I personally went through wowhead and built my Paladin the perfect setup for T6 gear. The best (in my opinion) Paladin set ever. I'm going to get a Bulwark of Azzinoth and everything. The weapon is the only thing that I'm having a hard time with. There aren't too many good gold/silver/purple weapons in the game that don't look horrible. I'd really like a mace and so far the Rod of the Sun King from KT is going to be the best fit. I've got a bit of farming to do in BT and BfMH but it should be a fun experience. I've wanted a Bulwark of Azzinoth for ages ever since BT was released back in the day. The first Illidan kill I was in on at the tail end of TBC one dropped and it went to the warrior that had been tanking and he stopped playing shortly after...
The difficult things to get are going to be in old content but content that isn't soloable. Vanilla raids are easy enough to solo (though some mechanics do make this impossible in some cases" but going through Wrath and even TBC content it you will have to find people that are doing the same thing on your server. It might be interesting to start threads on each realms forums to find groups to farm content and get the pieces you want quicker. Might be something to pull the community together?

If you're after a weapon to go with Lightbringer, I might suggest the Hammer of the Astral Plane, Lucky Old Sun, or The Grinder - for Alliance, it not being available for Horde.
As for shields, I'm not sure that the Bulwark of Azzinoth, mighty though it may be, matches Lightbringer well. The Aegis of Damnation/Shield of Condemnation/Don Gonzales' Shiny Shield are nicely blue and gold, and match the Hammer of the Astral plane in particular.
If you're Alliance, you could also try the Bastion of Purity or Bulwark of the Royal Guard (good for dwarves!) from the ToC raid, and of course the Royal Crest of Lordaeron from H CoS is a great pally shield (it's also technically available to Horde, but in my opinion as a medical professional* equipping this while Horde will cause your genitalia to develop suppurating boils and rot).

Isn't it funny how that sort of thing always happens? Someone gets some great gear and winds up quitting (for whatever reason)? I think the first (or second) Battered Hilt in my guild back after 3.3 was won by a druid tank who made the mace and had to quit not long after.

I know there may be shields that match it a little bit better but there are a number of reasons why I want the Bulwark of Azzinoth. Besides it being completely awesome, I've always looked up tank information at maintankadin.com and their logo (other than the tank with wings) on one of their shirts is a paladin in T6 with a bulwark and it looks awesome. Also, the Bulwark of Azzinoth isn't a dark black shield or even a dark grey. It actually has a little bit of a purple tint to it so it does match the T6 quite well even though it doesn't have any gold in it.
As for weapons, I think I might have to go with a burnished Quel'Serrar though I would prefer a mace. The maces you listed are nice looking but I think it should be more purple than blue since the T6 set has gold/silver/purple to it. I did use the Hammer of the Astral planes when I had my full T7.5 set though and that looked good. I may try to find my Merciless Gladiator's Gavel though cause that looks pretty freakin awesome too. I just may have gotten rid of it a long time ago....
