The Daily Quest: You look strangely familiar
WoW Insider's on a Daily Quest to bring you interesting, informative, and entertaining WoW-related links from around the blogosphere.
Deep down inside, I always wished that the Evil Twin debuff actually did something. I'm not sure what it would do, though, other than cause undue amounts of chaos if it actually did something nasty like switch my hotkeys around or some other nonsense. Perhaps simply giving my character the evil twin goatee à la Spock in Mirror Mirror would be suitably entertaining.
Look-alikes! They're everywhere, and today we've got a blog post on where to find some leather look-alikes -- goatee not included -- as well as some amazing staves and a double take at an unassuming NPC who could be something more ...

- Revive and Rejuvenate has a list of leather sets that mimic the look of tier -- including the now-unobtainable Dungeon Set 1.
- A Sunnier Bear has gone and collected a massive list of cool-looking staves and polearms ripe for transmogrification.
- Orcish Army Knife looks at the mysterious NPC Dominic and wonders exactly what that Forsaken is up to.

Well, as stated in the Wowhead comments, when you had the Evil Twin debuff, you can not be summoned by a Warlock.
Which, when you think of it, is the strangest side effect ever.

Honestly i think if you're a draenei you should have your skin recoloured to red when given this debuff. I dunno about the other races.

You should grow a goatee, of course.
Yes, even the women.

Anne's Evil Twin would write one hell of a Tin Foil Hat Column

I'd like to pimp the new blog of my guildie and fellow WoW Insider reader, HappyTreeDance:

She's great at both writing about her WoW experiences and making cool graphics for her blog. Check it out and leave her feedback!

I just clicked over to WoW Insider to see this at the top. Stories about unobtainable tier sets under the heading "You look strangely familiar."
You know, it's a small ****ing world sometimes, and to illustrate this, I'd like to tell the story about where I clicked over FROM. This all just happened minutes ago, and I hope this retelling will be worth it to anyone who takes the time to read it:
I very, very rarely look much at the official WoW forums. I have a grand total of 42 posts on them. When I do look at them, I generally do so through blue trackers, checking only the important info.
Today, however, has been weird. I've been strangely intrigued by Netheara's Happy Friday post ( http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3082079542 ) and have been refreshing it all day, looking at little bits and pieces of things people say. Of all those posts, I happened to notice one in particular. Someone was discussing how proud they were of their tier 3 set, and expressing a hope that it wouldn't become available for purchase.
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/3082079542?page=26#518
I have no idea why -- because this is super out-of-character for me -- but I clicked this person's profile to see if they were wearing the tier set so I could see what it looked like. When I got there, I spent some time hovering over their gear, checking it out. Eventually, I decided to check out their other stats like raid boss kills and arena rating (again, things I normally couldn't care less about and wouldn't look at).
It was then that I noticed something "strangely familiar." The arena team was named "We lose because of Jil." Curious, I moused over the team members' icons until I got to the ret pally, who's name was Jilara, from Perenolde.
Amazed at what seemed to be an incredible coincidence, I double checked by googling something I remembered seeing once: http://wow.joystiq.com/2009/11/02/world-of-warcrafts-custom-arthas-figure/
This page confirmed what I had suspected...that I had randomly stumbled upon -- in the most unusual and seemingly unlikely fashion -- RetPallyJil's armory.
I know this is a long story, and it's completely off-topic, but I dunno...had to share it somewhere. It's the little things like this that keep me constantly amazed at the world.
tldr: Life is weird, man...

Jeeze, and I just realized that guy has even less posts than me. He hadn't posted on the forums in damn near 3 months before this one random post. The odds here just boggle my mind.

That's incredible! Crazy how stuff like that happens o_o
Al Aug 26th 2011 6:01PM
I'm triply amazed. First at the story, then the odds. Then I realised how bored you would have been.

Only fooling. That is pretty amazing.

Was just telling the wife not 2 hours before I read this that it seems our server is full of lames because WoWInsider never seems to feature anyone from Perenolde.
Al Aug 26th 2011 5:52PM
So all the male Draenei have really been evil since the goatee bug?
I'm kind of wary of my own Hunter now.

Regarding OrcishArmyKnife's article, I'm pretty sure the Corrupted Ashbringer in-game scene was retconned quite a long time ago, especially since Fairbanks said that Darion could be found in the Outlands (which was never true).
Al Aug 26th 2011 7:39PM
He never gave his name though, just "find the other Mograine, in the remains of Outland".
But yeah, they ignored that and Darion just shows up in Acherus.

For Your Consideration:
Be Healed considers "Why Catacylsm Couldn't Top The Lich King"
Blizzard tried to up the ante on Arthas, but Deathwing wasn't the villain for the job. And really, does the world always have to be in imminent peril?

So glad that Orcish Army got up there. What a brilliant bit of speculation? Sparked my imagination right off!
Also, I've gone and formed something quite different. Not something I have seen before anyway

For the new film "The Hunt" (WoW Machinma), I have watched and written a full review, with images and sections from the feature length movie.
