Around Azeroth: Once in a blue moon
Many people have seen this primitive painting on a rock near Thunder Bluff. The horse is pretty standard for this sort of thing, although a little out of place -- since when have there been horses in Mulgore? But what about those hoofprints off to the left? As always, Mad Men has the answer. I was rewatching the first season on Netflix the other night and caught this little vignette between Harry Crane and Don Draper regarding the Lascaux cave paintings.

Harry: The bison get all the attention, but there are also all of these handprints. Tiny by today's standards, with paint blown all around them.
Don: Signature of the artist.
Harry: But I thought it was... like someone reaching through the stone, right to us. "I was here."
The walking cows were here. (Thanks to Dactyl for the screenshot!)

In Werner Herzog's new-ish documentary film, Cave of Forgotten dreams, some of the paintings are handprints and hand stencils. One set of them was made by someone with a crooked finger, so they're able to track that person through the entire cave. Pretty amazing to think about all these images left by distant ancestors tens of thousands of years ago.
