Patch 4.3: Worgen racial mounts

Players were torn over Running Wild, mostly because each mount collected counts toward the achievement Mountain o' Mounts, which rewards a Red or Blue Dragonhawk to fly around on. Many Alliance players were upset over the fact that Horde players had an easier time collecting 100 mounts because of the Goblins' trikes. Horses make sense for Worgen, as Worgen are still essentially a Human nation, and Humans in Warcraft ride horses. These two particular mounts seem a bit plain, though. These new mounts are coming in most likely to ease the disparity between mounts when faction changes occur. All in all, this is good news for Alliance mount collectors.
Patch 4.3: Worgen racial mounts
We're not going to make it very far without transportation, are we? If we just hightail it out of here, the forsaken will catch up to us in no time at all.
Rounding up some horses from the stable grounds southeast of here would normally be a breeze, but there's one snag. That last quake must've spooked Koroth, the ettin, down from the mountains. If we don't get our horses soon, I fear that he will.
In patch 4.3, we'll be introducing worgen racial mounts to the stables of Azeroth. These sleek horses have been constant companions for the denizens of Gilneas since time immemorial, and your worgen characters will now be able to claim their ancestral mounts.

We hope you'll visit the new worgen racial mount vendor to pick out a steed to call your own.

It's not a preview article. It's a blue post. It's news. Nothing more special than any other blue post. Wow insider decided to post it and talk about it. I would rather not have someone try and figure out what is or is not "newsworthy" for me and let me decide. I am fully capable of figuring out what interests me. Thanks.

"It's fine to add 2 extra mounts. The stupid thing is that they announce it and put it on the blog like it's a big deal when it shouldn't of been anything more than one small line in the patch notes."
That's what makes this worth commenting on. "Look! Meet the new horses, same as the old horses!" Blizzard has reached a point in its relationship with its customer base that to call the developers completely out of touch is to risk giving them too much credit. It would be entirely reasonable to simply assume they're trolling you with things like this.

Just to clarify. It may have been a blue post, but it is also a feature article on their Community Blog.

It's purely a balance of faction fairness, so they're simple, nothing special, but they do fit perfectly non less with their established lore.
I've never seen a boar/worg around Gilneas, never seen anyone riding any other type of animals there, but I did see them riding horses. So it fits.
Of course people want some thing flashy an cool to show off, but that's not the reason for these mounts.
Luckily there are other very cool mounts you can try for out there, so it's all (basically) good.

I think I know where that guy's getting at with horse infected with the worgen curse. It would be a lot of extra coding but think if in human form you could ride a horse and in Worgen form you could ride a wolf-pig beast thing as seen in the concept art before this expansion even came.
It would be a double whammy. Players get a worgen racial mount and those who actually are that race get a little extra out of their own mount.
Can anyone say TRANSFORMERS: HORSES IN DISGUISE...

put a carage on that horse, that would be epic. Hey blizzard we are gonna run out of hay if you put anymore horse bodies in this game.

Anyone else remember those concept art boars that they showed us a long time ago for Gilnean mounts?
Not too overwhelmed by these mounts as they're saddle-less reskins, but I prefer in-game horses without the saddle anyway.
Not out of game horses. Chafing. Poor Worgen.
jishdefish Sep 1st 2011 12:42PM
Don't forget, they have fur. They should be okay.
sergeantharkness Sep 1st 2011 12:51PM
Out of game horses are fun to ride bareback! Provided you either use a blanket or don't mind horse hair in your crotch...

They really ought to just give them shire horses (bigger, bulkier, stockier horses). They'd fit with the Gilnean theme and fit the fact that large worgen need sturdier horses. But no. Sigh. Reskins it is.

The Deep Boars from the concept art? Honestly, I was never sure why the hell that was supposed to be a worgen-appropriate mount anyway. I mean, these Gilneans are all standing around, riding horses when they mount up to go run their dailies or whatever, and the. . . suddenly. . . they get turned into worgen, the earth splits open, and vicious, slobbering BOARS FROM HELL spew out of a crack in the ground. So, Greymane and friends are standing around, seeing this, and they say, "Hey, we have all these horses, but now that we turn into puppy-men all the time, we should be riding THOSE THINGS!!!" Ummmm. . . ok. . . why?
Really, I think that's why Blizz ended up going with Running Wild as the Worgen "mount," so Worgen players would have something unique to get them around, since. . . wait for it. . . the traditional Gilnean mount WAS A HORSE! :-p
Lighten up, people! :-) In any case, when the worgen saw the Deep Boars Blizz had ready for them, they probably ended up thinking "All-Bacon Lunch!" instead of "Mount," so Blizz had to come up with Plan B.
Noyou Sep 1st 2011 2:20PM
The boar was hideous. Given the Gilnean's and their former nobility it would not have made much sense from a lore aspect for them to ride something such as that. A lot of people, mount collectors in particular, like mounts without armor. It's probably long overdue. Now if they can just "accidentally" take out the sniffing noise we would be all set.

@Snuzzle
Totally Agree. Why not a Clydesdale at least. If the picture in the article is the mount, then the worst part is that I don't think these are reskins. I think these are the horses from the WoW TCG item http://www.wowhead.com/item=69215/war-party-hitching-post . I hope I'm wrong.
Jonisjalopy Sep 1st 2011 10:20PM
Is it too much to ask for them to give the ponies a friggin top hat?!
Amontoya15 Sep 1st 2011 12:39PM
OMGAWD a horse!? Where did they have the time to think up a crazy mount like that!? Kudos to Blizz for thinking up this unique idea.
Noyou Sep 1st 2011 5:55PM
Could you imagine the fuss there would be if they came up with something cool like, I dunno, the Goblin trikes? So yeah, they tossed us on alliance a bone. Nothing more, nothing less.
Ice Sep 1st 2011 8:53PM
Yeah.. Just.. huh?
Horse mounts so far accessible for alliance:
4(+1 if pala) from Argent T.
7(+2 if really old skool) from humans
2 from class if pala or warlock
2 rare drops (Headless horseman and Kara)
1 PvP horse
1 ToC10 heroic 50 tries mount
1 ToC25 heroic 50 tries no deaths mount
2 upcoming "worgen mounts"
To really stretch it theres LK25 HC mount and Celestial steed.
So theres 25 horse mounts! 25! Next close is wolf by mere 11. Daaaymn.
