Don't forget to check out The Daily Quest and our Weekly Podcast Roundup to find out what else is going on in the WoW community. And if you have a news tip, feel free to drop us a line and let us know.
Blue posts
We've added some new images to our Void Storage preview which show off the updated UI for Void Storage vaults, as well as the new bag search feature in action. Let us know what you think!
http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/blog/2817227#blog
Also, just to clear up a few points of confusion:
Void Storage vaults will be per character, not per account. We're still very interested in providing a way for players to share BoA items cross-realm, but there are a number of technological milestones we need to reach before we can make that kind of service available.
The prices for unlocking a Void Storage vault, depositing items, and withdrawing items are still under discussion. The values shown in the blog screenshots should not be considered final.
You don't need to place an item in Void Storage in order to use it for Transmogrification. The systems are completely separate. They're designed to complement one another, but not require each other.
Most tabards will be eligible for Void Storage (excluding a few which cannot become soulbound to a character).

The Blizzard Fan Art Section has been updated with five new pieces of fan artwork set within the Warcraft universe.
The gold cost for Transmogrification hasn't been set in stone, but it's likely to be very similar to Reforging, meaning it'd scale with item level (probably the level of the item actually equipped).
I'd like to provide an update on this statement I made. It turns out that Heirlooms will be eligible targets for Transmogrification.
Also (and this applies to all Transmogrified items), trading, mailing, auctioning or depositing an item in a guild bank will remove the Transmogrified art, returning the item in question to its original artwork.
So, while you won't have to stare at the same old Heirlooms the whole time you're leveling, you won't be able to send a set of Heirlooms that have been Transmogrified with tier 13 art to your level 10 alt.

These spambot comment programs are certainly getting smarter - that one almost seemed relevant. Kind of.

New Blue post today states that Heirlooms now qualify for transmogrification.

Sneaky Blues!
Thanks, and updated :)

I'm sooooo happy about this. When they mentioned heirlooms would not be eligible for Xmog I was incredibly diassapointed. I posted a thread to the official forums suggesting that they implement it in *exactly* the way they have chosen to implement it.
Maybe Blizzard do actually read and take suggestions from the forums after all. :)
I'm wondering if the fact that Blizzard is saying transmog costs will be based on the ilevel of the item means that they are going to stay permanently low for HLs - since they are technically lvl1 items.
GrandOldDuke Aug 23rd 2011 2:01AM
Awesome.
So, here's the question that I don't want to go back and check myself: say you send a BoE to your new alt to transmogrify its heirlooms into. Would it be able to actually do the mogging if its level isn't high enough to equip the item already?

Warrior T6
I approve
MusedMoose Aug 22nd 2011 10:01PM
Seconded. Definitely getting that on my draenei warrior, that and/or as much of a look-alike of the Crystalforge set as I can get:

Does anyone know if it's at all possible to buy other classes' gear with the tokens you get old tier gear with? I don't think it is, but I've never had the chance to try. @_@
Literaltruth Aug 22nd 2011 11:16PM
Gotta say...I really don't get the huge love that warrior T6 gets. It just seems boxy with a few spikes on it, and not terribly detailed.
Then again, I don't really get warriors either, with no magic or summons or flashy effects, I just don't get the appeal. Maybe it's just that t6 is an aesthetic that appeals to people whose idea of a good time is smashing things repeatedly with big chunks of metal until they're dead :).
Literaltruth Aug 22nd 2011 11:22PM
@musedmoose
One of the key limitations of Xmogging is that you cannot use as, either the source or the recipient of the Xmog, a piece of armour that your class cannot equip due to class or armor type restrictions. In other words, you can't use the artwork from tier pieces for other classes - even if you could buy them (which I'm pretty sure you can't anyway) or if they are a drop.
You may be able to find a recoloured version of it in a dungeon or something...?
MusedMoose Aug 22nd 2011 11:28PM
@ Literaltruth -
I think you've actually hit a reason why people like warriors: no magic, no pets, no Light, just metal and muscle. There's something wonderfully primal about just plain beating the tar out of things without anything but some heavy metal. ^_^ I'm sure people like the warrior class for different reasons, but that's part of why I like it.
As for t6, it's not fancy, it's not flashy, it's not even really shiny. But it looks like it's there to keep the wearer alive, the kind of stuff someone would wear when they're about to wade into a horde of things that want to rip them into bite-sized pieces. Again, that's why I like it.
MusedMoose Aug 22nd 2011 11:31PM
@ Literaltruth, again -
Ah, thank you. That actually makes sense - I doubt Blizzard would want the unique class looks to be appropriated by other classes. I have found some things that look similar, though - Wowpedia has a page for set look-alikes:
http://www.wowpedia.org/Set_look_alikes
There's some of the Crystalforge armor there, but no legs. Either I need to find a substitute or it's pantsless warrior time. ...actually, that could be fun. ^_^
Arrohon Aug 22nd 2011 10:31PM
I want to know what art will appear on the armory and character select screen. I'd imagine their goal is what it's mogged to look like but it might be difficult for the armory. I'm not a software developer though so it might actually not be that hard.

I had been wondering about the heirloom question, good to know the answer.

And they're right back to being stupid..
bdew Aug 23rd 2011 4:15AM
So you can transmog BoA items... but it will reset upon mailing. Is this a joke? are they expecting us to transmog them to lvl 10 greens?
Yet more meaningless limitations to make a potentially cool system mostly useless and pointless.
Meh enough is enough. I have about 2 weeks of sub left and once it's done i'm out. Will catch up on some SP games until SW:TOR releases. Bonus points for not having to see a fucking troll heroic ever again.
I guess blizzard will take 9,000,000 lost subs to wake up... 900,000 is not enough apparently.
Blackdemon Aug 23rd 2011 5:46AM
Makes perfect sense to me. IMO alts shouldn't be wearing inherited Tier armour. Or any other armour that they haven't earned themselves for that matter.
Making it possible to reskin the heirlooms is a good idea though so you don't have to look the same for 80/85 levels. You are likely to pick up a load of gear while levelling which you can mog the heirlooms to.
Al Aug 23rd 2011 4:17AM
But anyways - this Blue post just missed the article, but it's good for a laugh.

I can see it now - transmogrification on your lava bolt crossbow or other trash drop epic to look like a lesser item, then run FL trash runs, and keep rolling on them to sell in the AH.
