Only earth shock for fulmination procs and flame shock to renew the dot. If you dont have fulmination procced or flameshock dot needing reapplied, you just cast your fillers (lava burst -> lightning bolt)

My priority for elemental is fulmination > flame shock re-dot > lava burst > lightning bolt

Hold off for Fulmination, but watch your Flame Shock duration. If it's less than six seconds, don't Earth Shock and reapply Flame. Some kind of debuff timer is a great help for this.

fulmination isn't worth it until you have at least 7 or 8 stacks. Even then it does not beat out Lava Burst (assuming flame shock is on target of course). Since it shares a cooldown with flame shock, you don't want to cast it during the last 6 seconds of that.

Basically, if you don't have a full 9 and flame shock has more than 8 seconds (I like to pack in a couple extra seconds to make sure I don't risk dropping it), then you should not cast Earth Shock. If you have more than 7 stacks, and flame shock only has 8 seconds, then a quick ES to clear stacks is still a dps gain over getting stuck with 9 stacks waiting for ES to be ready again after FS refresh.


In AOE situations, FS other mobs on cd provided primary target never drops, and only ES at 9 stacks. Fire Nova actually becomes worth it once FS is on 3 or more mobs.

If there is any doubt or hesitation, then just wait for 9 stacks and only fire when FS has plenty of time. That's better than letting FS die, missing a lava burst, or casting ES too soon over lightning bolt. It's not good enough to stress over.

Only cast earth shock if you have 7-9 charges and flame shock won't need to be refreshed in the next 6 seconds. TotemTimers is great for showing you how much time flame shock has left and your charges of lightning shield (as well as other things).

Also, flame shock and lava burst should be higher up the priority than earth shock/fulmination.

Never, ever, ever use Earth Shock without at least 7 orbs on Lightning Shield. I usually only do it when I get the graphical prompt since I know it'll provide maximum damage.

My favorite Elemental add on is Elementarist. It pretty much takes all the guess work out of which spell to use and when. Try it out..I'm sure you'll like it as much as I do. It has helped me out with my rotation/priority tremendously.
