"Because Schnottz, like nearly the entirety of Uldum, is a lazy reference that actively detracts from the quality of the game it's now unfortunately a permanent part of."Excuse me but the Indiana Jones references made it bearable to even get to 85.

I feel like I say this a lot around here...Different people like different stuff.

I made it to 85 on 5 toons so far with out going to Uldum.I have gone back each tiem to complete all the quest for each zone for the gold and I have to agree that Uldum is very annoying to play through!

Uldum is my favorite Cataclysm zone mostly because of all the Indiana Jones references. I don't really care about the cat people there. But yeah, different people like different things and I am totally cool with that.

To each their own. :)Personally I hated Uldum and the Indiana Jones references. And I say this as someone who loves Indiana Jones and who has had a crush on Harrison Ford since she saw him in Star Wars when she was just a little kid. I didn't mind the Harrison Jones stuff when it was a tiny part of the game, like a quest here or there. But having more than half of Uldum dedicated to him? No thanks. Especially when the actual lore of the zone could have been so good! The Titan stuff has always interested me. This is why I liked zones like Storm Peaks in Wrath, and why Ulduar is one of my favorite raids. And the Ramkahen and Al'Akir are interesting to me too. I just think it's a pity that all of the stuff that actually progresses the storyline of WoW got overshadowed by one long (long, long, long) pop culture reference. In moderation, those references are fine. For me in Uldum, they overdid it by a lot.

I'd happily do Uldum 100 times in a pink sundress and 50% nerf to my run/mount speed with a painful blister on my mouse hand, than ever go to Vash again. But, Different things like different people. Or something.
@Whitfield: I'm with you man. Personally, I'm a HUGE Indy fan and loved every last side reference to the Indy universe. I rofled throughout the entire zone.
8-26-2011 @ 11:27AM
I don't know what you people have against Indiana Jones. Sure, we all agree they shouldn't have pulled a Rocky and tried to milk a dead cow by tacking on his own "I'm too old for this stuff" movie years after the fact. But still. I mean, c'mon. He's Indy.Dun-da-dun-DUNNNNNNNNNNNNN!
8-26-2011 @ 11:33AM
And yeah, I like Uldum, and yeah, I dig the cat people and really hope I get to roll one someday. And let's face it... no one can hold a candle to Vashj'ir in the zones-people-can't-freakin-stand department.
8-26-2011 @ 11:37AM
I LOVED the Harrison Jones quests and cut scenes.
8-26-2011 @ 11:38AM
I'm not really sure there could've been much lore about the Ramkahen. Their whole story is that they've been minding their own business for the last tens or hundreds of millennia, and only now have to deal with problems because the Cataclysm cracked their cloaker. Blizzard probably could've brought some Alliance vs. Horde stuff into it, but that's about all.I wonder if part of the problem is that the five zones are under heavy expectations because...well, there's just five of them, two of which share the same level range.
8-26-2011 @ 11:43AM
Happy Tree Dance nailed it. There's just so much more they could have done. Hell, they even seemed to sort of kind of realize their mistake and switched to Brann Bronzebeard for HoO. That whole part of Uldum could have been a great extension of the Reliquary/Explorer's League rivalry they built up in the leveling zones, but instead we got a half-assed uncomfortably racist recreation of an outside IP. I love Indiana Jones. Harrison Jones is not Indiana Jones. Goblin Hitler is... ugh.For my own part, I think Uldum actively harmed WoW's lore integrity. I did the Indiana Jones side of that zone on exactly one character, and as far as I'm concerned, that's all I'll ever do. I just hope Blizzard never does something like that again, even as I fear they will.
8-26-2011 @ 11:44AM
My only complaint is the Uldum cutscenes, which seem so prevalent that it makes me think they said "We need Uldum to provide X number of hours of playtime," and so the quest team decided to fill most of it with narrative scenes, rather than interesting quests. Without the cutscenes, the amount of time spent in Uldum has to be nearly halved.
8-26-2011 @ 11:51AM
Really, my only issue with Uldum was the fact that we actually end up killing slaves who decide they're sick of working for Nazis. It's like we're the worst ****ing undercover agents ever. It's hard to feel like we're actively subverting Shnottz when we end up doing some evil things for him before taking him down.
8-26-2011 @ 11:53AM
We're playing a game where we can be a cow or a dog or blue hooved Romanian. Where there's an entire society that lives in a tree. Where I can pull back my bowstring and hit 20 targets at once with perfect accuracy. Where we can stab people with a fish if we like. And we're 6, almost 7 years into it.Let's not go getting all "lore integrity" now.
8-26-2011 @ 11:55AM
If you cut all the jokes and pop culture references out of the Warcraft franchise, you're going to be left with a much thinner (and much more humorless) franchise.Plus, anyone who doesn't love Indiana Jones will get their face melted by the Arc of the Covenant. Just sayin'.
8-26-2011 @ 11:59AM
@MattYes, different people like different stuff, but the different stuff I like is objectively better than the different stuff other people like.

I enjoyed Uldum a lot. Not because of the Indiana Jones referances, dispite the fact that they were kind of entertaining, but because the zone had a very good flow to it. Just like Stonetalon Mountain and the Goblin starting zone I had a very engaging and solid adventure throughout the entire zone. I didnt feel like i was just doing a whole bunch of meaningless tasks over and over just in different spots in the zone.
8-26-2011 @ 12:09PM
I realized just how bad the Uldum thing was when I read a WoW and *@&$ing MY LITTLE PONY fanfic that gave the zone better lore.
I am compelledto say, after reading a bunch of innacurate replys (replies? I always get that mixed up), Indy was the dog's name!
