It's been a long time since we've heard from Kidsake. His music video for God's Gonna Cut You Down received huge acclaim among machinima fans. The use of Johnny Cash as musical background, coupled with unique and interesting visuals, thrilled many of us.
Kidsake's back with a new video called Heroes. It's a shout-out to his friends and fellow WoW players, featuring a large series of character vignettes set to Peter Gabriel's cover of Heroes. This surprisingly moody, brooding piece actually reminds me of Kidsake's other videos. He definitely brings a thoughtful, enigmatic feel to his videos. Interested in the wide world of machinima? We have new movies every weekday here on WoW Moviewatch! Have suggestions for machinima we ought to feature? Toss us an email at moviewatch@wowinsider.com.
Shoulda stuck with the Wallflowers version of the song from that shitty Godzilla movie from a few years back. The animation was cool but there wasn't much going on to be honest. Not sure how I really feel about it. Certainly not ecstatic. Sorry, this one didn't float my boat. As an aside, wasn't K. Aarons in the video our very own Kelly by chance?
One of my favorite covers by Peter. He's amazing and he transformed a poppy song about triumph into something dark and heavy, gave it a true sense of that desperate moment before a battle that you must win to survive. I love the video.
Exactly. He and both share an affliction of depression, and when I first heard this song, I immediately changed the machinima (it was originally going to use the Smashing Pumpkins 'The Beginning is the End is the Beginning')
All I wanted is to show that WE can all be heroes, just for a day, in Azeroth and beyond.
This one struck me down hard.....absolutely beautiful...the music's a perfect match for the video and caused much feeling inside of me.....thank you :)
The music absolutely made this video. The visuals were beautiful, and definitely better than the usual "shout out" vids. Kidsake packed a lot of story into those little slo-mo vignettes, and the quiet, slowly building music fit perfectly.
I really dug it. Now to go watch God's Gonna Cut You Down again.
WOW! This is another masterpeice. I'd put your Johnny Cash video as one of my top five favorite wow-videos! I love your style and hope you churn out many more. :-D
Haunting and beautiful, my friend. Makes me wish I had a clue when it came to putting videos together. This version fits the subject matter much more completely than either David Bowie's or The Wallflowers (though both are still decent renditions.)
When it started up, I realized I heard this song before, but it was the TV on the Radio cover from the War Child indie CD. Guess I gotta explore the other covers and the Bowie original.
Great animation and really interesting theme - at first I was bothered by all the names, but they made sense very quickly and cast a very interesting light on the video. It kind of reminds you of all the Blizzard shout-outs to community members, and how special it can be to be recognized by a huge for-profit corporation for just being creative, or helpful, or funny.
Great video Kid :). I recognized the WoW eh reference right away and loved it. Then had to watch 'Gods gonna cut you down' again. Keep up the excellent work

Yes. I am a huge fan of WoW, Eh and wanted her in this shout out, so I asked her and she very graciously said yes.
And the Wallflowers will never exist in this dojo.

Should have used the Wallflowers version. Or even the original by Bowie. Sorry, Peter Gabriel's version sucks.

I tend to like VOICEsVOICEs' cover of Heroes, as for as Wallflowers, see above =p
David Bowie is my Superman
