Recap of Blizzard Entertainment at Gamescom 2011
Blizzard has returned from Cologne, Germany, and the Gamescom convention with tales of triumph, competition, and tons of patch 4.3 goodness for us World of Warcraft players. The community site's blog was updated with a big recap of all of Blizzard's events from the show, in case you missed any of the fun from the live streams. World of Warcraft was represented by top guilds For the Horde and Ensidia trouncing through the Firelands in live raids for Gamescom attendees, as well as the new patch 4.3 features Void Storage, Raid Finder, and transmogrification.
StarCraft 2 showcased some cool show matches between top players, and Diablo 3 had a big hands-on gaming area that, obviously, filled up quicker than humanly possible. Seriously, can't that game just come out already? Blizzard wrapped up its recap with familiar dance and costume contests, with winners earning a trip to BlizzCon in October. Check out the full recap at the World of Warcraft community site for an awesome video of the Diablo 3 street art from the show.

Blizzard attended gamescom again this year, and this time we had Diablo III, StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm and World of Warcraft: Cataclysm all available to play. Were you one of the record breaking 275,000 visitors to come to the event? If you were, we hope you enjoyed playing our games, participating in our developer signing sessions and quizzes, as well as watching our developer interviews, contests and the highly entertaining show matches and live raids.
StarCraft II: Show Matches
As well as having a version of StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm available to play, we also had several awesome StarCraft II show matches, with some of the best and most-well known players battling it out on the stage.
TSL.Killer, SeleCT, MC, DIMAGA, mOOnGLaDe, Tarson, White-Ra, MaNa, Dignitas.KiLLeR, DieStar and Puma dazzled the audience with their lightning-quick moves, all set to the smooth stylings of HomerJ's exceptional shoutcasting.
World of Warcraft: Live Raids
Top class guilds For the Horde and Ensidia showcased their team skills against fearsome Firelands raid bosses in our World of Warcraft live raids.
Diablo III: Hands on
A playable version of the upcoming Diablo III was available and each morning eager fans rushed in to ensure our queue filled to capacity in only a couple of minutes.
Costume Contest
On Saturday, our show stage was transformed by our costume contest. Dressed as the brooding Sylvanas Windrunner, Laura B took first place and a well-earned trip to BlizzCon 2011.
Dance Contest
On Friday we held a dance contest on the stage, where participants displayed their own creative interpretations of the World of Warcraft racial dances. Performing the female goblin dance with great skill, Ronja O walked away with first prize.
Thanks for coming!
We'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of the participants in our contests and events and of course all of the visitors who stopped by our booth to play our games.

Be warned, the first two dancers are...how to put this delicately...atrocious. Picks right up with 3 and four though. The winner is the girl with the thigh high stockings.
Purely research purposes, lol. SCIENCE, HOOOOO!

Gotta love the scientific method.

One of the things that I guess was mentioned at gamescon (but I haven't seen any info about) is a "Darkmoon Faire Island." I guess it's too deep in development to get an official preview like the other new features.

Sorry, but the star of the show at GamesCOM was GUILD WARS 2!
If you haven't seen any videos yet, you should, as they've changed the way an MMO works.
Much as I'm sure the Fanboys will want to downrate me to maintain their own waning interest in WoW, keep in mind I discovered GW2 on THIS SITE.
Can't wait!!
