That isn't true. Mogging will work with PvP gear. You can even swap the look of PvP gear to PvE and vice versa.
Skirmishes are a weird phenomenon. When designing Cataclysm, we looked at the data and saw an extremely fractional percentage of the entire playerbase actively using Skirmishes. So with all of the other changes happening, along with BG War Games, we decided not to polish up Skirmishes and keep them in.
The last time we talked to the developers about it, they mentioned the possibility of these going back in to compliment War Games. But given they saw very little evidence to suggest coding for Skirmishes paid off for players, it seems a low priority.

Any chances of bringing back old AV? Seems like most PVPers support this idea.

I even ranted to Tom Chilton and Greg Street about this recently. For all the reasons it was wrong, I still loved losing all track of time while involved in an endless -- quite literally -- battle for AV. I loved doing constant suicide runs from SF graveyard on my gnome 'lock just to try and interrupt the Horde summons.
We haven't stopped talking about it. Part of the problem is Battlegrounds are incredibly scripted, to the point they're actually worked on quite a bit by our encounter design team. We need to keep working on new ways of developing Battlegrounds to improve their design.
But, to your point, it's doubtful AV 1.0 will be resurrected, and there's only so much tweaking we can do to try and improve the current one -- we'd be working on very old framework with AV. At this point, it'd probably be easier and produce better results if we started from scratch.

about that aff locks and shamans are the main classes doing well in high end and even low end pvp these classes have far to much synergy and because of this any class combined with them does well, do you have guys have any intention to fix this?

Based on my recent conversation with GC, he did mention in particular that a Resto shaman tweak needs to be made. In particular, he's prepared to get his nasty claws on Windshear.
He's gone for the day and I don't want to try and paraphrase our conversation, at the risk of sounding incredibly naive. ;p Besides, I don't want this thread to be dictated by class balance.

Zarhym - really appreciate you lending ear to us PvP enthusiasts. I have two questions:
1) Given that you are now implementing raid finder tool would you please please implementing similar tool for rated battlegrounds? Some of us have weird play timings and this make it extremely difficult to find rated teams :(

We can bring this up with the developers. It'd probably have to fundamentally function a bit differently from the Dungeon Finder and proposed Raid Finder though, otherwise a cross-realm random RBG Finder wouldn't differ that much from randomly queuing for a normal Battleground, aside from the fact your team can persist after a battle concludes.

2) This has been asked many times but is there any status update BoA realm transfer? It really sucks having to pay money to transfer character when all we want to do is transfer BoA items to new realm because friend/family don't want to roll on PvP realm :(
Once again thank you very much.

We also spoke to GC about this again yesterday (we ping him about it a lot). He made it clear that there are no design issues or qualms about allowing this functionality. Instead, it's an issue of programmer bandwidth. Because of the way WoW was originally structured around accounts, followed by the introduction of Battle.net accounts, there's a technical limitation to allowing cross-realm BoAs which has to be overcome by our Battle.net team, not the WoW development team. At the moment that team is incredibly busy building out the Battle.net platform to expand its functionality for World of Warcraft and StarCraft II, and get Diablo III going.
We're adamant about making this happen. Unfortunately, I can't really give you a timeline and I know it's already felt too long.

Today's blues were quite entertaining! I wonder how Ghostcrawler gets anything done with how many times he's bugged about these things...
JBluntz Aug 19th 2011 2:03AM
When you're as influential as GC, a good portion of your job is giving advice and opinion; the trick is to realize that getting bugged and getting things done are two sides to the same coin...

I really like all of the candid responses from Blizz this week.
MusedMoose Aug 18th 2011 10:44PM
Two things:
1: I love hearing this sort of thing from the devs: "We're adamant about making this happen. Unfortunately, I can't really give you a timeline and I know it's already felt too long." While the issue at hand isn't one I'm personally concerned about, there's something great about hearing them basically say "We feel your pain, but it's not something we can do soon and here's why." It's nice to be reminded that they play the game too and experience some of the same issues.
2: The devs (okay, at least one) are now shortening transmogrification to "Mogging". I hope the term will catch on. Kupo!

Am I the only one that thinks this Void Storage thing is useless?
Of course, I may have missed some news, but if it isn't cross server/faction/whathave you, it's a complete waste of time, effort and gold.
Save some money and buy a friggin bag for your normal bank.
VioletArrows Aug 19th 2011 12:25AM
Good sized upgrade bags on my server are 5000g each. That would net me... 8 extra slots. This is considering people who haven't already put the 26-slot bags in every bank space.
Or, I could use that 5000g to deposit 50 items that I will likely never use but would be stupid to throw away, like a mint condition no longer obtainable lvl 60 Onyxia Head, a bunch of ugly tabards (*coughExplorercough*) I can't buy back but were difficult to get all the same, and a couple dozen memorable quest rewards (Thrall gave me a medal and his *pants*, as did A'dal- ...wait).
Eregos ftw! Aug 19th 2011 12:29AM
I think it's mostly useless too.
80 slots * 100g a piece= 8000 gold. That's right, 8K gold to simply STORE 80 pieces. To take them back out, it would cost another 8k.
That's 16k gold right there just to deposit and withdraw a full void storage. I know blizz has said that the price may be tweaked, but all I have to say is that it BETTER be tweaked, and tweaked to nothing, or next to nothing. If it's not, I won't be surprised if nobody uses the void storage.
Kadamon Aug 19th 2011 12:32AM
5k a bag? I'm assuming it's the 26slot. Total ripoff on price I'd say, I've seen them going for 3 and less on mine.
But the point being is, I could spent 5k on bags, that being the 22slot and buy 11 bags and still have about 1k left over replacing my bags, my entire banks bags too, that would leave me, if I had an empty bank, around 154 slots from just the bags, nearly twice the space of Void Storage and I'd never have to spend an extra penny.
That doesn't include regular storage either.
Don't know about you, but I don't think I'll ever have that much crap.
Eregos ftw! Aug 19th 2011 12:43AM
The first price for standard bank is probably cheaper if you buy the best bags, HOWEVER, the long time price is cheaper.
It's like buying a house instead of an apartment. It's a lot more expensive in the short time, but cheaper in the long run (assuming you stay in the apartment)
Amanda A. Aug 19th 2011 12:46AM
The 100g fee is NOT the final price. I actually got a blue response in the blog comments stating that. It's a placeholder while they're developing the system. (They also said Consortium rep will not give you a faction discount for this service.)
I'm on an RP server, and collect gear that might look good in a set someday. My bags and bank have been pretty much full since Wrath-- I carry 2 PvE armor sets, a PvP armor set, and 2-3 RP outfits in my bags, plus buff food, flasks, a few toys, etcetera-- and I have to go through every few months and vendor some stuff. I'll love Void to store all the random pieces that I might use someday and don't want to re-farm, but don't really use on a regular basis. This means I might even be able to store my PvP set when I'm not PvPing!
I'm also hoping that we can use voided items as a source for mogging without withdrawing them; I can put the RP plate I'm changing my active gear into in there, and save even more bag space!
Philster043 Aug 19th 2011 1:24AM
And on top of that, I think the 100g was actually to "unlock" your own personal void storage, not actually the price required for putting in/out items. Anyway, I can't see Blizzard going that high for a service of that sort. Maybe something like 5g an item which would be more than acceptable for most people at level 85. Even if it starts high, I can definitely see them nerfing the prices as time goes on, like they did with double spec's.
Matthew Aug 19th 2011 1:50AM
Clearly you do not play a mutli-talent druid with pve and pvp gear for all specs with a gathering profession who has been playing since 2007 and who collects tabards, old gear, and useless things that only have sentimental value, even a Helm of the Headless horseman that is plate but not useable by your class.
VioletArrows Aug 19th 2011 1:59AM
@Kadamon "I don't think I'll ever have that much crap."
Your playstyle and aversion to collecting is clearly superior. I concede.
Ruana Aug 19th 2011 11:48AM
Spoken as someone who doesn't collect gearsets. I have every slot in my bank with 24 slot bags or higher. Mostly 26 slots. My own bags are 26 slotters. Void Storage will free up at a minimum of 64 bag slots for my main, a feral druid whom I've played since Vanilla. 64 didn't count for trinkets, rings, or other jewelry, or weapons. And then there are the tabards.
You may think it isn't worth it. I do.
Skyrei Aug 19th 2011 12:28AM
As soon as Zarhym referred to transmogrification as "Mogging" i immediately thought of those lil' dudes from Final Fantasy
Philster043 Aug 19th 2011 1:26AM
Yeah, I keep thinking of Moggles every time it's mentioned, myself.
I'm also glad that nothing resembling Moggles are in WoW yet. Some things should remain unique to certain game franchises (*cough*chocobos*cough*).
MusedMoose Aug 19th 2011 8:07AM
Like I said: Kupo!
Khirsah Aug 19th 2011 1:09AM
To that one question about a rated battleground finder: I don't think it could ever happen. We've all seen what happens in a normal bg when your team is losing, can you imagine the griefing when ratings are on the line?
But, how bout rated duels? Just add another option to the right-click menu: "duel" or "rated duel". They could even give you 50 conquest points for a win, 25 for a loss or something like that. Cap at 350/week, and they count toward your overall conquest point cap.
What do you guys think?
Matthew Aug 19th 2011 1:46AM
Balancing one class vs another in a duel setting is going to be hard, and people might 'trade' wins and losses with people they know. Random duels wouldn't have this problem.
But that would be kinda cool, a random (to prevent arranging wins / losses) duels.
You might even see a holy priest. No, never.
Matthew Aug 19th 2011 1:52AM
Oh, I think /2 is a good rated bg finder. You're totally right. I can imagine the gnerdrage in rated bg chat.
