvP, this event is going to be a temporary clusterfuck of guild promotion and people getting crushed repeatedly by R2 Elitists and their healers that carried them there. I never understood the people who said "Get a resto shaman to heal you in Arenas". I just think "Heh, having a healbot equates to skill nowadays? Jeez, oh well, maybe someday Blizzard will get the hint and remove healing classes from PvP in any form, by making resil in open world make healing spells not work, and Healing specs not work in Arenas, BGs and etc. Its Player Vs Player, not Player+healer vs Player+healer. Healing is torture, how anyone can enjoy healing is beyond me, you can't seriously play the game to NOT kill people... That is absurd. Healbots win, Elitists win, Blizzard/Capitalism wins. Ze end.
