Patch 4.3: Worgen racial mounts

Players were torn over Running Wild, mostly because each mount collected counts toward the achievement Mountain o' Mounts, which rewards a Red or Blue Dragonhawk to fly around on. Many Alliance players were upset over the fact that Horde players had an easier time collecting 100 mounts because of the Goblins' trikes. Horses make sense for Worgen, as Worgen are still essentially a Human nation, and Humans in Warcraft ride horses. These two particular mounts seem a bit plain, though. These new mounts are coming in most likely to ease the disparity between mounts when faction changes occur. All in all, this is good news for Alliance mount collectors.
Patch 4.3: Worgen racial mounts
We're not going to make it very far without transportation, are we? If we just hightail it out of here, the forsaken will catch up to us in no time at all.
Rounding up some horses from the stable grounds southeast of here would normally be a breeze, but there's one snag. That last quake must've spooked Koroth, the ettin, down from the mountains. If we don't get our horses soon, I fear that he will.
In patch 4.3, we'll be introducing worgen racial mounts to the stables of Azeroth. These sleek horses have been constant companions for the denizens of Gilneas since time immemorial, and your worgen characters will now be able to claim their ancestral mounts.

We hope you'll visit the new worgen racial mount vendor to pick out a steed to call your own.

I like the idea of having two more mounts, but is anyone thinking about the horses? I mean what is the horse thinking while carrying a werewolf on it's back? "please don't eat me! please don't eat me!". It is like a draeni paladin and his horse... come on! give worgens a better looking mount... or at least put a sattle on it.

And the pig mounts worgen had in the concept art would have felt safer? If they'd implemented those, I can only hope that the "special" sound when standing still would have been the pig muttering "I knew I should have used bricks..."

They should give worgen a little car so they could put their head out the window
ramireza7 Sep 1st 2011 2:06PM
what about a horse-drawn cart instead?

And right now, Blizz is thinking, "Gee, you try to do something nice for people and this is how they respond. This is why we can't have nice things."
Listen. They're only adding these mounts to even the numbers. You're not supposed to actually use them. I have 130 mounts. Do you think I use every single one of them? I use two of my ground mounts and three flying ones (and Sea Turtle if I happen to need to swim for any distance). I'd trade my stupid, ugly Goblin trikes, and hell, all of my ugly skeletal horses to be able to use something cool like Running Wild. (I second the proposal for bringing in a fixed Plainsrunning.)
The point is, they're giving you a gift. Don't be whiney jerks. After all, you never look a gift horse in the mouth.

And you make it all better by - bitching about people who are bitching.
Ullaana Sep 1st 2011 2:49PM
Actually, jfofla is only stating a fact to point out the... hmm..irony..no wait.. how ludicrous the complaints are.. maybe that people will whine about anything because they are so entitled...okay, all of that.
Al Sep 1st 2011 3:22PM
Once again you seem to be expecting a consensus from 11+ million people.
Has it occured to you, it's not the same people complaining?
Amaxe Sep 1st 2011 7:35PM
You realize of course it's not having mounts that we object to. It's the half-assed way they're doing it. Every other race has a distinctive mount. Worgens don't.
I hope they at least make some changes to make it distinctive

Wow, they aren't even interesting skins?
They just took the saddle off of the basic ones.
Amazing.
Suggestion: De-armor the blueish-gray skin of the "Stormwind Steed" model or the "Swift Gray Steed" ... something like that? Those are two colors that appear to be nice, but are buried under armor. The two colors they chose are ones we can already see just fine on the lvl 20 human mount models.
I r not rokkitt scientist, but itz nawt harddd.

I hope this is a joke.

blizz had no intention of giving alliance a gilnean faction mount. because they already have running wild. an extra mount is superfluous. but alliance players cried foul, as well they should. so blizz caved and put one in. the most boring thing they could put in game. make no mistake this is blizz's way of giving mount/achievement collector's what was owed them while at the same time giving them the finger.
Matthew Sep 1st 2011 3:56PM
I 100% agree. And I like it.
lordtrollingsworth Sep 1st 2011 3:07PM
OH NO, THEY HAD A ONE OR TWO MOUNT ADVANTAGE! The amount of whining over game "fairness" is embarrassing to and from both sides.
redwinger_6 Sep 1st 2011 3:34PM
Good, I hate the stupid running on all 4s thing. They way they move they look more like furry deranged frogs hopping along than anything else, and in the right armor they look a lot like the flying monkeys from Wizard of Oz.
Philster043 Sep 1st 2011 3:48PM
I have to admit that on my Worgen, I got exalted with the Humans and bought a horse of theirs just to avoid the Running Wild ability. It does kind of look dumb, especially on a cloth-wearing shadow priest.
It's too bad, the concept itself is cool... but sometimes what you imagined isn't exactly what you get in the end.
Luckily it's now optional.
Philster043 Sep 1st 2011 3:45PM
To all the people who are QQing - if you hate the horses so much, don't buy them. (I bet you will.)
Admittedly it doesn't look much in the way of creativity on Blizzard's part but it does fit the Gilnean lore, and there might be some additional "epic" mounts later on added (such as the Argent Tournament possibly getting Gilnean and Goblin quartermasters as well).
Except for Goblins, all the other races have had "mundane-looking" mounts as their starting mounts that they then started playing around with more later in the game. And if we ever get a Goblin mount like the one we temporarily had in their starting zone, it will make their 2 faction mounts look pretty old-fashioned, too.
Amaxe Sep 1st 2011 3:58PM
You don't seem to realize our complaints are that the mounts are entirely a rehash and nothing distinct to the race. It would be as if the Goblins simply got the same wolf mount as orcs.
We may buy them for characters doing mount achievements, but since my worgen is exalted with SW, I already have the black horse. So I won't be buying these for the worgen.
I certainly hope they make some cosmetic changes at least.
