Breakfast Topic: World of Prankcraft

Nay. It was the priests in my raid having very little scruples and all the Dispels they could keybind to their bars on the Volcanus fight inside of Firelands. For those not in the know, Volcanus is a special boss that you summon when you are on the quest chain for the legendary staff Dragonwrath. Part of the fight requires having fiery roots dispelled off of the raid in order to continue fighting a giant flaming tree -- but do this too early and you will get punted into the air, sailing gracefully into the hot, steamy emptiness underneath Firelands. Did this happen to anyone else? No, some priest saw fit just to do this to me, a pitiful gnome mage. (Thankfully, it was no match for my Blink-and-Evocate one-two punch!)
Which brings me to my question, dear readers: Have you ever been on the butt-end of a dumb prank? Or were you the one who logged onto your friend's character and left him stranded with no gear and no hearthstone in an enemy town?

I heard of *certain* holy priests who are fond of running their fellow raid members off the elevator in Blackwing Descent by putting Body and Soul on them just as they come close to the edge of the platform, then Leap-of-Faithing them back to the top :-D
Not me, though. Noooooooo!
A guildie of mine often summons us to Valley of Strength at the end of a raid, but first he flies up to the very end of the claw of a building crane. 24 people end up stacked practically standing on thin air high above Orgrimmar.

There have been several deaths to the elevator boss caused by my Stampeding Roar as they near the edge. Except I don't rescue them, I just rez them at the bottom and tell them that no, I am not turning on guild repairs for this.

Unrelated to topic but was this one done via Seed? It doesn't say so on the top and the rest of the articles by this guy are Seed Breakfast Topics. It just stuck out to me /shrug

Not at the top, but the bottom of the post.

A very harmless one: One of the raid leaders in my previous guild was a great player but was notoriously bad at timekeeping, and would usually show up significantly late for raids he'd organised. In one very memorable case the other 24 people all stood around in Orgrimmar with focusing lenses ( http://www.wowhead.com/item=41367 ) and gave him a 24-way highlighting as soon as he logged in.

While not intentionaly disruptive, I do tend to make smart ass macros or say things in chat that end up causing people to loose focus. Things like "Do I make you Thorny?" when my druid uses thorns on someone, or "Thats right, come to Padre..." on my priest's leap of faith ability.
I do remember one time, during heroic halls of stone, I made one snarky comment as I usually rebutted and argued with Brahn Bronzebeard's dialog during his "computer hacking fiasco" that ended up making everyone wipe. I replied "I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico" to Brahn's question "Hightened? Whats the good news?" Later, while leveling my Druid to current content level, I started replying "We aren't horde" in lue of the longer Geico joke and got similar responses. Lets be honest here though, he is pretty lucky that the horde really can't do anything to him for his problematic thirst for knowledge.

Portal to Stonard after the raid, anyone?
babywhiz Aug 22nd 2011 8:43AM
Or Theramore...

portal next to summoning stone/lock port is also fun >=)

I prefer playing portal roulette after a raid. I'll usually get portals up to Tol Barad, Shattrath and Theramore one on top of another before people start noticing, which is long after they've already been clicking. :)

Once, many years ago, before the Burning Crusade, I was waiting for the zeppelin at the Tirisfal tower.
This was back in the days when Levitate was only a self-buff, and I was playing around with the spell while I waited for the Zep.
As I did so, I was approached by a warlock who demanded that I buff him with Levitate.
I tried to explain to him that this was only a self-buff and that I could not share it with him. He countered that I was selfish and a noob and didn't know how to play my class. I admitted that he was right, I was being selfish and hogging the good buffs for myself.
So I buffed him with Shadow Protection. He LOL'ed at me and hopped off the tower, plummeting to the bottom. He survived the fall, barely... and just in time to be nipped in the ass by one of the wandering demon hounds, which killed him dead. Now it was my turn to LOL.
When he began whispering me, demanding a res and repair fees, I put him on ignore.

I once logged in to find my character out in the boonies naked...
With [Reins of the Raven Lord] in her pack.
Somehow, I was able to forgive my friend. :D
Pantro Aug 22nd 2011 8:53AM

If I were you, I would end the friendship and kill this scoundrel in his (or her) sleep!

Portal roulette.
Set up one of each portal in the same spot, sit back, watch, and laugh.
Revnah Aug 22nd 2011 8:41AM
Oh yes. Or, like a mage in my guild, open a portal right on top of a warlock's summoning stone. Those who clicked to help summon the rotated raid member, suddenly found themselves in Dalaran.
MattKrotzer Aug 22nd 2011 8:46AM
That still works? For some reason, I'd thought Blizzard nerfed that.
Still, always hilarious when we did that back in the day.
Natsumi Aug 22nd 2011 10:39AM
There is a way to select the proper portal in a roulette situation, just mouse around the edge of the portal. Even if every portal is up in exactly the same spot, the locations dont change at the edge. I found this out when one of our more Notorious mages decided to pull this off in ICC. Usually he would just put up ports to Darnassus when people asked for Dalaran, people would click without looking :p
He's also the same mage that got tired of some idiot telling him to help summon his friend, so he opened a portal to Exodar and told him to click to help summon then dropped group afterwards and put the moron on ignore.
