Around Azeroth: It's a secret to everybody
A number of players have found their way into this strange room underneath Orgrimmar with a lit candle and the initials WKM on the wall. But no one has been able to come to a consensus on what it means. A popular theory is that it's a memorial to developer Michel Koiter, like the Shrine of the Fallen Warrior. But why put a memorial in a spot only accessible by glitching through floors? And why the W with the K and M? Personally, I'm voting for Worgen Killin' Machine. (Thanks to Growlbearpig of Permafrost on Frostwolf [US-H] for the screenshot!)

Why put it there? For exactly this reason - so if there ever is a glitch of some kind, then there's something more interesting to see/explore besides glitchy clipped textures. Personally I love little hidden things like this that "should" never be seen.
All the more if it's a memorial; it doesn't need to be in any place that players will ever see for devs to appreciate it.

If you rotate this "WKM" 180deg it still will be readable as "WKM"... Weird.

But the K would be upside down.

rotate twice - horizontaly then vertically

To get to this you might fall underneath Orgrimmar, but then you actually fly upwards inside one of the natural stone pillars, so at the risk of being called a pedant; it's not actually underneath Orgrimmar.
Just sayin'

It stands for Wanna Kill Myself (for playing Horde)

It's where they keep Orgrimmar's DJ locked up to run the Horde's WKM radio station.

Stands for "Warlocks Kill Mages".

It's Aramaic!
It reads, "Here may be found the last words of Joseph of Arimathea: 'He who is valiant and pure of spirit may find the Holy Grail in the Castle of.....Aaauuugggh.'"

He must have died while carving it.

I used to go to this place quite a bit but they have changed the waterfall in Org from how you get to it (which was near the portals) so I thought it was in-accessible now 0.o
Its actually inside the weird shape rock which has a bigger rock sitting on top of it, right in front of you if standing on the Undercity/STV zep tower =p Tis pretty cool inside tbh ^^

WKM is the intials for one of the game developers that died before the game was released.

Source? Or speculation?
scartian.wow Aug 18th 2011 10:56PM
Do a google search.
Agony Aug 19th 2011 6:55PM
Did a google search. Found a whole bunch of stuff that linked it to Michel Koiter, despite the fact that "WKM" is nowhere near even REMOTELY close to "MK". So, like I said, source or speculation?

Blizzard designers also left a tribute to fallen comrade. In the Barrens, atop a hill just southwest of Crossroads sits a small shrine. Here, youll find a memorial dedicated to an Orc with the initials M-K. In the real world, M K was Michel Koiter, a Blizzard illustrator who passed away during production of World of Warcraft.
To reach the memorial, follow a ridge to the southeast and half-way up the hill youll find the base of a mound. Go up the short trail to reach the shrine. As a little bonus, if you visit the memorial in spirit form youll find a spirit healer named Koiter.
