The Queue: Adam Jensen is easily offended
I've been playing a lot of Deus Ex: Human Revolution lately, and I like it quite a bit, but I think I play Adam Jensen as a little more easygoing than in the video above. Be sure to check out all of the videos in that series.
Vaenor asked:
With only one patch left in Cataclysm, it seems like a lot of plot points need to be addressed. For example, what's going to happen with the tension between Garrosh and Sylvannas? If this isn't taken care of by the end of the expansion, are we going to assume that we don't get Thrall back when this is all over?
While Blizzard has a habit of introducing and instantly wrapping up plot lines, it doesn't necessarily mean that this particular story will wrap up in Cataclysm. After all, Garrosh was introduced in The Burning Crusade. We'll definitely see more political and social changes within both factions in the next expansion, but there's no guarantee that Thrall will be back as Warchief as of 4.3.
jfofla asked:
Are there any websites that let you model old gear on your character?
Not on your particular character, but Wowhead lets you view any item on the race/gender of your choice.
AdamAldaine asked:
Blizzard allows us to hide Helms and Cloaks. I've always assumed this is because some of them are butt-ugly, but is there a game-play reason for this, and for why those two things were specifically chosen instead of slots for other things, such as the hideous Champion Herrod's Shoulder?
Helms are able to be hidden because some people are more attached to their character's face than to the helmet that covers it. Cloaks obscure the back of the body, so they're also able to be hidden.
Theduck asked:
What enchant effect, if any, will be shown on a mogged item? The equipped item's enchant? The mogged item's enchant? In the case of a void storage item, no enchant at all? I've looked all over but haven't seen any information on this, anyone have any idea?
To use an example: Let's say you have two daggers. One of them is the Scaleslicer, which has a sort of fire effect on it, and is enchanted with Landslide. The other is a Core Hound Tooth, unenchanted.
If you transmogrify the Core Hound Tooth to look like your Scaleslicer, the equipped dagger will have the Landslide visual and the fiery particle effect. If you reverse it and make the Scaleslicer look like the Core Hound Tooth, the Landslide visual effect will persist, but the fiery particle effect will not.
EDIT: Apparently this answer is wrong and no effects from the template weapon will appear on the equipped weapon. Sorry for the confusion!
Surgeon asked:
What exactly is the purpose of "You have entered too many instances lately?" 'Cause I gotta say it's really annoying to get to that point when you're trying to farm for gear for Transmogrifying.
It's intended to reduce stress on the instance servers, but, long ago, it also served to prevent botters and hackers from chain-farming chests in instances.
Scott asked:
Why (oh, why) isn't Furrier Schnottz the final raid boss of Cataclysm?
Because Schnottz, like nearly the entirety of Uldum, is a lazy reference that actively detracts from the quality of the game it's now unfortunately a permanent part of.

I didn't mind the quests themselves. The main issue for me was the ceaseless cutscenes. It probably tripled my time spent in Uldum.
hicks Aug 26th 2011 11:42AM
Yes! Gather three things, cutscene. Talk to this NPC, cutscene. Fly to this place, cutscene. Then we have t--cutscene. Cutscen--cutscene. It got old, I avoided it on my alts.
Draelan Aug 26th 2011 1:12PM
The cutscenes were buggy, too. That cutscene in the lost city with the prince of the Ramkahen where you and Bud's gang escape? My first time there, the only thing I saw was the back of my pet's head! Seriously! I wound up abandoning the quest, flying ALL the way back, and doing it again with my pet dismissed simply because I had no idea what happened! (Which put a negative spin on one of the more amusing cutscenes in the game.) I've also had it wig out on the Ramkahen council meeting where my camera just lists to the side and stares at a wall for the duration.
Not that it really matters, I suppose. If I'm playing through Uldum on an alt for gear, I just minimize the game and play Minesweeper or something during cutscenes.
There is one exception, though... If you're playing a druid, and you're at the beginning of the Harrison Jones questline, do yourself a favor and turn in the quests in bear form. Specifically the quest where you and Harrison hide in some chests and get launched by all the exploding dynamite. *Harrison Jones hides in chest* *Bear druid hides front half in chest, with butt hanging out* That has to be one of the few points I actively lol'd my second time through.

I never pay that much attention to lore. I spent too much time imersed in Tolkien Lore and that makes WoW lore look pale in comparison. Just tell me what to kill, how many and where they are.
But, I love cutscenes. The more the merrier.
Bellajtok Aug 26th 2011 1:57PM
I discovered on my Druid that I can do cutscenes whilst shapshifted. This has led to much merriment, and I've sought out every cutscene I can find, and spend a very long time debating which form is funniest. (moonkin wins most of them so far, followed by bear.)

Just a shame you couldn't have used water...thing.
Amaxe Aug 26th 2011 9:11PM
Yes. Blizz please:
NO MORE CUTSCENES YOU CAN'T ESC OUT OF!!!
Lowlight Aug 26th 2011 11:23AM
I liked Uldum and the IJ reference. I thought the jokes were mildly amusing, and the quests were way better than, say "Gather these rocks from these rock men that you must kill and then give them to me, a rock man also" which was the norm for most of Deepholm. On my alts I usually just skip DH if I can and go straight to Uldum.
Some people just get all hurt butt when there's any sort of reference to the Nazis. Marvel caved several years ago and removed all reference to the Red Skull in the Captain America books as being a Nazi because parents didn't want to be bothered with explaining Nazism to their children (I'm not sure if they - Marvel - have since reversed their stance on this.) Bottom line though, Nazis make great bad guys in almost any media. See what happened to the 4th Indiana Jones movie when they removed them? I rest my case.
Oreet Aug 26th 2011 11:33AM
Sort of off-topic and on-topic at the same time, but Marvel is doing this interesting 5-part miniseries right now on Red Skull. It's basically an origin story of him. It deals with him as an orphan German boy in Post-WW1 Germany when Communism and Nazism are vying for control of the nation.
hicks Aug 26th 2011 11:40AM
Its worth noting that Crystal Skull did take place in the 1950s, when Nazis were less common than in the late 30s/early 40s the other three movies took place in.
Regardless of the decade or the baddies, it's always worth pointing out how amazingly bad that movie was. I had to watch it over two days because I just couldn't cope with all the awfulness at once.
Daniel Whitcomb Aug 26th 2011 11:47AM
I'm not sure how Uldum is much better. "Collect Nine Idols, because Nine sounds like the German word for "No," hahahahaha. Also we are going to use them to resurrect a Turkey called Gobbles. Cuz the Nazis had a guy whose name sounded like Gobbles. Who killed a LOT of Jews, but uh. Whatever. HIS NAME IS FUNNY GUYS. Also, get me a Desert Fox. Because there was a Nazi General called the Desert Fox. That was his nickname. Isn't that clever? Heh. Now, watch this long in-game cutscene that isn't particularly clever or dynamic."
Deepholm at least had a somewhat original story that didn't insult my intelligence.
MattKrotzer Aug 26th 2011 11:54AM
It's also worth noting that Crystal Skull taught kids 2 really dumb things:
1. It's clever to hide in refrigerators (does nobody remember the GI Joe 'knowing is half the battle' about this?)
2. Refrigerators will let you survive a nuclear blast and not turn you to paste when they crash back to earth.
Vrykerion Aug 26th 2011 12:53PM
Just like how inflatable rafts can prevent you from being smashed into a mountain side. Or blowing up a tank by shoving a rock in the barrel.
Too bad the fourth movie ruined what was, up to that point, a very realistic film series.
icepyro Aug 26th 2011 2:35PM
Not just any ol' fridge though. It was lead lined. Because lead stops radiation. Or something.
Of course, it was such a small detail that was completely overshadowed by the fact he got in a fridge to survive a nuclear blast.
There's a reason "nuking the fridge" more or less took over the meme "jumping the shark", and it still floors me that Blizzard kept the reference in game.
kaminari Aug 26th 2011 2:57PM
hide and cover... in a fridge!!
Amaxe Aug 26th 2011 9:22PM
To be honest, the whole "Shnottze" and "Fashionism" struck me as being in dubious taste. To turn a cruel ideology within living memory into a parody in the manner they used was going to offend someone. I'm sure Blizz wasn't intending to offend, but my thinking is this:
A one-off throw away line about WW2 is ok. Making continual references to it becomes annoying at the least (Gobbles, the Desert Fox, Fashionism, the attempt to assassinate Shnottze [borrowed from the attempted assassination of Hitler etc).
As for those who had family members suffer under the Nazis, it becomes rather tasteless and insensitive to trivialize it into stupid puns.
Perhaps the WoW crew in Blizz should say, "Let us never mention it again" concerning Harrison Jones.
Cbeefman Aug 26th 2011 11:33AM
I kinda liked the whole Harrison Jones stuff in Uldum. It did drag out longer than it should but overall it was a nice enough break from the seriousness of Cataclysm while still providing a small amount of lore (we did after all, learn more about the Titans and they're crazy ways)
I would have preferred more Cat people stuff though, right now the Ramkahen quests make up about 1/3 of the zone and the rest is Harrison, THAT I dont like.
Twowolves Aug 26th 2011 11:30AM
Has it been stated the transmog will only work on green+ gear? There are some nice gray sets I wouldn't mind using.
Amanda A. Aug 26th 2011 11:39AM
Yes. Specifically, the item needs to have a stat other than armor on it. So you could use Blackened Defias if you have it, but not the gray set with the same model. The rule seems to be aimed more at the white gear (no werewolves in top hats for you, Mr. 85!) and might be changed later.
Ata Aug 26th 2011 1:11PM
So far, yeah, items have to have stats to be transmogged. They might eventually allow it, but at the start, no white or grey items, likely to prevent starter items being used by max leveled characters.
