Breakfast Topic: The new Darkmoon Faire
In case you missed it, Blizzard has unveiled the new and improved Darkmoon Faire that will be coming to Azeroth in patch 4.3. The Darkmoon Faire will occupy an entire island and be filled to the brim with new quests, rewards, fun novelty items, and even a brand new, free-for-all PVP arena in the same vein as the Gurubashi Arena. The changes are massive, turning the Darkmoon Faire into a whole new experience for players.
There are so many features coming with the new Faire that it's hard to choose the coolest one. So that's what we should talk about this morning. What is your favorite feature coming with the new Darkmoon Faire? Is it the ability to purchase old vanity armor sets that are difficult to obtain or just don't exist anymore? What about the ability to gain five skill points in all of your professions per week while the Faire is in town? Are you a questaholic, excited to complete all of the new quests and storylines that the Faire will provide? How about collecting Darkmoon Artifacts, found all over the world, in order to earn prizes, rewards, and more?

As yet I lack sufficient information to make a valid judgment on it. It could be awesome or it could be the Argent Tournament with more grinding and less phat lewtz. Come 4.3 - or the 4.3 PTR - we'll find out.

I see your point. With no actual experience of the area it's hard to make a judgement, however, I have to say that just the advertised changes have made me want to go check it out. I've been playing WoW since Vanilla and I've visited the DMF once in that whole time, was totally underwhelmed, and never went back to see it again. This at least will get me to give it a second try.

That the daily quests will be minigames! Sorry Bliz, but... killing another 8 Charred Invaders every day just didn't cut it for me.

Since the Faire will only be open for a short time each month, I'm doubting the quests will be a true daily quest hub. I'm betting the dailies and rewards won't be tied into progression very much, maybe just introducing new Darkmoon Card trinkets.
If they're going to revamp Darkmoon Faire, it'll have to survive more than just this one expansion. Too much progression = little to no relevance after 5.0.

Yeah. Whether it's stealing 22 fish or killing 12 spiders. It all gets kind of boring. At least with TB there are a couple dif quests that rotate in like the bombing boats one. It would be cool if they made one tied in with the cannon that shoots you out :p Like Murloc bowling ;)

I have a feeling that after you read what you get from those mini-games you MAY reconsider....
"That's not all! We have adorable companion pets includin' a fez-wearing monkey, a plethora of profession recipes, toys, balloons, souvenirs, delectable carnival snacks and beverages, heirlooms for the little ones, and even replicas of long-lost suits of armor that we're offering for your Transmogrification needs..."
No need to hit that old raid content after all...!

Dancing Bear mount.
Ghostcrawler, for that, you are officially off the hook for getting me a moose mount.

Dancing Bear + Monkey with Fez= Win!!

Not to be a buzzkill, but Matthew Rossi brought up the issue of what goes into making bears dance on Twitter. It isn't pretty.

P.S. DO NOT Google "dancing bears" from a work computer. Just trust me on this.
Shinae Aug 26th 2011 10:26AM
Well, this wouldn't be the first time our characters do/support bad things.
Besides, the dancing bears in Azeroth are probably only druids who willingly dance.
Noyou Aug 26th 2011 1:26PM
As long as no one is asking US to do unspeakable things to bears I don't think we should bring RL drama into the game. Especially since Azeroth is a world filled with magics. The reason many of us play WoW is to get as far away from real life atrocities and injustices as we can.
MattKrotzer Aug 26th 2011 8:09AM
Until I see pictures of the monkey with a fez, I'm withholding my excitement.
wow Aug 26th 2011 8:17AM
This /\
Fez's are cool.
Shinanji
MattKrotzer Aug 26th 2011 8:18AM
So are monkeys.
Chromebus Aug 26th 2011 9:09AM
Fez's are cooler than monkeys though.
MattKrotzer Aug 26th 2011 9:21AM
Nothing is cooler than monkeys.
Sorry.
Prelimar Aug 26th 2011 9:40AM
here to side with the fezzes (and the Doctor) on this one.
Phaelan Aug 26th 2011 9:47AM
Yes, The Doctor is right, Fez's ARE Cool :D
Murdertime Aug 26th 2011 10:29AM
Goddamn Doctor Who ruined Fez's for good and decent Fez wearers.
You know who used to get to wear Fez's? Chaps, Shriners, mischevious
monkeys and 19th century members of the military of the Ottoman empire
Now every Nerd is wearing the damn things with great amusement and
they haven't even earnt the right. They have neither lived through the
decline of the Turkish Empire, smoked opium and called for the house
boy to comb their hair nor driven a tiny car in support of a childrens
hospital after banging a hooker. Instead they have mistaken wacky for
funny and thusly should be flogged.
Didax Aug 26th 2011 10:38AM
Guys! Guys! Fez Hats? Monkeys? Why all the fighting?
We don't have to choose! We get both!
