Wowcrendor tackles the complicated subject of RP servers in Orc vs. Wild: Moonguard/Goldshire RP Server. Boar Thrills crafts a gnome disguise from local fauna and enters Goldshire to spy on the wily, somewhat quirky roleplayers. He blends in by walking and immediately meets a truly immersed roleplayer.
I found this video especially interesting because it's the first time Wowcrendor has tackled roleplay culture. Certainly, most of the creator's videos involve immersion and escapism, but story-based roleplay hadn't been directly addressed. Roleplayers might not be a huge fan of the portrayal. Still, I can't help but think exactly how true to Goldshire this video actually is.

As a resident of Alliance side on Moonguard, and leader of an RP guild on said server, I find this video hilarious and uplifting. And woefully truthful.
You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. ...and furries.
That day they decided Worgen would have no mount and instead would go down on all fours told me enough to know I should avoid Moonguards GS at all costs
That time I accidentally walked into that little alcove in Stormwind and saw a naked Worgen in the mount position with a naked gnome behind it I will never be able to erase from my mind.
As a resident of Alliance side on Moonguard, and leader of an RP guild on said server, I find this video hilarious and depressing. It's never nice to see your favorite WoW personalities bashing the place you live. It wouldn't be so distressing if there was actually an effort to portray real roleplay as well, but "Wowcrendor tackles the complicated subject of RP servers" and "story-based roleplay hadn't been directly addressed".
Maybe you didn't now this, but our server now crashes regularly due to the massive influx of out of server visitors, not that Goldshire wasn't already full of them before this and other videos started popping up. Frankly, it upsets me, because you get people coming in with the most outrageous names, spamming chat channels with the most racist, sexist, inappropriate things imaginable. They don't even stay in Goldshire anymore. Believe it or not, but the server didn't use to be like this. It's never been such a hostile place for real role players before.
Moon Guard is the friendliest server with the highest quality of role play of any RP server I have -ever- seen in my six years of WoW playing. Why can't someone make a video about that, or make fun of REAL role players, not mislabel us. I wouldn't mind seeing "Lord Domin Maxwell the Fourth, Grand Marshall of the Alliance Royal Guard with his brilliant cape, massive chin, and flowing golden hair" get knocked down a peg or two.
Moon Guard is still the server for role players, and I hope this videos and others like it haven't put you off coming to our server and seeing the SERVER (as in, everywhere EXCEPT Goldshire) for yourself. We'd be glad to have you.
P.S. Darnassus has recently become a role play hub Alliance side, I suggest you roll a night elf and check it out there. There's a number of excellent guilds that if have made it their mission to revitalize night elven lore.
P.P.S. If you are interested on trying out the RP here, I suggest you check out http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2973248505. That thread was put together by a Moon Guard native and offers care packages designed to help people get started on the server.

Not gonna lie, but I made a female Human Priest named Erp on Moonguard. Mostly just to see what Goldshire was like. It was pretty much spot on to what this video portrayed it as. I thought MG's GS was all hype and exaggeration...
People not from MG tend to forget that there's an entire server outside of Goldshire, and it's really sad. Moon Guard is a great place to be, but Goldshire is like the wart on our chin that no one can stop staring at.
I'm Buck Melanoma. Moley Russell's wart. Not her wart. Not her wart! I'm... I'm the wart. She's my tumor. My... my growth. My... uh, my pimple. I'm Uncle Wart. Just old Buck "Wart" Russell. That's what they call me, or Melanoma Head. They'll call me that. "Melanoma Head's coming." I'm s... uncle! Maisy Russell's uncle!
@Goolie Been years since I've watched Uncle Buck, a John Candy classic. Now my guildies are gonna hate me cause I'm gonna watch it and quote the hell out of it next raid.

The Roleplayers Lament does that well enough.

As a RPer, I can honestly say that this is the Reason Moonguard needs to become an Rp-PvP server....and Goldshire a PvP zone >.>

Goldshire on Moonguard RP. The reason why my childhood is ruined.
Lavindar Aug 8th 2011 12:23PM
As a RP, i created a character on Moonguard to see what he goldshire fuzz was about. It was the most short lived character i had.

We have disowned Goldshire.
Kunikenwad! Aug 8th 2011 12:36PM
Sadly, you'd like to think that he's exaggerating. He's not. Moonguard's Goldshire is quite possibly the worst place in the world. Of Warcraft.
On the upside, not all RP servers have a Goldshire as repugnant as Moonguard's. Well not *AS* repugnant.
StClair Aug 8th 2011 12:40PM
I refuse to call what goes on in Goldshire "RP".
