Anyone else excited about transmogrification? I'll be shooting for tier 2, tier 5 and tier 6 looks. I'd rank those three as the greatest-looking priest sets of all time. But we're not here to talk about things like cosmetic looks, because no one cares about that stuff, right?!
This week, we duck back into Firelands and take a look at Majordomo Staghelm. Among encounters that emphasize the use of cooldowns, the heroic phase of Halfus would be the Superbowl of all healing cooldown encounters. But the 25-man version of Majordomo, I would classify as the Olympics. There is a ton of preparation that needs to happen before throwing the entire raid in there. Before we devise a strategy that's going to work for you, there are a few questions you'll want to ask.
Answering those questions will determine things like how long you can stretch out a scorpion phase and a cat phase. Typically, I've found that kills occur with six healers. However, if your 25-player raid is starting Majordomo for the first time, I recommend starting with seven to gain an understanding of all the mechanics.
Scorpion phase
When Majordomo is in his scorpion form, you'll want to really focus on the overall healing. This form is extremely dangerous, and your raid will falter if you're not prepared for it. Flame Scythe is the threat here, as it'll blast your entire raid equally. The duration between Flame Scythe gradually gets smaller the longer Majordomo stays in scorpion form. Your raid will want to transition him at some point between six to eight Adrenaline stacks. The trick to managing the potency of Flame Scythe is effective cooldown usage.
Have a plan for each stack of Adrenaline and which player will use what cooldown. I'll list a few examples from my setup.
Once the players see the Spirit Link Totem, they immediately split up for the cat phases.
Cat phase
Divide the healers evenly around the room, three on each side. You can treat this as a mana regeneration phase. Your shaman can throw Lightning Bolts to take advantage of Telluric Currents if they feel it is safe or if it is necessary. It's a great time to fire off mana Hymns. But make sure to wait until after Majordomo leaps to take advantage of the gap between jumps.
Despite the relative ease of this phase, instruct your healers not to take it too lightly. There are some attacks and abilities to watch out for (Leaping Flames, for instance). We like to stack up on the sixth Adrenaline, but your mileage may vary. With higher DPS, you might be able to take on another cat.
Second scorpion phase
Then it's time to split up again once the next totem lands. Generally, this phase is really tricky because of all the players who have to run in and out to handle the various Searing Seeds. Have an out available in case a specific player isn't able to bust his cooldown. This is a really hard phase to get through, and it takes a little luck. But with enough practice and discipline, you should be able to get through it.
Second cat phase
Same thing as the first cat phase. Feel free to take it easy here. Nothing special to worry about. Use any mana potions or other regen tricks if you think you need to. Otherwise, just carry on and collapse the raid for the next scorpion phase when you feel ready.
Third scorpion phase
Treat this like the initial scorpion phase. The cooldowns used during the first scorpion phase should then be available. Use them in the same order here. Heroism won't be available, so you may want to layer another cooldown just in case or take one less Flame Scythe.
Third cat phase
This phase sucks. I'm not even going to try to sugarcoat it. Your ranged players will need to scatter and adapt to the different spores that exist. Each spore should have a rotating team of two DPS players to soak the beams. Once the closest player isn't able to take anymore, he should run out and his partner can then take on the beam. As healers, you need to adjust and head over to ensure that each pair can stay alive.
Last scorpion phase
This is the do-or-die phase. Majordomo should be under 25% health by now. If you're fresh out of cooldowns, you can send a DPS player with a taunt to stand on the other side of Majordomo and taunt right before a Flame Scythe, to eat one completely. You might be able to do it one more time after that. If you're really desperate and have absolutely nothing else left, you can split off again early and force a cat phase. You should be able to ignore the extra cats and just straight-up focus Majordown down.
Feel free to add or subtract a Flame Scythe at any scorpion phase, depending on your raid composition and how you feel. If you have an extra healer or extra cooldowns at your disposal, you can probably add one.
Enjoy your tier shoulders! Good luck, and good hunting!

- How many healers do you want to take in?
- How many overall defensive raid cooldowns are available?
- Is your DPS amazingly high?

You haven't lived through a Majordomo kill if you haven't experienced that spore setup at least once. Three spores in a row is a killer unless your raid group is disciplined and prepared for the eventuality. When in doubt, just head for the nearest cluster of spores. There's bound to be someone who needs healing.
In the event no DPS player is around, you (as a healer) can always jump into one and call out for help and relief until another raider can cover for you. Just don't stop healing yourself. After this phase, it'll be time to collapse into the final scorpion phase.

Does scorpion really suck that much more on 25?
On 10 we've been pushing him to 12 that first phase, and thats just with 1 tranq, lust, raidwall
JaydsterC2 Aug 20th 2011 9:30AM
Yes it is much worse on 25. On 10 man with no resist on first scorp phase it's 75k dmg each and on 25 man it's 90k dmg each.
xordon Aug 19th 2011 9:11PM
Because the boss's damage increases each time you transition the phase, it is important to take more stacks early rather than later. Order, 11 scorp - 7 cat - 5 scorp - 5 cat - 4 scorp - 5 cat - 4 scorp.
The first scorpion phase go to 11, time aura mastery so it gets #8 and #9, and then get a warrior to use rallying cry for #10, spread after #11.
First cat phase group up after 7, no cooldowns needed.
Second scorpion phase go to 5 (or 6 if your healers are really good). Use rallying cry for #1, spirit link #2, spirit link #3, aura mastery #4, raid wall #5, spread after #5. This phase is harder because you will have members running out to drop off their seeds.
Second cat phase go to 5, no cooldowns needed.
Third scorpion phase group up after 4. Use nothing for the first, rallying cry for #2, aura mastery #3, aura mastery #4, spread after #4.
Third cat phase go to 5, no cooldowns needed. This phase will have ranged taking orb damage so be aware.
Fourth scorpion phase group up after 4. Use rallying cry for #2, rallying cry for #3, aura mastery #4, spread after #4.
Fourth cat phase group up after 5, no cooldowns needed.
Fifth scorpion phase go to 4. spirit link #2, spirit link #3, aura mastery + raid wall #4. Seeds this phase. Boss should die in this phase, if he doesn't you need more dps.
I assume you use 1 paladin healer for aura mastery, 2 shaman healers for spirit link, a paladin tank, and 3 dps warriors for rallying cry.
You can sub in disc priests for shaman healers, warrior tank for pally tank, or other healer cooldowns instead of dps warriors. Just make sure you plan out your cooldown order ahead of time.

It was on Conquest (Matticus's guild) private forums. Also, him being 4/7 is right in the sense that since the split up, Conquest didn't go farther than that.
Equis Aug 19th 2011 11:11PM
Nice copy paste from beastyn's strat he worked on for you guys. Tho, sadly you guys are barely 4/7 normal modes on 25m...
Matt Low aka Matticus, you're pathetic.
Fletcher Aug 20th 2011 5:41AM
True or not, your delivery leaves a great deal to be desired - quite frankly, due to the jerkishness of your post I'm inclined to lean towards "not".
Zergal Aug 20th 2011 2:12PM
Making an account just to confirm what Equis said. Sorry if some people get annoyed when someone get paid to plagiate.
Jabadabadana Aug 20th 2011 3:32PM
Considering that if the information on his blog is accurate enough for me to look the guild up on wow heroes... they've killed fandral twice, which means at least 2 weeks on the fight (+ other time/bosses), so this article can't have been written while he was 4/7.
Also, I can't find this Beastsyn strat that you speak of. Searching the name just gets a link to a character, who has done the fight, but no strategies to copy paste from.
jeffreypaniagua Aug 20th 2011 6:59PM
Try looking at lulquest (Conquest) forums.

PROGRESSION RIGHT? LOLOLOL 17 WIPES ON A EZ-MODE FIGHT.
Aritra Aug 20th 2011 8:00AM
We have found Unholy Death Knights to be VERY beneficial for the Scorpion phases. Anti Magic Zone, if timed to be cast just before a Flamescythe will drastically reduce the amount of damage taken by the raid. A really great time to use it is just before spreading after the third Scorpion Phase and going into the Orb phase. The raid will have much higher HP overall giving you more time to get people positioned and such.
Emophia Aug 24th 2011 8:46AM
AMZ is stuck in teh wrath era only absorbs like 24k before it dies...
lastfatalfck Aug 20th 2011 11:55AM
you do not need 3 raid cooldowns on Scorpion2 FS #4 - our raid is pretty average in skill (we are 6/7 N) and we survive with 1 of those you mentioned plus MAYBE another if I see a few healers are running out. This is on 25M.
dj.clayden Aug 20th 2011 1:41PM
Are you running with 6 healers or 7?
Xsinthis Aug 20th 2011 12:36PM
You wanna be careful using a sacrificial goat
"Fandral now gains energy when his Flame Scythe hits fewer than 7 targets. The amount gained increases as fewer targets are hit."
treylem Aug 20th 2011 2:25PM
Wow Matt way to copy paste at least you could give credit it where it is due since you did none of the work or had anything to do with it. You sunk to a new low...
Wrath Aug 20th 2011 5:13PM
For a guild that doesnt have a moonkin, its funny that you have a moonkin tranqing in your healing rotation.
hipstermoonkin Aug 23rd 2011 12:50PM
Actually if you look at his logs, there is a balance druid.
munder66 Aug 20th 2011 5:14PM
Just so everyone knows, Matts guild did break up and the 2 kills were orchestrated by our raid leader at the time Beastyn. So that everyone does not praise Matt for someone elses hard work this is a copy and paste of Beastyn's strat. Good job Beastyn for doing such a great job putting in the hard work that was needed to kill Domo. Hope this strat is helpful to everyone that is working on thus boss for the first time.
spooney Aug 20th 2011 6:44PM
This writeup is a blatant ripoff of a strat written by conquest's ex-raid leader. No credit was given to the person who came up with this.
After the breakup of Matt's guild, all of Beastyn's strats, posts, and access were removed, so you will not be able to to confirm this. Just ask yourself why would 5 or 6 people take the time to post our objections, when we've moved on to heroic progression in our newly formed guild, while Matt's is stuck at 5/7 normal. He wiped on it 17 times this week, with the healing and dps not even near the amount needed to complete the encounter.
http://worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-fe5okonbj1gogoou/
Armory/WoL me if you want (Spooney@ner'zhul), I've been present for every kill in both Matt's guild and our new one, and please request that this ripoff of an article gets removed so that he doesn't make money from just copying and pasting someone else's hard work.
I don't care who gets credit or not, it doesn't' matter why we argue over content that is now weeks behind even average guilds, I just don't want him to profit off of something so immoral and unethical.
jason.amick Sep 14th 2011 9:13AM
I really agree with Aritra in this matter, as I have experienced it many times before. I was just looking for 6pm coupon Code.
