The Queue: Patch 4.3 Q&A -- The transmog edition

Lots and lots of news yesterday. The big posts were:
- Transmogrification and the dismissal of the silhouette theory
- Official transmogrification preview
- More details emerge on void storage -- 80 slots of space
- Raid Finder coming in patch 4.3
- Deathwing fight will feature a ride on his back
- Patch 4.3: Deathwing, cosmetic armor skins, and armor storage
And speaking of that word, it's now known as transmog or tmog. Alternatively, it could be called talking congas.
Will you be able to transmog weapons?
Yes, you will be able to. However, you won't be able to change anything to look like a legendary weapon. They're off limits.
How many bank slots will come with void storage?
It was originally reported by Kotaku (and echoed by us and others) that the void storage space would be between 100 and 150 slots. However, Blizzard has since issued a correction stating that it'll be 80 slots.
Eighty slots is enough to store six to seven sets of gear, plus weapons, so it's more than enough for now.
Do I need to have the old armor piece in my inventory to make my current gear look like it?
Yes, you'll need the old gear in your inventory to transmogrify your new gear into it. Just to be really clear: If you have a T11 piece and want it to look like a T6 piece, you must have the T6 piece and the T11 piece in your inventory.
Can you store tabards in the new storage system?
It looks like you'll be able to. But we'll have to wait and see what the item restrictions are, if any, in the void storage system.
Will transmogrification armor work in arenas?
I'm sure that the armor will function stats-wise. I'd be very surprised if the armor shows up as changed, however. There's still the silhouette issue in PVP, and we'll have to wait and see how far Blizzard abandons it before we'll know for sure about arenas.
How much gold is this all going to cost?
There's no information as to what void storage will cost you, but we know transmog will be in line with what reforging costs. There was a screenshot Blizzard provided yesterday of transmog that showed it costing 100g, but that could be for a bunch of pieces or just one piece -- there's some debate. Either way, it probably won't be too much.
Will the void storage be cross-realm/account-bound?
We don't know, but I doubt it. Blizzard said it'll be releasing something this week on void storage. It was noted that Blizzard will be releasing the info today, but that might change.
Is this the last patch before the next expansion?
Yes. Assuming nothing happens out of the ordinary, patch 4.3 will be the final major content patch before the next misty expansion.
Is there going to be a patch 4.3 PTR? When it is?
We saw this question come up a lot yesterday, which kind of surprised me, given there's high visibility of all the previous PTRs (it also was answered by a blue a couple times). But to answer it, yes, there will be a patch 4.3 PTR, and we don't know when it'll arrive. We're hearing Soon™, but that's really never a good indicator.

Relating to today's queue:
I am of the opinion that Tranmogrifying, and its shortened form of 'morging just looks silly.
Can we push for people to use Calvin-ing to replace it? Or Hobbs-ing? I'm not picky.
Ellesmere Aug 18th 2011 11:06AM
Tmog and Transmog also look somewhat silly.
I may be ok with talking congas tho...
Knob Aug 18th 2011 11:11AM
I wouldn't be surprised if people just started using the word "transformed" instead of "transmogrified".
Thundrcrackr Aug 18th 2011 11:17AM
I'm going to Tranny all my gear.
Grovinofdarkhour Aug 18th 2011 11:17AM
I vote we go with the muscle car reference, "Trans Am".
As in, "I'm gonna totally Trans Am everything I own."
Grovinofdarkhour Aug 18th 2011 11:18AM
I mean, the idea is to make your stuff look cooler, right? Like pimping out a badass ride.
It just makes sense on so many levels.
Plainswander Aug 18th 2011 12:05PM
"Mogging" and "mog'ed seems to be catching on quite swiftly.
Which pleases me a lot, as saying that you've "scruffy old catted" your armor is just hilarious. To say nothing of "cute and cuddly Final Fantasy character'd it" either.
Yes, I'm somewhat of a word nerd.

Maybe it's just me, but when ever I see the word Transmog used all I can think of is this guy in fishnets

Thanks for trying to give credit where it is due.
Calvinize is my term for it and I refuse to use anything that does not credit that lil fictional kid.
The daily blink comic on this was fr too awesome.
Wilk Aug 18th 2011 11:36AM
Boinking.
MattKrotzer Aug 18th 2011 11:38AM
Maybe "Spiff" it?
caliswansong Aug 18th 2011 11:40AM
You solved it without knowing it, "I'm going to Xzibit my gear before raid RQ"
Draev Aug 18th 2011 11:47AM
For fun I think I will copy a pally tank in my guild and make my prot warrior a Hobo Tank set. It will be the ugliest stuff around but it will be hilarious.
followthategg Aug 18th 2011 11:58AM
'Mogging, Kupo.
Butts Aug 18th 2011 11:51AM
morging? wouldn't it be "mogging"?
slim1256 Aug 18th 2011 12:00PM
@ Draev -
Man, that was totally my first thought too. Everyone else was, like, "I'm gonna pimp my ride!" And I'm here thinking, damn, now I gotta go farm some level 15 greens. I'm gonna have the most busted-ass set of gear imaginable.
Wolfbeckett Aug 18th 2011 12:10PM
I'm gonna use Mogging. "Guys, one second, I'm gonna go Mog my weapon."
The Dewd Aug 18th 2011 12:33PM
@Draev, @slim1256:
I was originally thinking that I'd pull out my old T4 gear for my Druid (best set, IMO, even if it's just 5 pieces). And then I started working on a toon that is leveling through Outland and I thought, wait, I can do ANYTHING I want with this. I'm actually considering farming up a bunch of mis-matched Outland greens and blues and going for a full-out colorblind clown look. Since I'm feral and never see my own gear, it won't matter anyways. Now, on the other hand, I predict my Paladin is going to be spending a lot of time in BWL over the next few weeks (as are many others).

My first thought was that I could finally wear my Twill set from Strat.
Sadly, from what they said it will need to be greens or above. :(
Kole Aug 18th 2011 1:54PM
@Thundr
We prefer you Trans your gear...we aren't part of the inner workings of a car. :P
