Breakfast Topic: What spell, skill, or talent do you miss?

Sometimes, the skills were worthless, and it's a good thing they went away (or at least, not a bad thing). Sometimes, though, we really did lose something special. For me, the talent that always makes me a little verklempt is Unholy Blight. Back in the early days of Wrath, Unholy Blight was an engine of destruction. For around half your runic power bar, it would summon a swarm of insects that would surround you, inflicting AOE damage to all enemies in melee range of you and infecting them with a disease that would make your strikes hit harder.
This, of course, was incredibly powerful. It made keeping threat as an unholy tank a breeze, and it made sure unholy DPS death knights topped the damage charts whenever there was an AOE fight. But what really made it awesome for me was the way it made me feel. I was a death knight, a walking tower of death, decay, and fear. My aura of malevolent power was so amazing that my enemies felt it gnawing at their very souls. That's why, whenever I look at the current talent and its silly little Death Coil damage boost, a single tear rolls down my cold, undead cheek.
What about you? Whether they've been removed or just nerfed beyond recognition, what old-school spells, talents, or skills do you miss?

How was it broken, exactly? If you turned it on, your pet was aggressive.
The only people it caused problems for were the absent-minded ones who kept forgetting to turn it off after they used it for whatever reason.
The new stances are buggy as hell.

My hunter was never my main but always a favorite alt. I never had a problem with stances until they "fixed them". The only time I really used aggressive was in BGs defending a flag/tower or in world PvP waiting for someone to rez. In both cases it worked perfectly. Attack the enemy as soon as they came into my area.

Definitely pet stances, and phase shift. Remeber using him as a tower in BGs (Pet aggressive, stay, phase shift)

Shield Bash! I'm a Prot Warrior, dammit--I should have more than one ability that lets me smack things with my shield.

Pummel just doesn't feel right when I have this BIG FREAKING SHIELD IN MY HAND.

This about a Blizzillion times. Why do I have a shield if I can't smack u in the face with it to make you shut the hell up.

Permanent tree form. There was nothing like getting home after a hard 12-hour day at work, logging in for the raid/BG/chain-heroics and watching my druid /dance while the group formed up. It made me smile.

Swirly ball?

Eyes of the Beast. I know, it was completely useless, but I loved taking command of my pet and chasing everyone's companions around and dancing with the catform druids.

FROST TANKING!
I always hated blood and really hoped they would make frost the tank tree.

The Will of the Forsaken nerf.

I miss unholy blight with the swarm of bugs around me.
I miss volley on my hunter. It was the best thing ever. That green area that let you know exactly where your attack was going was the best. I actually miss using mana instead of this whole focus system.
I miss perma-tree form on my druid. I don't care if there is a buff for tree form or not. I liked walking around looking like a tree. Healing just doesn't feel the same with out it.

Blood Aura for the original DKs on release. There was nothing quite as obscene as stacking blood aura and tearing through everything.

Turning into a ghoul as a death knight when you died. I know there were bugs with it in Arenas and BGs but I don't understand why they removed it completely instead of just disabling it in pvp like they did with Army of the dead.
Turning into that ghoul was the coolest thing about dks when I first made mine.
Honestly if you like your dk but didn't get to play it at the very beginning of wrath you missed out. Today's dk and the original dk are almost 2 different classes.

That last line is the honest truth. Don't get me wrong, I love the whole blur-of-frosty-speed thing DW Frost has going now but part of me still cries over my DK's old blood DPS spec. It was the most fun thing EVER.

I miss Eyes of the beast, which was so much fun for scouting and helped a lot in machinima making. What I do NOT miss is volley. Spell was mana-intensive, thoughtless, and didn't really feel like a volley should. Multi-shot is a much better ability, and honestly, the visceral feeling of firing off one, then another, than another hail of arrows/bullets is much better than firing five shots into a spot and watching 'magic arrows' lazily fall from the sky, hitting any sheep that wandered in and completely avoiding any active Mob that wandered out, with no chance for adjustment. That, combined with the fact that the damn spell was STUPIDLY overpowered for the earliest part of Wrath meant that late into the expansion, some hunters were still casting it on single-target pulls.

I miss being able to skin critters for scraps, in the low levels... it was a nice little game, going around killing critters, for absolutely no gain xD
AudreyR Aug 17th 2011 12:33PM
Oh! Me too! Need an extra wool cloth? Go skin a sheep!

Corpse Explosion for death knights.
It was fun, damn it!
