Now that the API is live, we want to make you all aware that HTML datamining (via us.battle.net/wow or any of the other regional wow sites) is not acceptable. Within the next 7 days, we will start to blacklist users that are making excessive requests to our regular community sites.
If you are currently in the process of porting over to the API and have not requested a key yet, please do so. We do not want to interrupt service for community sites that are following that path.
Please email api-support@blizzard.com with specific questions/concerns, or reply to this thread with any general comments.
Thank you for your cooperation!

t11 helms and shoulders should be avaible for justice points so nonraiders have access to them so you can complete your t11 set without raid or make them be a guarrented drop that every one gets at least do that. they should cost jp cus you should be able to 5 man ur way to the previous tier u could in wrath and some what in bc
As of this moment, there aren't any plans to make those items available for Justice Points.t11 helms and shoulders should be avaible for justice points so nonraiders have access to them so you can complete your t11 set without raid or make them be a guarrented drop that every one gets at least do that. they should cost jp cus you should be able to 5 man ur way to the previous tier u could in wrath and some what in bc
That doesn't necessarily mean that those items are still out of reach, though. We re-tuned the tier 11 raid instances in the hopes that players who haven't seen that content might be willing to give them a shot. If you don't have a group of friends or guild mates that are interested in trying out those raids, the Raid Browser is an under-used tool that can be convenient for getting a raid group started, or for filling the gaps in your raid composition.
(For those who are unaware, the Raid Browser is available as a menu button at the bottom of your interface titled 'Raid')
We've spent 8 years adding awesome community comics to our Comics section, but we're far from finished. We're looking for the best new World of Warcraft comics to become front page news on our site, and we'd love to have your help, whether you're a seasoned contributor or a first-time cartoonist. If you'd like to have your comic displayed on our website, submit it here.
There's a whole lot of conjecture going on in this thread. I think it's better for me at this point for me to present the facts as I can, rather than focus on any particular commentary that's already been made.
Hiring Game Masters is a lengthy and expensive process, and one that we are constantly going through. Speaking as a former Game Master myself, it's not an easy job. There's a lot of demands that need to be made, both from the employer and the players that you interact with. Much training is required, and even then, some tasks are limited to more experienced Game Masters.
This is a topic that comes up frequently, and it seems to stem from the general lack of knowledge about how we do the things that we do in Customer Support. Some of that will have to remain a well-protected secret - we provide the best customer support that we can, and we feel that's something extremely valuable that no other company offers at the same level. We know it's important to you guys, and we agree.
However, we're also working on ways to bring to light our policies, procedures, and our day to day lives here so that our players can better understand what's necessary to get these difficult tasks done in the best and most efficient way possible.

Withholding "secrets" to good customer support doesn't sit right with me, for some reason, and I'm really not sure *why*... but it does. I can't really blame Blizzard for wanting to "be the best" but this doesn't seem to sort of thing a gaming company should be competitive over, but rather a standard that all of them share.

If I had the "best customer support that I can, and I feel that's something extremely valuable that no other company offers at the same level." I would brag about it as much as I could!
Nyar Nyar my reps are awesome! Suck a big one every other business with customer service on the entire planet.

If the raid browser is such an under used feature, then how do they expect people to get raids started with it? I've opened a few times and i never see any groups lfm
Mycroft Aug 9th 2011 1:25AM
The raid browser is hard to use. In that, to see raids available, you have to select each individual raid, on each individual player count. Just seeing the t11 raids takes 6 full menu navigations. If they want the tool to be used, make it useful instead of annoying.
Arrohon Aug 9th 2011 12:27AM
If you don't use it because no one uses it then you're adding to the problem. Use it in the background just in case someone decides to use it (maybe they are just what you need but are doing arch so they can't see your trade message. Using it can't hurt you. It's also mainly for finding people to fill gaps, not start from scratch.
Arrohon Aug 9th 2011 12:28AM
Reply fail. Was supposed to be @ Vantheus
Vantheus Aug 9th 2011 12:53AM
no worries on the reply fail, but point taken. I don't have it up all the time only once in a while. i guess for it to be effective on my server i'd need to use it right when i log in >.>

Doesn't it prevent you queueing for anything else, though? Similar to the way you can't queue for dungeons and BGs simultaneously? The inability to put your name out there as potentially interested in pugging a raid without getting your daily Zul'Again runs in is a major disincentive to using it.
Schadow Aug 9th 2011 2:31AM
Yup, it prevents you from queueing for instances or BGs.
The fact is, it's difficult to get 10 people together to go raid something. If you do it as an alt run with your guild, then it's just another raid night and people get burned out on raiding or wonder why you are not using it to clear current content.
If you PuG it, you spend a lot of time putting it together only to have it fall apart on the first wipe.
I would like to see T11 head/shoulders available at least for Valor points if not for justice points. I don't have the time on my alts to run the raids while keeping up my VP and firelands grinding.

"From around the web" is relevant to my interests, as I am a collector of coma prisons myself.

Whats API?
RavenJet Aug 9th 2011 7:05AM
It stands for "Application Programming Interface" - a common term in computer programming. It basically means some layer created that allows programmers to talk to a deeper layer of a system without having to actually get into it directly.
Windows has an API that lets programmers tell it to "put a button here" for example.
Blizzard has been bragging about their upcoming API for ages, basically it allows programmers to pull data out of blizzard's servers in order to present them to users in novel programs and applications. Not private user data or login details of course, but things like player stats, gear - essentially everything that's in the armory really.
So rather than just blizzard having access to this, all sorts of programmers can now write applications to do novel things with armory data (and a select set of other data). Top of my head example, you could write a program to pull data in from the armory and get a list of players on a server that have done a specific achievement.
Blizzard is hoping to see all sorts of novel tools created that will give players new and interesting options for using armory data, and that's why they created the public API - to allow the community's creativity to extend the ways we can use that data.
