WRUP: Proposition 65 Warning
Every week, just at the start of the weekend, we catch up with the WoW Insider staff and ask them, "What are you playing this week?" -- otherwise known as WRUP. Join us to see what we're up to in and out of game, and catch us in the comments to let us know what you're playing, too!
WARNING: What aRe yoU Playing contains ingredients known to the state of California to cause night blindness and severe respiratory distress. WRUP should only be taken as directed.
WRUP is toxic. Exposure to WRUP can cause serious illness in small children. Pregnant women should also avoid contact with WRUP, as its effects on fetal development are not yet known.
Discontinue using WRUP immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms:
When not in use, WRUP should be sealed in an air-tight container. Under no circumstance should WRUP be stored at temperatures above 8 degrees Centigrade or below 5 degrees Centigrade. Do not microwave WRUP, or place WRUP in a dishwasher. WRUP is not oven safe.
If you come in contact with a WRUP from the future, do not interact with it or a universe-collapsing temporal paradox may occur. Do not touch WRUP, as you may fuse together with it to your mutual demise if Timecop rules are in effect.
WRUP may contain inaccurate information and is intended for entertainment purposes only.
This week, we failed to ask our writers a bonus question. Instead, I wrote, "and write your own damn bonus question what do I care."
Adam Holisky (@adamholisky) (gplus.to/adamholisky) I'll be traveling this weekend down to Minneapolis for the Minnesota State Fair -- not quite as awesome as the Darkmoon Faire, but damn close. While down there, I'll also be having a BBQ, cooking my growingly famous blue cheese burgers. Nom nom nom. On the gaming front, it'll be nada, sadly.
Anne Stickney (@Shadesogrey) I am working on kitchen stuff, probably painting. I don't even know if I'm raiding on Sunday; a lot of my guildies are out of town this weekend. As for the bonus question, Murmurs ate it.
Alex Ziebart (@AlexZiebart) (gplus.to/alexziebart) I'll be dungeoning on my rogue! I recently quit raiding to avoid complete, catastrophic burnout with the game and have focused my energies toward my rogue alt. I don't really know stat weights for her or any of that kind of thing, so I'm probably not playing the ideal Mutilate rogue, but I'm having tons of fun doing 5-man content as my primary focus. I think taking a break from tittering over every single piece of gear that I get to make sure it's as good as it can possibly be is somewhat rejuvenating for me. I can just play. I do wish I didn't need to run Zul'Aman and Zul'Gurub so damn much to fill out my valor points week to week, though. Tiered heroics are a great idea, but two dungeons does not make a full tier, guys! I hope Blizzard plans ahead for better tiering in the next expansion.
Daniel Whitcomb (@danielwhitcomb) (gplus.to/danielwhitcomb) My parents are coming to visit me next week, so I'll be doing a lot of prep for that -- getting my place semi-cleanish, finalizing how I'm going to keep them fed and entertained for a few days, stuff like that. In WoW, I've been working on a Dwarven mage, in part for the guild class/race achievement, in part because I have never played a mage. Been leveling her PVP-exclusive so far, so I'll probably be queueing with her for WSG weekend as often as I can. Bonus answer is "Yes, but only on Thursdays."
Elizabeth Wachowski (@leeatwaterlives) My mom is coming to town, so I'll be hanging out with her most of the time. If I have time, I'll probably level my long-abandoned rogue while watching my fiance play Deus Ex. Then we have HBO night on Sunday!
Fox Van Allen (@foxvanallen) (gplus.to/foxvanallen) Finally back in Boston -- and with electricity, to boot! Flushing toilets -- you don't know how much you'll miss them until they're gone. Games for this weekend: The original Legend of Zelda and Zelda 2, both on my 3DS. Mega Man 2 on the virtual console as inspiration for my painting. Answer to the bonus question: State Senator Diane Allen.
Joe Perez (@Lodurzj) Just got done moving, so adjusting and making sure the cat is settled in with me. Can't kill bosses without my raid assistant. More Deus Ex: Human Revolution. I'm absolutely addicted to the stealth gameplay in it. After that, back to raiding Monday.
Josh Myers (@Elamqt) Two Worlds II on PS3, since my internet still out. I'm continuing my tradition of playing a rogue/archer in every console RPG ever but for some reason hating rogues and hunters in WoW. As for the answer to the bonus question, I'd have to go with Tyler. Definitely Tyler.
Mat McCurley (@gomatgo) (gplus.to/gomatgo) I think I want to finally finish a bunch of older games that I haven't really put any time towards. They are all on the Xbox, so I have to pry all of the other eyes away from the TV to do so, however. PC gaming is easier in that regard. More League of Legends is a given. Thank you very much to fan FireStrega for a League of Legends PAX code -- you made my day. My bonus question answer is "all the time," despite the question.
Matt Rossi (@MatthewWRossi) (gplus.to/MatthewWRossi) I'm going to be playing a game I can't talk about due to an NDA. The bonus question's answer is, "I don't think Fox really meant to smear rancid bacon all over himself. He just likes stink lines that much."
Matt Walsh (@Rhidach) Playing some Sword of the Stars (awesome space 4x game) this weekend. Probably should run some heroic to VP-cap as well ... Though I seem to have run out of things to buy for my main spec.
Michael Gray (@writegray) (gplus.to/writegray/) blah blah blah Sylvanas blah blah standing desk blah blah oh did I mention I do P90X blah blah blah LARPing.
Matt Low (@matticus) Busy engrossed in Deus Ex. The new one that is. Going for the blow-up-all-the-things approach!
Robin Torres (@cosmiclaurel) (gplus.to/cosmiclaurel) Animal Crossing, Tiny Tower and [redacted]. My answer to the bonus question is sushi. Bring me some now, please.
Tyler Caraway (@murmursofadruid) partying it up all over town ~
The weekend is the perfect time to kick back, relax and enjoy some game time. Are you an achievement junkie? Can't get enough raiding? Rolling a new alt? Considering taking the leap into roleplaying? Whatever your favorite way to play World of Warcraft, let us know in the comments what you're playing this weekend!

As a fisherman, I am so tired of seeing the warning "This product contains a material known to the state of California to cause reproductive problems, ect. ect. ect."
Yes, it's an appropriate warning, but the companies have just put it on universally everything in fishing gear. I had a package of plastic beads, and it had the warning on it. (Yes, plastic beads are used in fishing, ask a fisherman if you want to know how.) Usually the warning is talking about lead. It's just a funny thing seeing a lead warning on a product made completely out of rubber or plastic.
Jamus Sep 2nd 2011 8:31PM
A-ha-ha! That's a giant list of warning, but they didn't say anything about not blending it!
*throws WRUP into giant blentec blender*
I think I'll press the "wow" button this time...
Fox Van Allen Sep 2nd 2011 9:52PM
congratulations, you have just voided your warranty
@NUS Sep 2nd 2011 8:54PM
I'll be leveling alchemy to max on 3 toons and leveling my shaman pally and mage to 85

^ A thousand times.
Remember when people were excited about ZA and ZG?
Me too.
Fletcher Sep 2nd 2011 10:08PM
Personally I think that the whole idea of tiering heroics is flawed. Just stick 'em in the same big ol' pool, as it was in Wrath.
Sure, that way you got people trying to get H HoR through the random for the shield, zoning into Old Kingdom, and then insisting that you kick them so they can try again (and not get the debuff).
*This* way you get people padding their ilevels with PVP gear and exploding as soon as a troll sneezes at them, and people hating running the same two dungeons forever.
It's really crazy that adding more dungeons lead to a *reduction* in the number of dungeons people could profitably run.
TaurenDruid Sep 2nd 2011 11:10PM
There's a problem with your logic. How would allowing everyone into heroic ZA/ZG improve the situation with undergeared players? You'd have even more if you did that, imagine trying to run them with fresh 85s still in blue gear popping in with you.
Fletcher Sep 3rd 2011 12:11AM
Back in Wrath, while the ICC dungeons were in the same pool of random dungeons as, say, Utgarde "Snoozefest" Keep, they wouldn't come up for you unless you had a sufficiently large item level. If you *did*, you might get Hells of Reflection or you might get Halls of Lazyness, and you'd get the same number of badges either way.
So if Blizzard were to punt the Zuls back into the general pool, you still wouldn't have people in 333 blues attempting them - they wouldn't appear in the randomizer for those people until they'd got 346 item level.
The main change would be a) you couldn't queue for the Zuls specifically - you'd have a much larger pool of possible dungeons - and b) any dungeon, from the Throne of Tedium to Grim "Oh great, the tank just dropped group immediately after zoning in, that's the third bloody time this run" Batol to Zul "Will you stop unsheeping my bloody flame casters" Aman - any of those - would drop the same number of valor points.
Philster043 Sep 3rd 2011 12:20AM
Basically I just want more dungeons. Five dungeons per tier would be okay with me.
4.3 is going to bring us 3 more dungeons which will help, but for some people it's already been too long in coming.
Just hope that Blizzard learns from this.
Fletcher Sep 3rd 2011 12:30AM
Yeah, but are those three dungeons going to be in the same tier as the Zuls? Or in their own tier? They'll most likely have a higher level of gear than the Zuls, after all. I think three dungeons in a tier is only marginally better than two - and I think five is also pretty low. I'd want at least eight per tier.
Consider that I really can't bring myself to set foot in a Zul again. I may not be able to for at least a year; I only today gathered up the will to set foot in ICC again (the raid, not the dungeons) after a year and a half of steadfastly vowing I'd never go there again. It turned out we didn't have enough people and we went to do BC raids instead, but still. I never want to see another troll heroic. I am all trolled out.
I really don't want to feel the same sense of reluctance about the 4.3 dungeons, when 5.0 rolls about.
puffcake Sep 4th 2011 2:18AM
All they've done with a two-dungeon tier is burn people out while creating a horrible bottleneck as far as advancing gear. These are the dungeons to run to max out VP, and they're long, complicated, and just annoying as hell to PUG, even now when everyone "knows" them. Even without VP, jumping from heroic 346 blues to 353 purples requires supplementing with ZA/ZG gear. It's maddening, and an hour and a half and five wipes just isn't worth the 140 valor points to me.
Lich King at least gave way more variety and somewhat shorter dungeons, so even if you got that lame dungeon now and again (cough, OCULUS), it still wasn't a complete time sink only to end in tons of wipes/drops/and kicks. Or, if you did drop, you had a ton of other dungeons to queue for in order to get the same currency. I'm not saying they all have to be jokes like LK dungeons were on heroic, but you can't have hard, limited variety, AND ridiculously long all in one. It just makes dungeons completely non-fun.
Bapo Sep 2nd 2011 9:24PM
Ill be going to the fair tomorrow! I need me some food on a stick, and an onion blossom. Maybe some deep fried food on a stick, but that's always a toss up.
Oteo Sep 2nd 2011 9:48PM
This is the first year in several I haven't been to the Minnesota State Fair... :(
I'm in Pennsylvania now... Eat a fried candy bar for me, and a Blucy.

I suddenly realize what the NDA and beta is about, after an article on Joystiq.

My answer to the bonus question: 42
squiggy1 Sep 3rd 2011 2:48AM
ZG made me quit wow for a while. I was on one of my first runs and the tank was trying to do the stupid speed run. I accidentally aggrod a mob because we kept trying to sneak past stuff and he freaked out on me and called me every name under the sun before dropping group.
Fletcher Sep 3rd 2011 4:22AM
You probably mean ZA ... but I've found that some tanks (no doubt infested with the notorious Gogog virus) will try to make speed runs out of *anything*.
Psiwave Sep 3rd 2011 6:14AM
That picture reminds me, must clean out my fridge.
