Someone on my RP server, who has maybe thousands of pages of story and mini-world building and multiple players/characters involved, once petitioned to have their story recognized as part of the lore by Blizzard.
The overwhelming response was "So?" from other players, and utterly ignored by Blizzard.
It's one group on one server. The idea is cool, the play is fun, but it seems elitist and arrogant to assume Blizzard is going to take one player's or group's idea over thousands of similar ideas.
We already have more than 2 factions in the setting. It's just that only 2 of them are available to players. Adding a new one through story is something Blizzard does regularly. And even if they did add in a whole new player faction (the logistics could be a little crazy and time consuming) it's probably going to be a conglomeration of ideas, open and free to allow multiple concepts, and possibly created from existing in-world factions (like how the Argent Crusade formed, though still NPC only).
Have fun playing the game your way. I'm fine with the 2 faction model and already having to choose which friends to play with on which day--maybe because I don't restrict myself to guild-only interactions.
