Patch 4.3: Worgen racial mounts

Players were torn over Running Wild, mostly because each mount collected counts toward the achievement Mountain o' Mounts, which rewards a Red or Blue Dragonhawk to fly around on. Many Alliance players were upset over the fact that Horde players had an easier time collecting 100 mounts because of the Goblins' trikes. Horses make sense for Worgen, as Worgen are still essentially a Human nation, and Humans in Warcraft ride horses. These two particular mounts seem a bit plain, though. These new mounts are coming in most likely to ease the disparity between mounts when faction changes occur. All in all, this is good news for Alliance mount collectors.
We're not going to make it very far without transportation, are we? If we just hightail it out of here, the forsaken will catch up to us in no time at all.
Rounding up some horses from the stable grounds southeast of here would normally be a breeze, but there's one snag. That last quake must've spooked Koroth, the ettin, down from the mountains. If we don't get our horses soon, I fear that he will.
In patch 4.3, we'll be introducing worgen racial mounts to the stables of Azeroth. These sleek horses have been constant companions for the denizens of Gilneas since time immemorial, and your worgen characters will now be able to claim their ancestral mounts.

We hope you'll visit the new worgen racial mount vendor to pick out a steed to call your own.

Unarmored horse... they could be a little more original?

I call these the "There, you Alliance players now have two more mounts to collect like the Horde got with Goblins, now shut up," set.
ZodiacDragons Sep 1st 2011 12:46PM
Wow I cant believe all the negative comments about this. Blizzard isn't giving Worgen mounts. They are giving 2 extra mounts two the alliance for the amount of QQ that has been going on about how horde has 2 extra mounts that they can get. Pretty sure Worgen are still going to have Running Wild after the mounts come in.
Donhorn Sep 1st 2011 12:52PM
I'm still gonna complain about my Tauren's plainsrunning. They need to bring that back too... for" balance". >XD
Mattqnl Sep 1st 2011 12:55PM
If we're getting horses at least have the horses infected with the worgen curse or something.
Cephas Sep 1st 2011 1:07PM
A horse infected with the worgen curse? What does that even mean? Does it turn into a worgen? So the humans and gnomes etc. can all ride on a worgen? And a worgen riding a worgen? Sorry, I just don't get it.
Kurash Sep 1st 2011 1:08PM
"Blizzard isn't giving Worgen mounts."
...
"In patch 4.3, we'll be introducing worgen racial mounts to the stables of Azeroth."
I think you might not have read that part. I understand you mean that they're offering a balance of numbers, but I think you probably could have stated it better.
SR Sep 1st 2011 1:08PM
Those won't be horses, Mattqnl. Those will be Worgen Druids in horse form.
loop_not_defined Sep 1st 2011 1:09PM
The Worgen "special awesome thing" is still Running Wild. This is just to correct balance issues.
I don't get why they thought this was worthy of a "preview" article, though.

Man, if I knew that QQ'ing would get things done, I would have been doing that about all the bugs that are in the game. But that's OK, because the Alliance now has two new mounts that look bland. That's definitely more important than fixing even a fraction of the bugs that are still in place since Cataclysm.
(Still can't get anywhere close to Bloodsail Admiral without a 10 man raid group.)
Velina Sep 1st 2011 1:42PM
Don't worry, I have a feeling making two mount spells doesn't take a hell of a lot of work, especially when the models are already in game.

They should give worgen a little car so they could put their head out the window
Noyou Sep 1st 2011 2:16PM
"...Could they be more original?"
1. As a budding mount collector I could give 2 [sheeps] flying frogs, flying troggs, fricken put a saddle on some silly puddy, I don't care. It's 2 numbers at this point.
2. for all those poor souls who have worgen and have to grind out rep from another faction to get a mount ( I did this on mine before I deleted it) it's a happy day.
I do find it funny how when Blizzard goes back on something they say they were not doing they have to trivialize it like it's no big deal. Just make the move. Stop blowing smoke up our collective arses. It's fricken childish. /done
Daedalus Sep 1st 2011 2:33PM
Yes, they could have been more original, if we didn't get running wild.
That was the trade-off; worgen didn't get mounts, but they did get the ability to run like a wolf (something that pretty much came out of alpha and beta testers suggesting it; in other words, directly at the behest of players...)
So, these are plain, just to keep numbers the same. Goblins don't get trikes AND some other cool mount-type thing, they just get the trikes. (In fact, Goblins are at even more of a disadvantage, as most races have 6 mounts, while they only have 2.)
All this complaining is simply further proof that Blizzard could send each and every player a real-life wish-granting flying unicorn carrying a solid gold plate of chocolate chip cookies wrapped in hundred dollar bills, and someone would whine that Blizzard sucks for not letting them choose oatmeal raisin.
Leviathon Sep 1st 2011 2:36PM
They've even unstickied the forum topic. Apparently they somehow thought this would be well received.
Daedalus Sep 1st 2011 2:47PM
@Leviathon:
Yeah, how stupid of them to think that adding two easily obtained mounts to balance out the numbers would be well recieved; why on earth should players be happy about an unexpected addition to the game that literally has no downside?
You think they would have learned by now...
GuyverIV Sep 1st 2011 2:53PM
@Dawn
"They should give worgen a little car so they could put their head out the window"
This was so awesome it MUST be repeated.
Plus it reminded me to not eat while reading comments.
Leviathon Sep 1st 2011 2:53PM
It's fine to add 2 extra mounts. The stupid thing is that they announce it and put it on the blog like it's a big deal when it shouldn't of been anything more than one small line in the patch notes.
ArtDecoAutomaton Sep 1st 2011 5:33PM
The originality is the additional Running Wild.
Noyou Sep 1st 2011 3:16PM
@Daed
Yes, the players in alpha/beta. Which is what? 10% of the player base? The ones pitching the most fuss I would assume are mount collectors. As for running like a wolf? Wolves have totally different legs. They should have just given them a wolf travel form. Of course then shaman would QQ "Running wild" is more like a humanoid running on all fours. It was a nice concept. I wasn't around for Tauren Plainsrunning. If it looked like running wild than it was just as silly.
