The Queue: You'll watch this video at least twice
This is one of those videos you just can't watch once, ya know?
Boz asked:
Just a general business philosophy question: Has Blizzard ever provided the rationale behind the perks of the "Recruit A Friend" system?
I've recruited two seperate friends and both times they had a terrible experience as leveling was disjointed (mobs became green and gray halfway through a zone) and they had a difficult time absorbing all the new abilities in such a short period of time.
The teleporting and mount perks I understand, but wouldn't the augmented experience gains and level granting make more sense for the "Scroll of Resurrection?"
I have to agree with the old polarity of the aims of Recruit-a-friend. On the one hand, it is a wonderful tool that allows you and a friend to have an easier time questing together, moving around the world, and generally facilitating better play. On the other hand, you breeze through content because of the immense experience bonuses. Honestly, I think the Recruit-a-friend program's ultimate aim is to make it incredibly easy to get to "current" content rather than older content. It sounds a bit weird, considering that Cataclysm's 1-60 content is the new content, but this wasn't the case in Wrath.
During Wrath of the Lich King, the old world was still the old world, and common wisdom was "I just wish my friends could start with The Burning Crusade." The Recruit-A-Friend program, I believe, was meant to give that experience to players and to make it easier for existing players to get more higher-level characters faster. Multiple accounts are good for business, right?
Right now, though, leveling is already fast, even without Recruit-A-Friend. If you want your friends to experience the 1-60 Cataclysm content, let them do it on their own time. If you want a friend to get to the max level really quickly, Recruit-A-Friend.
ninjivitis asked:
Has anything been said about whether or not we'll be able to transmogrify heirloom gear?
Yes, heirloom gear is acceptable as a transmogrification target. However, the item loses its transmogrified art when it is traded, mailed, auctioned, or guild-banked away.
Jeff Field asked:
Is there any confirmation whether you can transmog a 2h mace into a 2h axe or sword? I know you can change ranged weapon types but I can't find anything specific on if you can do it on other weapon types so long as they are the same "size" weapon.
You can only transmogrify an item into another item of the same type and specification. The only exception to the rule is guns and bows, but transmogrifying a gun into a bow or vice versa does not change the classification of the gun or bow for racial bonus purposes.
snorgplat asked:
When 4.3 comes with the Deathwing raid, will he stop appearing in random zones and fireballing everything to death? I haven't been playing yet during Cata, but want to get the feat of strength before it disappears.
We don't know, actually. Only time will tell! Blizzard did also say that it would give us a month's notice before it got rid of the Ulduar meta-achievement drakes, and that notice has never come. So who knows? Blizzard knows.
Andrew R. asked:
Why are the farmers in Western Plaguelands holding pitchforks but "mining" the rows of corn? Did Blizzard throw them in there and forget to go back and change the animation?
how i mine corn?

I never thought I'd live to see a video that makes corn both hilarious and strangely sexy...I guess I was wrong.

Somebody should have mentioned VGCats here much much earlier.

It may be considered far too close to home which would explain why actually. >_>

"Corn, corn, corn! Snow, Snow, Snow!"
Fuzzl Sep 3rd 2011 12:07PM
It's very likely is could have changed, but according to http://www.wowpedia.org/Stood_in_the_Fire Deathwing will stop breathing on people after he has been downed for the first time on a given server.
Cephas Sep 3rd 2011 12:27PM
Whoever added that to the article didn't provide a source. Without a source I can only assume it's speculative, but even if a blue did say something to that effect once, plans could have changed since then. If Blizzard is planning on ending the Deathwing spawns during 4.3, they'll tell us first.
Joseph Smith Sep 3rd 2011 1:06PM
I don't have a link for reference, but I'm pretty sure I remember them saying during blizzcon that Deathwing would continue destroying areas until he was downed.
But again, I could be wrong, I'm just going by memory here.
MisterRik Sep 3rd 2011 1:43PM
I know "RNG" and all, but I'm wondering if they decreased the frequency of Deathwing's random appearances. I got the "Stood in the Fire" achievement on three toons in fairly short order after Cata launched, but haven't even sniffed it since.
solecizm Sep 3rd 2011 3:26PM
I presume that wiping on Deathwing during the raid encounter will also grant the achievement. The criterion is "get killed by Deathwing" - nothing about how or where ;)
solecizm Sep 3rd 2011 3:38PM
I presumed too soon! Seems there are hidden criteria: http://www.wowhead.com/achievement=5518
That'll teach me for posting with running the text through the wowhead-checker first >.
Cephas Sep 3rd 2011 5:15PM
@solecizm
Those are, indeed, the criteria for now, but they could easily update the criteria in 4.3 to include deaths experienced during the raid encounter. (They've actually already updated the criteria to let you get the achievement by running into the flames after Deathwing has already set an area on fire.)
Ronin Sep 4th 2011 6:26PM
@Cephas, The Blues did indeed say that the achievement would be obtainable until the first server defeats of Deathwing.
It's possible that they'll change their minds. But it's not really a good idea to do so after an achievement has already been implemented. I also don't see _why_ they would change their minds. But of course you never know.

I think you meant the pre-Ulduar meta drakes, unless I missed something big recently.
Avan Sep 3rd 2011 12:13PM
If I recall, the t7 meta drakes were just removed when Ulduar came out, with no prior notice that this is a thing that would be happening. A Blue said a bit later that, when the time comes to remove the Ulduar drakes (and presumably any future meta mounts), that players would be given at least one months notice.
