Yesterday, we got huge news out of Irvine (via Germany): Last week's
teaser screenshot showing three ethereals is actually a glimpse at
new features coming in patch 4.3. And of all these new features, the one that seems to have the most players talking is transmogrification -- that is, being able to alter the appearance of the armor you currently have equipped.
Being a
WoW fanatic, I can't help but dream of the possibilities. How would you use the transmogrification system? Is there a specific gear set that you want to transmogrify into? For me, it's all about those priest tier 6 shoulders -- the height of shadow priest fashion.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

I hear what you are saying Rev but I don't think they would do that mid expac. The update to char models will happen as a major point to an expac if it happens at all. They have said in the past it's easier to made new models than to edit the existing ones. (they say that a lot). I think this is cool for 2 reasons (well more but I'm trying to avoid wall of text).
1. For engineers who make their goggles but only get to wear them for a patch or so.
2. For people who HATE the shoulders. I think shoulders have been bad as long as I have been playing. Just too big! I'm sorry if I wanna see my toons head/neck (especially on Draenei and Dwarves)
So many other reasons. I know you will use this and probably like it because you have proven to be pretty sensible with your comments ;)

Rev,
I know you didn't say it explicitly but it was implied as hell in your post, otherwise why would people upvote the responses like that? It sounds like you got hurt by the responses and then try to defend what's left of your dignity by saying "I didn't actually say it," which is a common method of escape among politicians today.
Not to mention, if you didn't mean to imply that transmogrifier feature caused the artwork to be delayed, your post really has no content other than you just rambling about, which is also why it deserves to be downvoted.

I don't think she said or implied that. The poster UNDER her did, and then you can read into a collective swell of people agreeing with the sentiment, but her posting was more of a classic. This is nice, I'd like something else nice too. From my read on things.

My Druid will probably be in Nordrassil, Malorne, and the Nightsong recolor, depending on spec.
My Paladin will probably be in Justicar + Aldori Legacy Defender when he tanks. TBC Cinematic Draenei are go.
My Hunter has the full Desolation set. Mage has the Arcanist recolor. Priest has Benediction. I'm a fan of the Burning Crusade dungeon sets. They're not overwrought or overplayed.

If I could run around pugs dressed in my pilgrims bounty or spring garden gear, I might. Well, I guess I can do it any way before they kick me out for good reason, but I mean without the hit to my deeps.
Other than that, I don't really have much reason to do so. I only have 1 full set of tier gear, and I never cared much for how that looked enough to want to pay gold to run around in it again.

Actually what I have been doing is checking out how every piece of armor and weapon looks like on my toon when I pick it up. Forget tier stuff, there are a whole slew of green items that probable look cooler. I picked up this polearm I would certainly never use on my hunter. Until I CTRL+Shift clicked it and saw how bad ass it looked. It opens up a whole new dimension to the game if you ask me. Sure a cosmetic/RP dimension but hey that's part of the game now isn't it?

I think it's great Blizzard finally added the feature that a lot of players have been asking for.
But I hope that Blizzard also thinks about all the others and gives us an extra option to disable seeing transmogrificated (?) gear.
I want to experience the art that Blizzard made for the current content. Not see everyone run around in MC/BWL set again. It's what I pay Blizzard money for and gives me a sense of progression throughout all those years I've been playing.
(and I never PvP so I'm not saying it for that reason. (actually I PvP once a week to get a hold of BH))

Not everyone will be using this feature. And not everyone that does will be using the same sets.
Sure, I may use the earthfury helm when I put together my Catwoman outfit. But I prefer the BC sets.

Let me guess, a lot of Scouting Leather greens?
AudreyR Aug 18th 2011 8:17AM
I'm known as the guild lush. In game, that is. So every mace I equip will be disguised as the Tankard from brewfest.
Noyou Aug 18th 2011 11:13AM
Was thinking to have that on my Shaman. But then again I want a couple of those cinder block looking maces :P

One of the reasons why our rogue is farming the wieldable fish.
. . . I guess that's really not the reason.
AudreyR Aug 18th 2011 1:42PM
You don't need a reason to wield fish.
Eirik Aug 18th 2011 2:19PM
Haunted Herring and Shoni's Disarming Tool.
Yes, I do plan on bolting that fish down. Why do you ask?

Kept my DK starting armor for an unknown reason at the time
Now ill be resporting the hood and "kilt"
cant wait.
Shadowwind Aug 18th 2011 8:42AM
I kept it for a very specific reason. It looked awesome and there wasn't any way to get it back if I tossed it. :-D ...this philosophy might possibly explain why NONE of my toons have any bag/bank space...
Sonalita Aug 18th 2011 8:18AM
Warlock tier 6. That is All that needs to be said for locks :)
Erikamel Aug 18th 2011 8:18AM
I will make every 2H sword I get on my warrior look like the Lionheart Executioner.
Every. Single. One.

Just wanted to mention that Daxxarri might be hinting at old unavailable gear being brought back through the new Darkmoon Faire content they're adding:

So I think it's great that Blizzard is continuing to ad new features to the game. I can see this transmorthingamabober being really useful for the RP realms. I don't know about others, but when I raid, BG, quest, or even run a 5 man I have my zoom just about as far out as you can go. I'm never really able to see any detail on a character...let alone tell the difference on what they're wearing. The only exception to this is when I'm in a building, and due to ceiling restrictions, I'm forced to see everything up really close.
Don't get me wrong...I'm not knocking this at all. I'm just surprised how much attention this new feature is getting.
