Yesterday, we got huge news out of Irvine (via Germany): Last week's
teaser screenshot showing three ethereals is actually a glimpse at
new features coming in patch 4.3. And of all these new features, the one that seems to have the most players talking is transmogrification -- that is, being able to alter the appearance of the armor you currently have equipped.
Being a
WoW fanatic, I can't help but dream of the possibilities. How would you use the transmogrification system? Is there a specific gear set that you want to transmogrify into? For me, it's all about those priest tier 6 shoulders -- the height of shadow priest fashion.
Brace yourselves for what could be some of most exciting updates to the game recently with patch 4.3. Look at what's ahead: new item storage options, cross-realm raiding, cosmetic armor skinning and your chance to battle the mighty Deathwing -- from astride his back!

Oh, my! Transmogrify "dresses" to "tunics". ...and I pretty much don't care which tunic. My worgen mage finally won't be embarassed to be "Running Wild" with her dress hiked up about her waist.

Somebody mentioned starter DK armor here. It's funny because I have two DK's (on two servers) and I've never been able to advance either of them past level 60 because I liked the starter armor so much.
Now maybe I'll finally get around to it.

Good point. I always liked the menacing green hood of the DK starter zone. I eventually dumped it but for quite awhile I kept it for RP.
Wish I had that back now.

Tier .5 http://www.wowhead.com/item=28581 since it took me about 3 years to finish the set (breastplate wouldn't drop) and Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle http://www.wowhead.com/item=28581 because it's the best-looking gun in the game.
I'm considering bringing back the Ice Barbed Spear http://www.wowhead.com/item=19106 just because Vanilla AV was so epic, too.

Yay! Signing up for 4.3 for sure! Warlock t6 gear, woohoo!

I'd love to use it NOW to reskin the super-ugly Firelands crossbows. Beyond that, I'll never have to worry about using an ugly, noisy, annoying gun again! I knew I was keeping all those raid bows for some reason!

Love the picture! :D
I don't know if Blizz would allow me to use it this way, but I've always liked the Haliscan Jacket and Pants and think it would be cool to transmogrify into that. Not sure about what other armor would look good with that.
I guess I like the idea of the quiet unassuming person who is secretly a powerful mage.
I find myself wondering if Blizz will disallow that to prevent some sort of "making yourself look weaker than you are" thing.
(I also find myself wondering if some people will make use of the sleazy outfits while running around in t11 (or whatever we're up to nowadays)

T6 on my paladin for sure --though for my Megalomaniacal Sexy Warlock Babe Out To Conquer the World, I'm running thru a lot of the non-tier cloth armor to see what's the sexiest for her. Black Mageweave is running awful close to the top; I'm so sick of the purple carpetbag she's wearing now.
And my dwarf mage? I'm looking into changing those robes to a shirt & pants, even a lowbie chest tunic and pants; she's just that kind of plain dwarf. Robes just don't look right at all on a dwarf female. They really don't.

One thing for sure: I will most likely never wear the current tier looks ever again.
In fact, I'll most likely go look for interesting non-tier gear to acquire.
It's also a chance to make crafters very happy if Blizzard adds nice looking crafted gear :)

I've looked back through all the mage tier and dungeon sets, and I can't really get on board with a single look, so I'll probably trawl the auction house and old dungeons and raids for random pieces to put together for my own look. Can't decide if that look will be amazing or horrendous, though.

I'm totally rocking my Bloodsail Admiral outfit.

The second I read about it I was rushing out to find a group for TK and SSC to finish out my hunter's t5. :) Now all I have to do is farm Vashj for the matching boots. Oh boy.
I'm just sad I'm currently using a gun and polearm, because I would pay good money to be "using" Rhok'delar and Lok'delar.

I think this is great. Its going to spark ALOT of people revisiting the old content. I, for one, didnt start playing until Wrath, so I'm excited to see if people will be doing old raids/ dungons for gear farming. It will be great to be able to see all that old content that I havent yet experienced even though I am raiding Cata content now.
Xantenise Aug 18th 2011 10:05PM
I'm going to farm the red mage not-set from BC. It looks awesome and would fit my mage well.
Xantenise Aug 18th 2011 10:07PM
And my priest is wearing his absolution T6, and/or the white Cata set you use for heroics, because that skin and colour combo is amazing.
Jiffah Aug 19th 2011 4:09AM
you can get the same look as the DK starting zone by raiding Naxx. No need to reroll.
sziszi Nov 9th 2011 4:13AM
as feral druid/shadow priest how will I use the transmogrification feature? hm... I have to think a while on this...
/facepalm
