I was worried that when Blizzard said they were happy with how DKs were working, that they meant "Everyone else is getting knocked down to that level."Apparently I was right to be worried. That said, it's an interesting bit of discussion, though I think the main problem is (and has been) Vengeance as a whole. THAT is the reason tanks don't like threat stats.... because Vengeance makes them unnecessary.Of course, the devs LOVE the idea of Vengeance, so reworking it from the ground up probably isn't in the cards.

Well, see, here's how it works: If we stat threat we go splat or our healers go oom. If we don't, dps has to throttle unless the tank overgears THEM. So, we're getting a situation where once threat is established we don't have to worry about that nearly as much as say, positional placement and new mobs entering the field. I'm fine with this.Care to explain what you mean my 'down to their level'? My main is a DK tank and I've made a name for myself being a solid and dependable tank. We are no less capable if played with skill (like any other class; dps, heals, or tank) then a sword and board or fur ball tank.

In Heroic raid content, DKs are at a mathematical disadvantage in survivability, especially for the effort that they have to expend to game their runes to perform at optimal levels. There are many find DK tanks, but the math is solid. DKs work harder for a lesser result. They take spikier damage, and have no upside to counterbalance it.We (on the official tanking forums) have been pointing it out to Blizzard for months, and they stuck by "We're happy with where DKs are." So now they're proving it by their plans on adopting a more DK-like active mitigation for the other classes as well.Rather than fixing one, they're talking about hurting everyone else. The problem all really goes back to Vengeance. THAT is why tanks don't gem/gear/enchant threat stats. Because after a few hits from a boss, you do enough damage that it makes the misses irrelevant. The numbers were given to Blizzard by the tanking community showing that by Tier 12, Vengeance wouldn't keep up with stat inflation, and threat could become spotty. This is the "fix" they decided to pursue. Making threat a non-issue, and reworking the mitigation of all tanks, rather than fixing the flawed mechanic, Vengeance.
