Jaina Proudmoore working book title: Tides of War

Christie posts: "Okay, starting on Tides of War, the Jaina (Proudmoore!) book. Am thinking if I work this right... I won't have to work weekends this time. Woot!"
There is a lot of speculation going on about the next expansion, including the filing of a trademark for Mists of Pandaria, as well as Chris Metzen revealing the earth-shattering Jaina book at Comic Con last month. While Tides of War is admittedly a working title, it signals a strong naval theme that links up well with an island expansion, the island of Pandaria, and a generally water-y world we're looking at. This is all still speculation, of course.

she's gonna become Admiral Jaina Proudmoore :)
Blayze Aug 9th 2011 4:02PM
Probably more likely Lord and/or Grand Admiral.
Cephas Aug 9th 2011 8:34PM
Her current title, "Lady" is generally considered the female equivalent to "Lord", so "Lord" wouldn't even be an upgrade.

OOhhhh a new Golden book? YAY!
exogenesis. Aug 9th 2011 3:38PM
I love Golden, but can't be sure I'd read a book about Jaina; never really liked her, for some reason. But on the other hand, it is Christie Golden.
Ohhh, choices choices ...
Darthregis Aug 9th 2011 3:46PM
Not a huge fan of Jaina either, but I'm definitely going to put my faith in Christie Golden. :)

"Tides of War"?!? That would make a great expansion name!!!
*ducks*
Seriously, tho, I am on-board for seeing the rest of Azeroth.
Poor Christie must have missed out on weekends while she was writing a previous book. I am looking forward to a book about Jaina way more than one about Varian.
Drakkenfyre Aug 9th 2011 4:21PM
Uh, err.
Tides of Darkness.
Shinae Aug 9th 2011 4:22PM
@tyler
Actually, I agree.
Orkchop Aug 9th 2011 4:49PM
How about Tides of Darkness as an expansion name? Oh wait,...
Orkchop Aug 9th 2011 4:54PM
WAIT Warcraft 2 dealt heavily with Daelin Proudmoore. If Jaina was central to the next expansion, the Tides of War / Tides of Darkness nod would actually be really cool!
Deathknighty Aug 9th 2011 5:01PM
Tyler, that's at least the third time I've seen you link that exact comment, I'm beginning to wonder if you're a person or a bot!

I'm still inclined to believe that "MoP" is more likely a patch name in the next xpac than a full-on expansion name.
Cephas Aug 9th 2011 9:05PM
I still think that doesn't make any sense at all. Nearly every major content patch has had a name and none of them have been trademarked. I'm not saying "Mists of Pandaria" has to be the next expansion, but I am very confidant that it's not just a patch.

Someone noted that if you look at the trademark application, it lists Mists of Pandaria for use with games, discs, manuals, guides, mouspads and such. Sounds pretty expansiony to me, or at the very least, something else fairly big.
Suzaku Aug 10th 2011 3:48AM
They've never trademarked patches, books, or trading card game sets, all of which have titles.
Mists of Pandaria is a game with online components and physical media. There is absolutely no doubting at least that much.
It is likely the next expansion (IE WoWx4). If it is not the next expansion, it's an entirely new game or add-on for WoW.
Please note that Wrath of the Lich King and Cataclysm were both trademarked at about the same times, back in 2007 and 2009, a few months before being announced at Blizzcon.
This has actually given me a lot of flashbacks to the Cataclysm filing. Everyone expressed the exact same kinds of doubts. "Cataclysm? They wouldn't name an expansion one word!" "Oh, so it must be something like Shadows of Cataclysm?" "It's probably their new MMO!"
The number of people who realized it meant World of Warcraft: Cataclysm was going to be announced in a few months was sadly very small.

One more time: Patches are contained within the copyrights and intellectual properties of the individual game/expansion. They are like chapters in a book, or acts in a play. This is like a whole new book or play.
I think people are grasping at straws because of some kind of... I don't know, backlash against pandaren or something. Why anyone would be against bipedal asskicking beer-brewing pandas is beyond me.

Still prefer the old model.
STHedgeHog Aug 9th 2011 4:24PM
Glad im not the only one :)
Straz Aug 9th 2011 4:59PM
Same here. Her new model is kinda bleh.
