Breakfast Topic: Listening to music while playing WoW
Here are four ways that I incorporate music to my play:
Leveling Undead I found that listening to The Nightmare Before Christmas soundtrack was a hilarious addition to leveling an Undead character. The lyrics, "This is Halloween, Halloween, Halloween!" added magic to spotting skeletal fish in a lake.
Leveling Draenei/Night Elf The Lord of the Rings soundtrack or Pirates of the Caribbean or Beats Antique are epic songs for these races, no matter where you are in Azeroth. Epic!
Dungeon DPS/warrior Black Sabbath or any heavy metal! Keeps me awake between pulls. Also, techno music works.
Dungeon healing Pink Floyd keeps me calm, cool, and relaxed. Plus, I don't feel the irresistible urge to jump around as I do when listening to heavy metal.
There you have it! What I like to listen to when I play. What do you like to listen to?

I'm an old soul kind of warlock; that is, I have an old, possibly stolen soul, and I find that listening to blues/soul is the best choice whenever I'm lighting folks on fire. Blind Willie Johnson's "The Soul of a Man" is always good for a sing-along when I'm tab-target immolating.

I rarely listen to WoWs music, I should toggle it on more often. I substitue it with my own tunes though, variety of things. Example: Flobots - Handlebars for rep grind!

Coheed and Cambria, at all times. It's the only band that has an epic storyline behind it's music, and in any situation, whether healing, tanking, dps'ing, or destroying in battlegrounds it suits to the mood. Claudio writes his lyrics so well, and it gives me that extra "oomph" I need to get that KB

Only? Epic story? Perhaps you've never heard of this band called Pink Floyd. You should check them out, they're a little tough to find what with being obscure, but many of their lyrics focus a lot on a rarely noted but actually quite epic event called World War 2.
Or maybe Pain Of Salvation, an album about the consciousness of a planet might quality as epic.
Ziltoid The Omniscient is an intergalactic space opera.
What was that double album about an alien invasion, a sort of war of the worlds? OH THAT'S RIGHT, War of the Worlds:The Musical, I do believe it predates the birth of most of C&C's members.
C&C are not doing anything new or distinct with their writing, and the music sounds like Led Zepplin Jr couldn't figure out how to play their instruments.

Somebody is MAD! If you look at PF's music vs. CoCa's, you'll realize (well, literary inclined listeners) that the entire storyline through all their music is composed of a Sci-Fi storyline. No, PF did not do this, although I give the utmost respect to them and regularly listen to their music. So unbunch your panties, we're talking apples and oranges. CoCa is far above any music put out today and just because you are incapable of understanding anything above simple chords and the typical pentatonic riff doesn't mean they're crap: it means you fail to understand good music. Fail to you sir, fail.

I have to play something during boss fights. I'm too used to having epic music and in WoW it's basically the same music. Bosses don't feel so epic, so I put in something, usually boss battle music from other games.
Personally I love Jade Valerie. Listened to all her songs when I started playing , so it's a bit nostalgic. "We Can Run" is probably the song that brings back the most memories of WoW for me.

And for some reason, Miss A's Bad Girl, Good Girl reminds me of WoW 0.O

Do I have odd music choice for a game like WoW?

I just love listening to Amon Amarth in Northrend, especially for the Utgarde dungeons. Viking metal brings it all together.

In instances/raids I listen to audio queues given by the default game sound. Never been a fan of always having to rez player X because they don't move out of poop circles or miss a critical mechanic, then when they queue their mic in vent I hear music blasting in the background. When leveling/questing I listen to KROQ streaming online. Makes gathering a bit less tedious.

If I'm on the computer I'm listening to music or a podcast. I'll stream the radio or Pandora unless the bandwidth is being taxed too much for some reason (usually parents watching Netflix... I hate Netflix) then I'll start my iTunes playlist. All that I listen to is christian rock/contemporary christian. Examples would include Skillet, Pillar, Disciple, and older Kutless. Currently listening to Way.FM (URL= way.fm) which is playing Shadows by David Crowder Band Ft. Lacrae... okay song but not great.

Only time music/podcast isn't on is when I'm raiding. I rarely can raid though so music is almost ALWAYS playing. Current song: This is a Call by Thousand Foot Krutch

Howling Fjord or Grizzly Hills music on a loop.
What?

I'm not surprised by how awful and generic almost all of the responses here are.

I've found out that anything by Juno Reactor goes extremely well with anything, whether it's raiding, questing or grinding.
Electric Wizard is good too, especially for doing evil things - all the warlocky and undeady stuff. I fucking love that band.
For PvP, I've noted that quite anything goes - from ambient through psytrance to black metal.
I get new music very often so I tend to listen through all that when playing WoW. That is how I find the (un)appropriate music for every situation!
When a new expansion comes out, I listen to the default WoW music on my first leveling run. The musicians at Blizzard have always done an excellent job with painting the zones with great tunes.
Sometimes certain areas just ask for a certain song or a bunch of songs to be played (when I am feeding my altoholism). For example, "With My Mind" by Kingston Wall goes perfectly with Grizzly Hills - so does "Papillon" by Union Jack as well.
Moonsorrow's discography is the only true choice for anything related with Vrykul.
People have always asked about my music taste (mostly based on the machinimas I made), so I made two different Spotify playlists:
electronic - http://open.spotify.com/user/baronsoosdon/playlist/1sgqamGU235mPUq8csYZWn
metal + rock - http://open.spotify.com/user/baronsoosdon/playlist/7C4O2UvnncrT99zJrwqpCU

I have a keybound macro that I press every now and then to play Bronjahm's theme from the Forge of Souls.

I'm with Revnah on the disturbed, one of my favorite dungeoning/raiding options... However I have a far more criminal confession to make...
Enya when I'm healing.... oh god shoot me now....

I know that when I'm traveling through Azeroth, well in the not depressing places, I like to listen to songs along the sames as "Soul Sister" by Train, "live like were dyin' " By Kris Allen, and "Im yours" by Jason MRaz, not so much for the lyrics, but for the upbeat, laidback beat, and the flow of the music. Makes you enjoy the travel, forget the distance, and if you do something interesting, makes the experience that more memorable.
When im DPS'ing in Dungeons, I like fast pop, techno, and rock, nothing to heavy
