Transmogrification looks like it's going to be pretty cool once it lands in
patch 4.3, but of course, there's just one thing coming between you and being covered in cool gear from previous content:
getting the cool gear from previous content. Some folks are lucky enough to have gathered all of the Really Cool-Looking Gear they wanted in the process of raiding past dungeons
to death, but others may now rue their empty banks.
So, with all this 'mogging talk, have you made a trip to any older dungeons to grab items for their looks alone? Have you delved into Ulduar to get that Darkruned set for your newly 85 DK? Blasted through Blackwing Lair for your paladin's Judgement set? Grabbed some horribly sexist gear for your unfortunate female avatar (don't lie)? You're not alone, if so. Where have you gone lately in search of fine wearable works of art?

Sadly, speaking of DK Ulduar gear... Freya (25) still has my pants.
I thought last time I went in there she would at least give them back, but noooo she gave them to a rogue!
-_-
Rogue sappin' my sets!

Your boss will drop your pants eventually...only difference is you can't complain about it when he/she does.
Shela Monster Aug 21st 2011 9:25AM
When she does, I'll be sure to enjoy it.

I didn't know how eager you were to get inside Freya's pants...
But in all seriousness, I also have a DK and I can't wait to run in my valor set again.

You have to love Wowhead sometimes! They have a great tool to look at sets by tier/class... Go there NOW! I know you can't resist!

Been hitting Shadow Labs, Hellfire Citadel, and Coilfang Resevoir for the Purple Judgement set. Got everything but the hands and the shoulders...man those shoulders do not want to drop.

I should add that I have been farming it on my death knight, because RP wise she used to be a paladin in her past life and she still clings to some vestiges of her past.
DeathPaladin Aug 21st 2011 9:56AM
I was tempted to do the same for my DK, but decided against it because he wasn't a Paladin. Instead, I ran my first heroic in a while yesterday so I could gather up some JP to buy the Scourgelord Battleplate and get 5/5 for the set (I got the Blade-Scored Carapace while I was building my tier set, so that's the one piece I left out).
It's just too bad that the only matching boots and belt drop from Heroic ICC bosses. I'll be able to get close, but won't be able to get the whole set for a while.

I farmed that set some time ago. I went from friendly to exalted with Lower City from Shadow Labs mob kills and neutral to high revered with Aldor before the chest dropped. (I'm somewhat OCD about clearing old dungeons...)

The day the news about Transmogrification went out, I went back to OHB and Black Morass for the last pieces of purple Judgement and the Righteous plate dungeon set I needed for my paladin (the boots of the former and the pants of the latter). I'd taken a break from my farming out of frustration. They BOTH dropped that day! Now I need a good shield. I'm set for one-handed sword and mace, so I should probably get an axe too, based on what tanking weapons I get.

If I was still a Horde hunter, I'd have definitely used the level 60 Warlord gear...but having faction-changed to Alliance, the Warlord gear is changed to the Field Marshal gear whose art is just BLLLLAAARRRGGHHHH. So I guess I'll just stick to whatever my T12 (I like the art on it anyway) and convert my ranged weapon to either Rhok'delar or the Golden Bow of Quel'thalas or the Black Bow of the Betrayer, among the various choices available in my bank. Damn am I glad I kept every single ranged weapon I ever got in a raid.
Mortenebra Aug 21st 2011 8:36AM
I'm a little ashamed to admit that somewhere in the great bog that is my bank, I've lost the Black Bow of the Betrayer.
I have my heart set on the Golden Bow of Quel'thalas, mainly because my hunter is a blood elf and it's only fitting that she use a namesake bow. Right? I mean, psh, who needs the bow of that fool Illidan when I can be using the bow of her homeland? Yeah, that's it!
I guess I could save this question for the queue, but do the stats on the armor/weapons have to match what your character would use? E.g. Could a hunter use mail armor with stam/int/spirit on it? Or old mail gear that still has strength/stam on it?
Mortenebra Aug 21st 2011 8:38AM
Ugh, too early in the morning... I should clarify: Could a hunter use the skin of a mail piece that originally had stam/int/etc or other non-huntery stats?
Thayer Aug 21st 2011 8:45AM
The stats don't matter, just the armor type. So as a hunter, you can make your mail look like other mail. If you were to wear leather and lose your mail specialization bonus, you could transmogrify your leather to look like other leather. Whatever you wear, the armor type has to match to transmogrify.
Knob Aug 21st 2011 8:59AM
Yes, you can transmog into shaman mail if you like the look of it. The restriction is that the piece needs to have stats, but there's no requirement of a specific set of stats.
Rankin Aug 21st 2011 9:18AM
As long as the mail armor doesn't have the Shaman class restriction, you can transmogrify it.
Udderpowered Aug 21st 2011 8:45AM
On my paladin I might go for the purple judgement (when it's high enough to solo TBC anyway), on my priest I'm thinking of going for less flashy stuff, maybe some tailoring greens.
Still pissed about not being able to use Twill though. Let us use greys, Blizzard!
Saikoujin Aug 21st 2011 8:52AM
I'm a bit confused over the whole mogging process. For example, as an 85 paladin, am I not able to mog any dungeon/raid/tier set unless it's plate? What about dungeon sets pre level 40? Like the Chain of the Scarlet Crusade set. It's all mail. Therefore, does this mean that it will be off limits for plate wearers to mog? Will there be exceptions? I tried to scour the blue posts but haven't seen any satisfactory answer.
