As far as what it singles for future set design, I think another commenter hit the nail on the head: it frees up the designers in a big way. They've said that they try to make sure that new sets don't clash too badly with the old ones. If appearance isn't an issue any more, they'll be free to really branch out, and make sets very different, knowing that no one will be forced to use the look if they don't like it.At last, my warlock might finally get a set with some damned pants for a change. I'm sick of running around in a dress.

- "At last, my warlock might finally get a set with some damned pants for a change. I'm sick of running around in a dress."I doubt it. Ask the collective Mage community what they think about their T8 Pantsuit.

Ah, but that's my point: it's true that Blizzard took a lot of flak for that because the majority of mages feel like a robe is the right look, but there were some people who loved it, and who'd been clamoring it. However, since everyone has to get the tier set to raid, in the past, they've had to make sure that the designs had the broadest appeal; that leads to a certain amount of blandness. But if Blizzard could simply say: "Yes, the new set has pants, but if you don't like them, just transmogrify a robe over them," then they can get away with making a set that caters more to a smaller group that just doesn't like what the majority likes. That's kind of what I was getting at: Blizzard could take more chances and make wilder decisions about the gear set designs if they knew that players who hated it didn't have to use the art.

@RevynnHe said warlock, not mage. I know it's easy to confuse the two. :-)

@Adam:Bite your tongue, man! Easy to confuse warlocks and mages?!?!It's very simple: warlocks are kind of people who enjoy tapping into unfathomable dark powers to unleash the wrath of hell against all who would oppose us. Mages are the kind of people who like baking cakes for the group and who get upset when their tier set doesn't include a dress.

Warlock, Mage, in the end, they're all just stains on the ground.Anyway, on topic: Yes. Giving the art department the ability to do pretty much whatever they want couldn't possibly end up backfiring magnificently :D

"I doubt it. Ask the collective Mage community what they think about their T8 Pantsuit."I loved it. I ran around Dalaran for nearly 10 minutes when I earned the chest piece, squealing with glee. It was the first time I'd constantly seen my legs in years.
