I think this is exactly right for players that are focusing on hard modes. I think from the comments so far that players who are focusing on normal modes don't experience the same issue. Which makes sense, because the problem that Allison is pointing out is that defeating the same boss multiple times is inherently less exciting. If your goal for a raid tier is to defeat every boss on normal mode, you don't have that problem. It's just like the BC progression for you, where each boss is a fun new achievement. However, when you're at the hard mode level, it's hard to enjoy either mode sometimes. You outgear or outskill the normal mode encounters, so defeating them just seems like something that you should be doing, not a challenge to be all that excited about. And then you get to hard modes, and it's the same boss but on annoying mode. They tend to be tedious execution fights, where by the time you actually kill the boss, you sometimes think "finally, we should have had that 2 days ago" instead of "Wow, we all played really great there and stepped up to the challenge." Achievements add another hurdle for groups that care about them. For me at least, this article hit exactly why I've been less excited about raiding lately.
