WRUP: Make it work, columnists
Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
In WoW, just as in the fashion world, one day you are in, and the next ... you are out.
All right, designers. This week, we learned the new transmogrification feature coming in patch 4.3 will let us revisit World of Warcraft fashion trends of the past. And that's your inspiration for this week's challenge: You have until midnight to create a post-4.3 look for any level 85 character that says, "I'm here, I'm tier, and I'm fabulous!"
Already, though, this shirtless paladin outfit here worries me. We're so close to the deadline, and it just looks ... unfinished. Barbaric Loincloth? Frankly, he looks like a homeless Abercrombie model.
And this other paladin ... is this Judgement tier? I'm concerned. It's a little ... stumbled home from Blackwing Lair at 3 a.m., don't you think?
[takes a long, lengthy, silent look]
I'll leave you alone.
Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) (gplus.to/adamholisky) I'll be derping around on one of my toons. Been thinking about bringing the rogue up to 85 again... very tempting. My patch 4.3 outfit will be the tier 6 armor I've saved for my warrior. I really can't wait to walk around with the Bulwark of Azzinoth again. Also, Benediction on my priest. Muhahahaha.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I'm housesitting this weekend, so no games for me. But I am getting a jump on the Global Writing Contest because, well, why not? As for outfit -- Bloodfang + Cursed Vision of Sargeras + Perdition's Blade and a Core Hound Tooth. I may swap out the Bloodfang for Dungeon Set 2. Mostly I'm just gibbering over the fact that I'll have bank space again.
Basil Berntsen (@outdps) I'm going to be spending the weekend doing arena. I think that I'm going to try and dress my hunter in the finest intellect or expertise mail I can get my grubby paws on. PVPers rely heavily on sight to identify their opponents, so this should be interesting.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) (gplus.to/danielwhitcomb) Assuming my computer doesn't completely give out on me, I have a couple of archaelogy rares to finish, and with any luck, a few more to unearth. I still want that Professor title. My post-4.3 outfit is still taking shape. I'm thinking either the purple judgement set, which I already have about half-farmed, or the DK starting zone gear, which I do have saved in my bank. Maybe tier 10. I'll figure it out.
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) This weekend, I'll probably be playing my 3DS (Ocarina of Time, of course), playing some of that sweet, sweet Bastion, and capping out my VP. Picking out the right outfits for all my characters -- man, that's something I'll have to theorycraft for quite a while. I know for sure that I want the tier 6 priest shoulders -- they're pretty much the shadow priest shoulders. I don't like the tier 6 headpiece though, so I may mix and match. Mismatched colors don't bug me -- it all looks the same in Shadowform.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Apartment hunting still, the one I had lined up fell through, so still on the prowl. Maybe some LoL if there's time. Outfit: Tier 2, still one of my absolute favorite shaman sets of all time.
Josh Myers (@Elamqt) I'm still internetless, so I'm not playing much of anything at the moment. As for outfits, I'm thinking tier 8. Ulduar was my favorite raid in the game, and I think the weapon models from it are some of the best WoW has ever seen.
Kelly Aarons (@Cadistra) Working on the super-secret new comic for WoW Insider! Then I'm meeting my Pathfinder group on Sunday. I also just started a new job this week, so I have literally not played anything. I am disappoint. But, in regards to the 4.3 fashion show, I'm going with full druid T6 -- Thunderheart! I already have the Pillar of Ferocity (first time drop doing Hyjal!), so that will complete my super-druid ensemble.
Lisa Poisso (@emused) (gplus.to/lpoisso) Back-to-school weekend, so we're offline for one last weekend of fun, probably including a trip to the museums on Sunday. As for what outfit? Going back to the beginning with Prophecy and/or Transcendence with my lovely Benediction, of course.
Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) (gplus.to/gomatgo) Planning BlizzCon stuff and playing League of Legends. Outfit is Warrior's Embrace, duh. That's it.
Matt Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) (gplus.to/MatthewWRossi) I'm going to let a picture speak for me here.
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Playing Bastion this week, along From Dust, on the 360. I need to get into WoW this weekend and run a heroic as well to cap VPs for the week. As for transmog, I'll probably initially do a Judgement armor set for the hell of it, along with the original Quel'Serrar and the Bulwark of Azzinoth. I have some other ideas on the drawing board that I'll need to work on.
Michael Gray (@writegray) (gplus.to/writegray/) This weekend, I'm going to the Pennsylvania Ren Faire. I wonder if any readers will be there. Outfit: Like most other paladins, it's time for Judgement.
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) (gplus.to/cosmiclaurel) I'm too busy playing that other game to think about what clothes I'm going to wear in 4.3. Oh and I'm also playing Sims 3, Tiny Tower and PvZ. In addition, I'm going to try to level Roblinator to 55 so I don't have to quest in Winterspring during Choose My Adventure on Wednesday at 1 p.m. EDT.
Tyler Caraway (@murmursofadruid) Tyler generally prefers not to wear any gear or clothing -- at least, that's what I've noticed when I've been around.
The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!

I love you so much for this post. XD
gobuywow Aug 19th 2011 9:32PM
I love the first picture more than the post lol

My problem is that Tim Gunn could never possibly have a negative reaction to Paladin T2. It's just too amazing and his taste is too good.
musicchan Aug 20th 2011 8:21PM
I agree. The article intro is so amazing, I have no words.
Arrohon Aug 19th 2011 9:24PM
Ew, naked Lazerchicken/warlock!
Shade Aug 19th 2011 9:35PM
You bring up an interesting point... could a gear slot be mogged to look like nothing? I mean, as long as you have one open bag slot, you have the "gear" that would be "equipped" there!
...sadly, it seems that Foxlight will never be able to raid without a shirt, because there is no way they're going to allow naked players. Otherwise, every smart PvPer would mog all slots to look like nothing's equipped.
MusedMoose Aug 19th 2011 9:42PM
I know there's a chestpiece, some reward from a Horde quest, that's effectively invisible - you wear it and it looks like you're not wearing anything. But other than that, I think we're out of luck for naked raids. :(
HappyTreeDance Aug 19th 2011 9:46PM
Leather wearers will be able to raid without their shirts on.

MacAndy Aug 19th 2011 9:51PM
Not so fast....
Sandrene's Invisible Vest is, well, invisible. And it has stats, so theoretically it could be available for transmogrification.
Shame there's not a full invisible set. :-/

In the Hinterlands. Fox. Go. Now. Clearly your guild will prioritize this over Firelands progression. And keep that loincloth!
Also, rule 32'ing you and Tyler's boomkin :33333 Unless you have a no-troll policy. You didn't go into detail about that whilst describing your RFC escapades. Still, I'm told you gotta do your community service sometimes.
....too much? You tell me D:
Tirrimas Aug 19th 2011 10:09PM
It makes me sad that plate can't be mogged into a leather-piece's appearance. My Warrior would so rock the shirtless look.
Heleos Aug 19th 2011 9:36PM
So I have to HAVE the armor to be able to wear it? What if I deleted it? :(
VioletArrows Aug 19th 2011 11:02PM
You're out of luck until they figure out a way for folks to earn one-time pieces back.

"And people, remember to use all the FABULOUS items on the Blizzard Store Wall to accessorize..."
Kylenne Aug 20th 2011 2:24AM
We are long, long overdue for a Tim Gunn reference in WoW. Make it work, Blizzard*!
*please, dear god, make him a blood elf.
MusedMoose Aug 19th 2011 9:40PM
I've said it before, but it's the Tirisfal Regalia for my fire mage:
http://www.wowhead.com/itemset=649
The whole set is just beautiful.
And wow, I hadn't really seen the Bloodfang set before, but damn, no wonder everyone likes it so much. That's awesome and quintessentially rogue. Probably be seeing it a lot, and y'know what? That's okay with me. ^_^
HappyTreeDance Aug 19th 2011 9:40PM
This post is so full of win. Now I have Tim Gunn saying "Transmogrification" in my head.
Sinfulle Aug 19th 2011 11:54PM
"Just make it work! mmkk? Thank You!"
Kylenne Aug 20th 2011 2:26AM
It's such a Tim word, isn't it?
Now all we need is Michael Kors as an orange leper gnome.
HappyTreeDance Aug 20th 2011 8:51AM
Actually, the best thing about this article is that, prior to Transmogrification even being announced, I decided I would RP my goblin mage a crazy fashion designer, coming up with fashions as over the top as Alexander McQueen's. And I was thinking I should go watch some old seasons of Project Runway for inspiration. I am going to have SO MUCH FUN coming up with wacky outfits for him to wear now!
